Best thing about chess, being a beginner means you have a higher chance of discovering something new since you're willing to make any move, even if that move loses. Mastering the game is about refining those discoveries and using them to your advantage. Its important to keep that sense of wonder and excitement as you play, otherwise chess becomes "I am good at the game, i just want to win" and you lose out on opportunities to enjoy yourself. Sometimes all it takes is a little enthusiasm and games like these happen. Never give up! The D(raw) is mightier than the W(in).

My ELO is about 600 right now. I was looking the other day at one of my favorite games I've played, in which I spent about half the midgame using just one knight to clear out my opponent's pieces through check forks. Focusing that much on one piece is of course not wise, but it worked. Primarily because my opponent passed several opportunities to capture it, only taking it with the king after being worn down to a few pawns.

This game is a case of your basic strategies, board awareness, knowing where certain pieces can move, and not blundering/giving away undefended pieces.
In the low 400s where I've been stuck at are usually filled with early queen attacks. Where pawns defending a pawn push or a pre-emptive knight move to defend the centre work well.
Here an early queen trade was attempted, both knew the queen had some significance on the board yet basically fumbled through the first 8 moves.
These videos have been very instructive and I've picked up a few strategies, even though I feel it's unfair to judge someone's potentially first few matches, it does make a good example of the basics.
