This scene’s both funny and incredible (in a good way). Vitalstatistix ALMOST didn’t catch on, and it would’ve make sense if he didn’t…but it speaks positively of his character that he did figure out what Asterix was planning at the very last second.
Asterix: how about I punch you in the face and you tell me if that's superhuman enough? Centurion: well, go ahead. I don't recall you ever waiting for permission. Asterix: ...... (shit ! He called my bluff! What the hell do I do now??)
@@ajward9112 Then again... when did we ever see any of the Gauls ever see a weapon...? The only time I can remember was in the movie Asterix discovers America... in a nightmare.
1:35 I count this as the second Caesar won. Obelix and Panoramix are caught, the village is desserted, and there's no reinsforcements coming. Even Asterix alone couldn't save the day at this point.
All part of the running gag in this movie. The legionnaires got unhappy that the slaves were treated better than them (they were given magic potion to escape but instead used it to beat the centurion into giving them better terms of employment) and annoyed the centurion about it to the point he gave in and agreed to their terms, one of which was apparently commanding with consent. It's funny because it's relatable with a light dusting of AU and fantasy!
I love EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FILM, but what I really love is how the ROMANS LEARN FROM THE EXPERIENCE, not the regular type of Red Shirts, these guys LEARN!!
The complete recipe is never revealed... but once in a while an ingredient or two is mentioned... though never the exact amount needed. And apparently the recipe keeps on changing (or the writers simply don't care...) Here are the ingredients I know of/heard of: Mistletoe - You always see Getafix gathering those... NOTE: Getafix mentioned that they have to be cut with a golden sickle or else they loose their magic... or something like that... Lobster - This one was mentioned at the very first issue of the comics; Asterix asked Getafix what was in the magic potion and answered that the recipe was a secret. He did however reveal two ingredients: Mistletoe and lobster. But Getafix also mentioned that the lobster is only optional; to make the magic potion taste better. Fresh fish - Getafix mentioned this one in a movie and that is a necessary ingredient; no fish, no magic potion. Petroleum - supposedly Getafix substituted this one for something else... Beetroot juice I think... The next three were revealed in the videogame Asterix: Mega Madness; the goal of one of the games was to gather any number of any of the following ingredients for the magic potion: Mistletoe Lobster Toadstool aka Fly Agaric Oak leaves Pheasant eggs Some blue flower; possibly a corn flower.
No ones gonna mention that the centurion straight up has a handbrake on his siege tower?
It's the little touches that make this so great. Looney Tunes had stuff like that, and I'm dying of laughter.
Well, even the original comic didn't shy away from anachronisms.
“Do they have it?… I don’t know… I don’t know, I have brain fog”
That was one hell of a gamble by Asterix
Just like the one he made in Britain.

Holy crap! That’s Double D from Ed Edd n Eddy!
That’s Sam Vincent
Oh man that voice was a flash to past man had some great times watching that show sigh...

And the man calling is Greg Davies, who is Mr. Gilbert from the Inbetweeners.
"hey eddy! What's double D doing there?"

either that is a blunt sword or that was an amazing armpit catch
Magic potion or not, nobody goes into a fight with a blunt sword so it was the best armpit catch ever

@@mariobenedicto3582 Vitalstatistix uses his sword from time to time.
And I think Asterix uses his sword in some comics.

@Nolan Sword didnt say the second *time* , I said the second

I love how this movie showcased that even without the potion, Astérix is still a capable and cunning warrior.
The Centurion has stones.
He KNOWS what Asterix can and has done.
He looks at Asterix and just says 'Okay, lay one on me then.'
That handbreak gag got me.
Safety first even in ancient history times
I feel when Asterix faked drinking the Magic Potion and acted like it took affect was making fun of the live action Asterix films.
The ol' Open Gates Gambit. Make them _think_ it's a trap.
This is my favorite scene of this movie ❤❤
Who knew Automatix had such a talent for drama 😂

That sword would have actually hurt him.
Pfft, how often does he actually use that thing? It was duller than the Romans.
@@captin3149 rarely. But I read in a comic that he fought another Gaul chief with it and won. I think it was the golden pot
@@dadawgdoin7467 I think it was Asterix and the Cauldron, or both.

Next time, Asterix should get a spare

wtf is up with the audio. the dialogue is so disconnected
It was originally voiced in french and this is the english release's voice over.
English Dub
It's actually an English dub. That explains why the dialogue doesn't match of the character's mouth, let alone originally made in French.
The English cast was better in the magic potion movie :( can't take Asterix seriously
Theres two English versions
