In this game:
- Diagonals are hard
- How do I checkmate without two queens
- Bongcloud is a winning opener.
Plus
- Rook can only move 2 squares
i've started playing chess today again after 15 years and this exactly describes my experience
When I was beginning chess, I got 4 to 6 queens due to pawn promotions and lost.
This was against Martin.
I had an Elo of like -infinity if that can happen.

It is comforting to know that even Magnus was a 100 Elo at one time. Of course this period only lasted about 38 seconds into his first game at the age of 3.
Best thing about chess, being a beginner means you have a higher chance of discovering something new since you're willing to make any move, even if that move loses. Mastering the game is about refining those discoveries and using them to your advantage. Its important to keep that sense of wonder and excitement as you play, otherwise chess becomes "I am good at the game, i just want to win" and you lose out on opportunities to enjoy yourself. Sometimes all it takes is a little enthusiasm and games like these happen. Never give up! The D(raw) is mightier than the W(in).
“Bishop can still take knight but it’s a long move…” had me dying 😂😂😂
Each player moving a hanged knight into another hanged position back to back did it for me.

That was hilarious. But really King rook end game is very difficult for beginners to logically figure out especially during a timed match, a draw was pretty much inevitable.
I have nightmares of this ending from when I was in a chess tournament at 11 and put in this situation and I just couldn’t figure out how to checkmate 😭 and I ended up resigning under the stress
Before, I didn't know it was possible to do checkmate with a single piece (rook) other than king left (only because I've never in the position to do so), but when I was given a rook and a king vs a king left, I did it very easily, I mean, I'm not flexing, and you don't even need any training or tricks to do it lol, it's just natural...

These guys have talent i mean they are so unpredictable, good luck creating any strategy in game against them.
I'm at 1100 and that's still a problem with some opponents, they just do the craziest things and I am never sure if it's a blunder or a really smart move and I'm just too dumb to see 😂
it’s easy just create an easily defensible position and wait for the opposing player to hang / blunder all their pieces, no need to take the offensive.
This must be how Stockfish feels like evaluating a Top-Level Game.
Their game was the chess embodiment of „never let them know your next move“ xD
Really fun to watch though and sometimes I felt the pain
When I play chess I think about my opponent's moves and ask myself, "what does that do for them now?" and even though I never come up with a satisfactory answer it's fun to think about
That ending note is hilarious, you outdid yourself again Levy
I was laughing so hard when Sykuno kept moving his rook one square at the time in the king vs king and rook endgame lolz

Also, they could both see the eval bar the whole game.
You're telling me they gained 4 minutes through 3 sec increments

Knowing Sykkuno's chat, I'm so sad I missed this 😂
I dont think I'm great at chess, but I am not terrible. Watching other stuff makes me feel so low, but watching this video, makes me feel like a genius.
My ELO is about 600 right now. I was looking the other day at one of my favorite games I've played, in which I spent about half the midgame using just one knight to clear out my opponent's pieces through check forks. Focusing that much on one piece is of course not wise, but it worked. Primarily because my opponent passed several opportunities to capture it, only taking it with the king after being worn down to a few pawns.
I think that as long as you know how pieces move and you want to win you can be better than 100 elo...
Yeh. I think we have established tho that sykkuno doesnt care about winning lol
Could be people with learning difficulties, without any prejudice whatsoever.
I mean as a complete beginner the 3 to 4 square rule states that anything past 3 to 4 squares has a 90%chance of gaining stealth effect so its like an luck based rpg
@@thelosts9940 sadly as you go up in eating that percentage declines 😭

Adiós my friends, maybe we will see each other again o7
I'd like to think I'm sliiightly better than Sykkuno, but I learn so much from every video you make. Thank you for explaining things like I'm five (or ten?) years old, it actually helps so much!!
I'm happy for you
I on the other hand needed 5 minutes to understand the "check in one" moment because i first had to figure out who was about to lose
This is like Gotham going into the gym and me watching him struggle to bench press the bar.
Bongcloud gives psychological advantage to the player playing it
“At this point he should check with the rook”
“Oh he does!! But he hangs the rook”
This game is a case of your basic strategies, board awareness, knowing where certain pieces can move, and not blundering/giving away undefended pieces.
In the low 400s where I've been stuck at are usually filled with early queen attacks. Where pawns defending a pawn push or a pre-emptive knight move to defend the centre work well.
Here an early queen trade was attempted, both knew the queen had some significance on the board yet basically fumbled through the first 8 moves.
These videos have been very instructive and I've picked up a few strategies, even though I feel it's unfair to judge someone's potentially first few matches, it does make a good example of the basics.
You cracked me with that punch line at the end 😂 I guess that when chess is played perfectly it is a draw
Never in my life did I think I would laugh hysterically at chess game coverage
