Very informative video, thank you. Windows 7 installer can't find my SATA SDD, while it was securely erased by the BIOS as your video shows. Any thoughts?
The last Dell to run Windows 7 is the OptiPlex 7040 which has a 6th Generation Intel Skylake Processor. Intel did not create drivers for newer hardware and the OptiPlex 7060 which has an 8th Generation Intel Skylake Processor is not supported to run Windows 7. The Windows 7 installation media therefore cannot see the storage controller (SSD/HDD) for this newer hardware.
Hey Philip , thanks for your Helpfull video for so many Fan of dell , i wish very much to know if is possible to get working windows xp profesional 64 bit on this cute little machine ? because im planning to buy one , did you make a test on this way to install windows xp on it ? drivers can be founded with driver detective or any similar ? Regards , im waiting exciting your reply Please
Not directly. The only way is to use VMware or a similar program to make a VM. The last Dell to work on Windows XP is the OptiPlex 7010. For that model you need to slipstream the drivers to the Windows XP installation media as demonstrated for 32 Bit Windows XP here: ruclips.net/video/lL_bHfRMoTM/видео.html&ab_channel=PhilipYip

Hi Philip, I followed your instruction and installed Windows 7 Unlimited, but when the Welcome screen turn on, my keyboard and mouse stop working, I can't type username or computer name on that screen. My PC is Dell 3060 Miro model. Please help me out.
Only the Pro Edition is updated for newer models. Drivers and updates need to be slipstreamed to other Editions. Moreover it only supports up to 6th generation Intel Processors. This means it will work on the OptiPlex 3040 and 7040 and on some 3050 and 7050 models but not on OptiPlex 3060 or 7060 models. Even if you got it to install you would struggle to get drivers for the rest of the hardware. Install Windows 10 Version 1903 Instead.
Windows 7 NVMe requires GPT+UEFI, and UEFI means FAT32 so I got all that setup and now... Wait, UEFI boot isn't even showing up, let alone the my UEFI USB drive. It seems I can add devices into UEFI boot path.
@@philipyip1988 My Windows 7 ISO is 3.5GB that's well within spec. And why would I need secure boot if Windows 7 doesn't support it? That's what I'm installing, it's just that there's surprisingly no Windows Boot Manager or anything listed in the UEFI boot list in the Boot Sequence section. It's not my flash drive, it's a UEFI BIOS problem altogether. Also I'm confused at what you just said about having to use NTFS when clearly UEFI doesn't, FAT32=UEFI=NVMe=Windows 7 possibility if the NVMe driver's in the ISO/bootable usb. I told someone in Facebook about the Windows Boot Manager missing and his reaction seems as if something bad has happened.
@@HedgehogY2K you need to disable Secure Boot for Windows 7 64 Bit otherwise the USB will not Boot (Secure Boot blocks it). With such a small ISO it is possible you are missing most the hotfixes including the NVMe hotfixes and driver support such as storage controllers and USB 3.0 drivers.
More details about where you are getting stuck? It should be relatively straight forward to install Windows 7 on that model. Make sure you are using the back USB ports for the Windows 7 Bootable USB and keyboard and mouse in that model.
My video describes installing Windows 7 on 8th generation intel CPU. However I still am baffled at how you manage to boot Windows 7 UEFI without novesa options in the BCD settings.
The Dell Windows 7 Skylake Reinstallation ISO already contains the NVMe Hotfixes in the Professional index of the install.wim. If you are using other installation media (e.g. Retail Media from Microsoft you will need to slipstream them).
