I think that delay is there for a reason. It is a safety feature :) If I am not mistaken, VW also had it on their Golf's at some point. You had to press the pedal a second time in order to get a kickdown - in case you fell asleep or something.
Maybe the volvo gearbox is a bit slower to respond on everyday cars but I think it might be a good thing. If you not having a race car you really dont need a super kickdown gearbox. Its Quick enough. And because it slower it is smother and not a instant pressure on the gearbox which make them last incredible long. Many cars need to change their gearbox after a time, but I know lots of volvo cars that have driven over 400 000 km (216 000 miles) Of course other cars can go that long with the same gearbox but I feel its more common for volvo. Mercedes is also long lasting cars althoug have falled back a little the past decade.

I drive an E220d. Awesome engine, great 9 speed box, suspension (AMG trim) a bit jumpy on b roads, infotainment (with the 2 screens) looks amazing but the touch "alien" pad makes no sense
I really think you should do the test again, now when the Volvo D5 engine has got the 'Power Pulse' feature. An extra compressor, to get instant response when you touch the gas pedal
also on the BMW, it has another feature for the boot, if your hands are full of stuff then you can open it by using your foot, place your foot under the bumper, that's another way of opening it.
Volvo design is the most refreshing. Infotainment frustrates. More upright and stiff. Um...2018 Audi A4 wagon or Allroad? That's all I see around my neighborhood.
this is a bit offtopic, but I thought I need to ask someone about buying a car. I was looking to buy a used car from this german online platform. I found one and the price is very low with few kms on the dash The seller says that the engine was replaced by maker when it had 100K and that this can be proved. What kind of situations would require the engine change? Also, if this engine is brand new, should it increase the value of the car OR should I treat it as a 100K car? I mean, when I look to compare this car to other similar make&model, should I compare it with cars that have over 100K (as the old engine had) OR cars that have as much as the new engine on this one has? Hope this makes sense.

The 5 Series has the best exterior
The V90 is best all around
I had a bmw m135i then got a Volvo v40 t5 and it is far better than the bmw so much more kit as standard volvo♥️♥️♥️
The Volvo just stands out from all the estates
I'm just glad there's no Audi.
Audi seems a bit obsolete now that volvo has stepped their game up.
Yeah, Volvo
Lol imagine if they had an rs6 instead of the volvo
Audi A6 maybe would have won if participated here
Why would you need/want another Audi when you already have an Audi?
I think that delay is there for a reason. It is a safety feature :) If I am not mistaken, VW also had it on their Golf's at some point. You had to press the pedal a second time in order to get a kickdown - in case you fell asleep or something.
Maybe the volvo gearbox is a bit slower to respond on everyday cars but I think it might be a good thing. If you not having a race car you really dont need a super kickdown gearbox. Its Quick enough. And because it slower it is smother and not a instant pressure on the gearbox which make them last incredible long. Many cars need to change their gearbox after a time, but I know lots of volvo cars that have driven over 400 000 km (216 000 miles)
Of course other cars can go that long with the same gearbox but I feel its more common for volvo. Mercedes is also long lasting cars althoug have falled back a little the past decade.
on thursdey I visited BMW dealer. I went to check 4 gran coupe. There was a 5 series next to it. When I finished with 4 GC I went to check new 5 (curiosity) and it is totaly sunning! Just by opening doors...you will feel quality. 4 GC is like a toy next to it. To me it look far better then on tv screen...
Perfect car!
I go with volvo, I love anything from Sweden!!
So you like ikea to
Great test! For me it's the Volvo, but the CC version.
You have to see the V90 live. GORGEOUS.
I drive an E220d. Awesome engine, great 9 speed box, suspension (AMG trim) a bit jumpy on b roads, infotainment (with the 2 screens) looks amazing but the touch "alien" pad makes no sense
BMW all day, every day for me.
I really think you should do the test again, now when the Volvo D5 engine has got the 'Power Pulse' feature. An extra compressor, to get instant response when you touch the gas pedal
Why dont india gets the estate versions😖
Shivansh Tiwari Jaguar XF Sportbrake is available. If not more, its atleast on par with these cars.
Shivansh Tiwari Yeah, these cars are much better looking and more practical than their sedan counterparts
also on the BMW, it has another feature for the boot, if your hands are full of stuff then you can open it by using your foot, place your foot under the bumper, that's another way of opening it.
However the Volvo gas made an amazing car

Matt I'm really liking your presentation style! Great job mate! The fake exhaust tips wind me up too, given the money you're paying ...
I found one and the price is very low with few kms on the dash
The seller says that the engine was replaced by maker when it had 100K and that this can be proved.
Absolutely loving the BM 👌😍
My dad has 2017 Volvo V90 and it is such a nice car. He is going to get new one this year. Cannot wait to have a ride with it
Mercedes E-Class is the best!
Juliano Dixon also the fact that there is a wagon and coup version of it!
It's an unreliable endless money pit
Volvo has 3 driving modes. Matt you are in comfort mode, change to dynamic and you will see the respond.
meanwhile audi still in 2014
BSG the rs6 is miles ahead of all these
BSG 2014 and still better :)
Hamza Ahmed is not a real comparison, rs6 is a supercar for rich people, these are normal cars for normal people :)
Hamza Ahmed *in the opposite direction
e63 estate destorys the utter crap of the rs6. It is light years more advanced in technology, has far more feautres and is more luxurious and comfortable with a miles better looking interior too. Not to mention its faster than the rs6 in acceleration! So yes its supercar like performance.
Audi is outdated and behind!
Hamza Ahmed e63s estate is faster than the rs6 in acceleration so yes its supercar like performance
You do get the self driving with nobody in the mercedes. But you don't have to have a huge key. It's an app on you phone. Quite better in my opinion.
The 5 series interior is superb and wins against any of its rivals.
Exactly. As interior and control is 90% of what you do with the car as a driver ... we have a clear winner.
I chose the beamer. Taking delivery next month :)
BMW are the only one who do things "properly"
if you slam the throttle in the volvo while in comfort then the acceleration will not respond immidietly for safety reasons. if you slam the gas in dynamic mode its instant
I love the Volvo but it's unavailable with a v6 that's why I'd have the Mercedes
A V6 doesn't make a car better
General Zirkobi I know but a v6 is so much nicer the a four cylinder
@@theblueeyes3889 not necessarily
Volvos had inline 6s, not V6s. I think Volvo should not have gone with the all 4-cylinder policy and had 5 and 6-cylinder engines as limited options.
@@benjaminsmith2287 I'd take a straight 6 over a V6 any day
Put it in the mode where you have to manage the gear up and dowm yourself and it responds immediately when puch the gas
BMW looks purely amazing. Definitely a great driving Machine
1. BMW looks like the old F11 five-series... (Know cause I have it)
2. Volvo is the only with true SELF-DRIVING pilot system. The others not.
3. Infotaiment systems is important and personal.
When using the center scroll-wheel to enter a destination compared to a swiping touchscreen or Siri voice speak for that matter...
It feels like Volvo outclass the old germans.
The interface is just like an smartphone (touch to know more)
when the BMW for instance has the tree- (categories with subcategories. Like browsing deep in windows Folders)
The V90 also is available with the T8 hybrid. I visited a Mercedes dealer in monday but could only found
4WD and diesel enginges with 6 cylinders.
All are of them are great! Thou...
The merc is clearly the winner in looks, ride comfort, interior and driver/passenger comfort.
"The design its a little bit "nnjaaahh". Man i love you +carwow
