- Many folks trying to install Windows 7 via USB on their new computer builds using motherboards with 100 series or 200 series chipsets are finding out that Windows 7 will not install.
The reason for this is Windows 7 does not have up-to-date USB drivers on the installation media. Microsoft last updated the installation media many years ago and has ignored it since. In my opinion, it's a passive-aggressive marketing technique to get you to install Windows 10 instead.
The good news is, this is something that is easily fixed and in this video I show you step-by-step how to download the latest official Windows 7 installation media, create the bootable flash drive with it and then update it with the latest USB drivers that the newest Gigabyte hardware implements.

Carey, you are the greatest! It took me all day to find someone who knows what he's talking about. The windows 7 ISO download is no longer available, but I found it off another site.
Hi! Congratulate, it works well!!! After few years there was some modifications in the Gigabyte's site, but the concept is correct, and it works! For me to an 8 GB old USB 2.0 stick it takes 1h and 40 min to prepear the install disk, but after that it runs very well. I wish all the best o You! Best regards, Laci ;)

Thank you sir! Just had to swap motherboards and was dreading this part of the process. Worked perfect, and i always have trouble getting W7 on this system. Ive also used this program before but could never get it to work, i think i was trying to edit the ISO and not the usb drive with windows loaded in it lol.
I don't even know how I managed to get here but THANKS. I knew something was wrong and it wasn't because of the USB 3.0 controller drivers...

I just came across this error...I entered BIOS and disabled USB 3.0 Controller option.That fixed the problem for me I hope it does to all of you too.

That's why I always keep internal DVD drive in my builds. It may come handy in these types of situations. Simple things/devices work best.

Carey. I've had windows 7 for 5 years on my computer and for the past 2 months I haven't been able to install updates. It just stays at 0%. Do you know how i can fix that?

Search and download patches KB3020369 and KB3172605. x86 if you have a 32 bit O/S or x64 if you have a 64 bit O/S. Install KB3020369 then reboot, then install KB3172605 then reboot. You should be able to install updates as normal.
