Unfortunately we now know that cold water immersion keeps our muscle cells from growing. The is has to do with satellites cells; this particular cells are kept from doing the job necessary to make your muscle compensate after a weight training workout. The effect of cold water stays for 30 hours. So if you have a weight training session every other day, you're screwed; you will NOT take advantage of your session. Not a good idea. As we get older we need to either cling or increase our muscle mass. Just google the subject and you'll find the relevant studies about cold water immersion impeding muscle growth after weight training sessions.
Every summer a bunch of kids from the Elgin YMCA, would go to their all boys summer camps, and the morning ritual would consist of a morning dip buck ass naked into the cold lake! The initial dive or jump into that cold water after just waking up was shocking! But that cold water shock would make your brain go into a reset mode! It seemed to start in your forehead area then shoot to the back of your head, down the spinal column to your toes! And the sound of the cold water enveloping your head and entering your ears was intense! So it makes sense to me that cold water swimming would be metal & physical therapy for your entire body! I remember how your senses seemed to be heightened for hours after the morning plunge!
Any near death experience will have the same effect.. Making your body think it's going to "end" , will make it "remind" and force his survival energy to wake up.. Our vital energy gets lazy and tossed aside when not required.. We have become too comfortable and safe.
I love to go out in the cold of winter for a couple of minutes. It makes me feel alive & then when you come back inside you appreciate the warm more.

That's what i thought 🤣🤣
Hypothermia, frostnip and frostbite for the win🎉😂
Yes, and nervous system specialists dont recommend ice baths, maybe a cold shower maximum, no need to shock yourself.

Would drinking cold water be as beneficial as well?
"short" "quick" ??? If this were scientific it would have numbers / times. 10 seconds? Five minutes? Both could fit those descriptions.
