Backpacking in the Cordillera Huayhuash of Peru is a dream. It's one of the best destinations on the planet. I take you with me on the trek of a lifetime and offer some pointers on how to go yourself.

Thanks for the video. Incredible place. I solo hiked the Cordillera Huayhuash in July 22'.
Isn't that winter in the southern hemisphere tho? What was the weather like?
Weather was excellent most days. I think the best months for hiking in the Andes are from May-Septemper.
@@CaryMercer hmm weird I've heard summer there is from December to Feb since they have opposite seasons
Thanks for sharing. Spent 11 days trekking back in Aug. Great experience. Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing! Thanks for adding another bucket list destination to my list!
You gotta go! It’s insanely good.
Yeah, it is considered one of the best alpine hikes in the world for a reason. I would also include doing the Alpamayo circuit a must too, especially because you will already be in Huaraz most likely.
Your guide's name is Vergil, like Dante's guide in the Divine Comedy
This is place where u guys camp was day 10 of my 11 days independent huayhuash trek… classic huayhuash circuit is usually 8-12 days… with beautiful camp sites , lakes and several mt passes and viewpoints.. so i suggest doing the huayhuash circuit trek rather than a section of it if u get enough travel days…if u are not prone to altitude sickness and have the mental/physical endurance to carry 10-12 days of food then i highly suggest to do it solo… im 5”2 non athletic built living on sea level and dont do any gym rather just under 2 months of 1-2 hours of running 2x a week did the trick for me to somehow prepare for the 11 days trek…
Love this! Just did the mini Huayhuash trek and got recommend this 🎉
Omg Really really amazing places!!!! Perú is beautiful
Beautiful video you have inspired me to go
Great Content!!
Great sunset timelapse.
This is such a cool trip. I hope you can highlight more areas within Peru you would recommend.
I love Peru so much. We filmed in a few different regions, so stay tuned!
Amazing views and looks like a great time man!
It was incredible!
Thanks for sharing the adventure. It's great seeing places that we may never be able to hike. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much! I hope one day you can see it for yourself!
Awesome view
so happy for you all... just curious about when this trip occurred... and the darling puppy was freezing
Another home run👍
Thank you!
Awesome trek. Random, I like your hat. Where can I get one to look cool like you?
Thank you, I really like the hat too! It’s from Cotopaxi www.cotopaxi.com/products/zig-zag-5-panel-hat?variant=39547114913853
You can pretty much hike up any mountain in Peru and have a great experience.
Some of them get pretty tall though!
Dude, you visit some amazing places.
It's true. I am a lucky human!
Pena que, não enviam para o Brasil. Gostei das botas e da mochila!
Been waiting for this one since you posted photos about a month ago. Awesome trek! Can you tell us what company you used?
That’s a good point. What company did they use?🧐
Glad to hear it! I trekked with a company called explorandes. They’re amazing!
I'm acclimatizing for my bikepacking trip down the spine of the Peruvian Andes currently in Huaraz... should I do this trek too?? Seems legendary...
I'm too po to do any kind of guide porter whatever and don't want to gringo it anyway... I guess I just need to acquire a bag to hold all my gear and food that is not panniers.
The altitude merks me
This is sick!
@backpackingtv
How can I find the tour company you used for this adventure. My mates and I want to do this route in June 2023 and we like the ideas of donkeys, guide, cook.
Thank you so much for this video
You entered my playlist, great video man the only reason you don’t have more views is because you didn’t do it in Spanish
Great video, what month did you travel? Also how many day/nights was the Trek you are on? Do you think that was a great length for that part of your journey, or would you recommend a little.longer.
Southern hemisphere has winter during our summer and vice versa
I’ve been trying to do this trek for almost a decade.
Go do it soon! The glaciers are melting pretty quickly.
Thanks. Thanks what is the name of your guide company?
I’m currently trying to talk my wife into doing this next year. Which guide service did you go with?
Planning to solo backpack this trek have you noticed if they sell fuel canisters for a pocket rocket?
very cool. yabadaba doo
Haha thanks!
amazing!
Thank you!
which guide company did you go with?
What guide company did you use.?
Blogger, sigo tus videos desde hace mucho tiempo. Me parece muy interesante tu trabajo, espero me puedas responder
Gracias! tengo lo mejor trabajo en el mundo!
@@BackpackingTV De nada, espero que podamos ser amigos😀
How many days did it take you
i really want to go how much would it cost me ?
is it possible to hike the treks without so much support an logistics?
I did this trek solo without much logistics. Took a 80 sole or around $20 ride from Huaraz. A little trickier getting back to Huaraz, but definitely pretty easy. I also don't speak too much spanish.
@@CaryMercer thanks I'll definitely watch your videos
@@zoharlevin1330 No problem, my man. Happy to help if you have any questions.
I know 2 people who died from altitude sickness and another who had to get evaced by helicopter off the side of a mountain. It certainly is no joke.
Do you have the contact information / IG of the company you used? Thank you so much! Your video was amazing. So many incredible views.
I hiked with www.explorandes.com/ and they were wonderful! Explorandes on IG too.
@@BackpackingTV thank you 🙏 🇵🇪
Why don't you climb the summit???
The summit here are covered in ice and are very technical and challenging to climb. But I’d love to do that someday!
@@BackpackingTV I hope that one day I'll get there too, I'm a mountain guide in Europe and I'm going to get to Tibet and then maybe I'll get to Peru too, I really appreciate your videos
And, as we all know… a whole chef, is better than half a chef…
Can I work with you lol
I'd love to make your dialogue sound 100 times better. PM me please.
