I Am Your Target Demographic I'm unsure if this should count, but I feel like Raven from DC Comics has a possible connection towards autism.

I really love your series. I have gay friends as well as Native American ones and I’ve loved showing them these videos. I was wondering could you do a series on Goth or punk or metal super heros? I’d love to see if there are any. Also I have autism so again thank you for this series.

As an Aspie I would say two characters could be debatable as well.
Forge for one of them. Yes his mutant ability is said to be intuitive. But I have also met several Aspies who were amazing in their ability to simply look at a machine and know exactly how it works, break it down amd draw it out easily.
The next character is closer to home for me. My specific Hyper focus is Combatives. So much so Im recognized as an expert in my field. Blunt, edged, impact, pulse energy weapons, improvised, field expedient weapons, primitave and firearms.
As such I have a focus in performance and the body. So I also have the skills and physical capability to teach my trade. Which I have.
    This said. I recommend Deadshot.
His level of mastery makes him not a normal villian. But a Super villian.

I`m someone who has Asperger's syndrome and am glad that Mr Fantastic is on the spectrum and that the Blue Ranger in the P.R movie was that.
And I even am on the fan theory team that the MCU Iron Man by Robert Downy Jr might be Asperger's too. :)

My headcanons for Marvel, as someone who's also autistic, are Natasha Romanoff, Wanda Maximoff, and Yelena Belova, especially Wanda. I see a lot of myself in her. Her Special Interest is sitcoms, (I mean, c'mon. She made an entire reality of sitcoms without even knowing she did it. That screams autistic) she's hypersensitive, has hyperempathy, in CA:CW her powers are able to be disrupted by War Machine's sonic soundwaves which makes her cover her ears, she often gets so caught up in her own ideas that she ends up unintentionally hurting others, plus what neurotypical woman is gonna fall in love with a freaking robot?

What a great video & topic, however I was hoping it would include the specific time & reveal of the characters identification of being Autistic. Being a life long hard core comic reader & fan, I was amazed to find this out about Reed Richards. The time & issue where the character was revealed as Autistic is also kind of a big deal.

As an autistic adult female who has a Special Interest in a specific aspect of Marvel, I wish there were more AFAB autistic superheroes in media. Actually I wish there were more AFAB autistic characters in media in general. The current canon representation for autistic people, particularly in mainstream media, is almost non-existent. And if you add in looking for AFAB autistic characters, you're looking at even less characters. And the characters that do exist are often children and/or tend to rely on stereotypes.
That's why I'm writing a book with an autistic protagonist who also has ADHD like me. Fingers crossed that it can make it into the mainstream.

I’m an autistic adult female. My RUclips channel features a fictional original universe with a AFAB autistic superhero with ADHD like me. Most of my original characters are neurodivergent and AFABs. It’s not mainstream but I hope it will catch on eventually!
I’m glad to hear you are writing a book with a AFAB autistic character with ADHD!

As an adult female who is recently being diagnosed on the spectrum... I think legion may be one of 2 things...
    1. They used the wrong term... Or
    2. You go by the philosophy of you meet one person on the spectrum, and you have met one person on the spectrum. Yes there are some very distinctive things about autism but there is a wide array of symptoms and a person can have any mix of them and be autistic.

I've definitely heard people say that they're autistic-coded/likely autistic; as an autistic person, from what I know of them and have seen of them, I can see why.
I also think Wanda Maximoff may be autistic.

    Great video, just one thing,
The video should have been called "Asperger's" as all these characters appear to be very high functioning and appear to only have symptoms relating to their social skills

You do know that the specifications were given up because in the end they were extremely arbitrary and impossible to predict for younger children and that functioning labels themselves in general only lead to people's skills or difficulties being ignored?

    • @ladielydkyd1281
      @ladielydkyd1281 2 года назад

As someone who's autistic, I have a few things I'd like to contribute; Asperger's is actually associated with the Nazi Party. Hans Aspergers basically decided which autistic people were "worthy of life" and which weren't. Plus before they began the mass genocide of Jewish/Romani/gay/etc,. people, the Nazis first used disabled people to test their methods, first by sterilizing them and then murdering them; that includes autistics.
Second, functioning labels are very polarizing and generalize autism. They don't really describe how "well" you function, just how well you can pass as neurotypical.
Third, which is kinda related to the second point, you used a key word in your comment; appear. The phrase "appearances can be deceiving" is very applicable to this. Yes, a key symptom of autism is social skill deficits, but it's much more complex than that. Thanks to a lot of therapy, I can pass as neurotypical or at least as not autistic, basically I can somewhat keep up appearances, so to speak. But it's exhausting to mask. I have trouble with other things related to autism; emotional regulation is a big one. I'm also often not able to verbalize what I'm feeling and instead I have to describe it through a story or a poem or some sort of art. Changes can also shake me up. I have sensory issues, particularly to bright lights. This is just to name a few.
Autism is often not, actually practically never, fully explored with fictional characters; they may be struggling with certain aspects of autism and doing fine with others. So by generalizing them as "high-functioning," it negates the other struggles they may face related to autism.

Black manta dose not count as an autistic person anymore in other versions and also his current version because I heard that fans saw this as a horrible thing for an autistic person becoming a villain was just somewhat not good so DC never use this version of black manta ever again
