the guy you played twice actually played another game between the two games you played. when he lost the first time, he ended up with 1900 elo, but when the second game started he had 1906

Its not just that youre stronger than your oppenents in atomic. Atomic chess tends towards short games by nature of how much easier it is to make captures, including several captures in a single turn, and checkmate is much easier by extension.
@@giacomomeluzzi280 Hence the phrase "it's not JUST that you're stronger" Basically the point is that in regular chess, this level of skill difference would still be big, but it wouldn't lead to 4 move games. But atomic chess is a lot more explosive in that regard.
I paused and spent so long trying to figure out why no knight e3, gave up and unpaused only for Simp to say "and I just realized knight e3 would actually have won the game".
Funny thing about the last game: at the end, when you played Bxc1, your opponent could have offered one last bit of stubborn resistance with the retreat Rh1, threatening Rb1 with a forced win thanks to the en passant capture cxb6 after b5. Following Rh1, Re8! saves the game since you can hide the king with Kd8 after Rb1.

Atomic Chess is a lot more limited and stale than duck chess in my opinion. I'm already bored of this series due to it's hypermeta nature with forced solve moves. Duck chess definitely also has that but it took us much longer to reach a similar point. I like these deep dives into different variants. It had a good run. But I'd like to see him reach 2k in atomic chess and move on to something else.
