Coupled with the band's "retro" 1960s look and pop/rock sound, the company's stylings led detractors to accuse them of being Beatles rip-offs,[1] which the band and their record company denied. Fieger acknowledged the band's likeness to the Beatles, claiming that it was their intention to present the Knack as a replica of the British Invasion. He went on to mention how fans of the Knack had not been able to experience the times of the 1960s, and that it was wrong to deny them the privilege of experiencing something similar.[6] Critics fought back, claiming the band was imposing inadequate memories of the 1960s on those who didn't know better. Soon, as Get the Knack became more popular, the band was met with hostility from other artists who felt the intense marketing of the band was invalidating their own efforts of invoking the 1960 sound.[6] This perception, and the perception that the object of some of the Knack's songs were teenaged girls (subsequently acknowledged when the band were years older), quickly led to a "Knuke the Knack" campaign led by San Francisco artist Hugh Brown.[7]. And find this out. Stupid statement.
VIVA THE Knack VIVA THE BEATLES!!
OMG !!! This is the first time that I have heard The Knack sing "A Hard Day's Night"
I think it is better than the Beatles!
You're right, imitating The Beatles apparently just wasn't in vogue with critics then, but Oasis were praised for it. Back then, critics wrote as if The Knack were objectively, factually BAD. I grew up reading all those Creem/Rolling Stone/Trouser Press/etc. mags, and you'd think The Knack were CRIMINALS, by God, to read what the press said about them. They were just a rock band, like 'em or not. I've grown to really despise rock critics and the criticism media in general.
There was so much Beatles-esque stuff... just don't sound like them.
The Beatles were fun.
The Knack were fun.
What's the problem?
Nowadays if you blatantly rip off another artist it's no big deal
Huge.
This band was so tight. Great solo guitarist. They had a great sound. All talented. Loved them. I like any band that dresses like Beatles. Why not? It’s called uniformity
Cool!
0:51 Doug looks like John
done good
In setting set playback at 0.75x, I think it sounds better
Miss TF out of you Doug.
❤❤❤❤
RIP Doug and Bruce
Damn good cover. Even had Pauls little voice quivers
newell, you are so right on with that comment. The Knack never got the praise they deserved. I guess the obscene attention My Sharona got did them in a little bit.
someone saw the woman fainting? 0:40 - 0:48
It looks like she was pushed from behind by the guy in blue.
She didn't faint. She was basically assaulted by the asshole behind her. I get it, he was annoyed, probably couldn't see shit with a tall woman standing up, but he went too far. If someone did that to my wife, one of us would not be leaving alive.
I hope you don't despise us..hehe (I'm a journalist)..We conducted an interview with Berton Averre a couple of years ago countering all the rubbish that was claimed by the press you mentioned. That's the beauty of today's web world..The Knack's music has aged well a sure sign of their great talent...
A special Beatles fan sent me here haha
Best cover of Hard Days Night ever played.
Knackamania at its bestest
A great rock and roll band.
Thats all.
Yeah I’m sure the Beatles were a huge influence of these here guys.
Well played! I actually have a cover of this song too as well as tons of videos extracting John Lennon's parts
I agree Newgirl!
1000th like.
