2003 was a great year for England, it's nice to see these highlights. The forward pack was immense, the backs were exciting and Wilkinson was outstanding. We will always remember the RWC 2003 squad with great affection. It is sad to hear that Steve Thompson can't remember anything of the RWC 2003 final, owing to memory problems brought about by repeated concussions sustained as a player.
I watched his interview, and regrets to have give his engagement for Rugby The Sport is spectacular but so dangerous ,fortunately rules have evolved now,no more punches or stomps in the crowd. Its more technical than physical and violent . I loved the 2003 WC and England had its three year era.
Watching these videos from the 03 six nations it’s notable how many England backs took the field who mere months later played little or no part in the World Cup run. Christophers, Gomarsall, Hodgson (whose constant lack of vision and flakey tackling saw him play his way out of the team), Bracken, Dan Luger (whose wonderful form tailed off just when it mattered most)...Tindall, Catt, Dawson, Lewsey are the ones we now remember. The World Cup winning year had many more contributors, and this winning team came from a squad that was still evolving right up until the tournament itself in Australia. Odd, too, that there was no Freddie Michalak in this game. Was he injured?
Lack of vision from hodgson? what are you talking about?he was arguably a much better 10 than Wilkinson was overall but his goalkicking let him down at times
Who is this Alfonz? Must be mighty embarrassed having seen how England played the Six Nations this year. Did they strangle all enjoyment and excitement out of the game for you? Forget your social hang-ups and enjoy the game. The alternative is just to take your anger to the grave with you.
'2003 saw the cynical strangling of any hope of exciting, entertaining rugby by a bunch of snot-nosed public school twats' Try count France 3 England 1 England 2 Wales 0 England 6 Italy 1 England 4 Scotland 0 England 5 Ireland 0
Strangling of exciting rugby? Jason Robinson's sidesteps, Jonny's kicking (and his drop goals, come to that!), James Simpson-Daniel's dummies, Matt Dawson's breaks through the back line - sounds very exciting to me! :)
I am sorry I have to point it out to you @@MrWillman66 , but john smith was being sarcastic and/or replying to a perceived impression at the time and since, that England did not play attacking rugby - hence the quotes, and the subsequent try count... mind you perhaps I am misreading things and you are just agreeing with him... t'internet huh?
I'd like to know how old the usual story is, because in 20 Six Nations championships; England have scored 301 tries averaging 15.05 per year. Top scorers 10 times (inc. 2003). Ireland have scored 259 averaging 12.95 per year. Top scorers 5 times. France have scored 227 averaging 11.35 per year. Top scorers twice. Wales have scored 214 averaging 10.7 per year. Top scorers 4 times. Scotland have scored 141 averaging 7.05 per year.Never top scorers. Italy have scored 133 averaging 6.52 per year. Never top scorers.

This was such an exciting England team. In my opinion the best ever and the only one you can remember all 23 players.
At least, probably even up to a regular 30!
Such a magnificent England, the Road to World's Cup victory!!
The speed of the game.!!!

Gommars and Luger were in Australia, in the squad.
Hodgson did his knee Vs Italy in this championship, playing 12.
Lewsey was called up for Italy, scored twice. Played v Scotland, scored. Then he was first choice.

@@strawberrykicker2 Going to have to disagree with you there.
The England team of 2003 would make it in any era they were so strong
Please put the live scores up. FFS
what would we be without wilkinson??
Is it possible to have full match ?
Wilkinson exceptional
Steve Zissou do you understand anything about Rugby? Penalties are given for stopping the opposition playing.
How good was Greenwood?

18 in all, 10 by back 3. 5 by centres. Only 3 by forwards.
Charlie Hodgson is the definition of club rugby man Jesus
England winning penalties, France losing despite tries. An old usual story
Hardly. England bossed this game.

Well said Talbot!
