Just Finished Building my Mustang added a light Kit as well which works around all new addition, If you buy a light kit, buy a really nice one with long enough wires and you can fit the batter box easily next to the other battery box behind the driver seat (make sure the switch is facing upwards) it should work out really well.
I put a motor in the Porsche 42056, there's an area at the end of the driveshaft underneath to put the motor, a few technic pieces to keep it secure, then I put the power box in the truck under the front hood, added a support and took out a pin to keep that supported. It's hard to power in 1st gear, but 2-4 are good to go!
Wow, that was quick! If it's not too difficult, could you post the parts list in the description? It'd be a lot easier for us to double check our parts. Thanks again for the very detailed video!
Just asking for everyone. Have you thought about getting a online shop and making bags of parts like the ones you show in your video to help other Lego fans out with setting up the power motors and stuff?
Just finished the build. 1st: To get those technic pins out (32:00 in the vid) was a pain in the ass. 2nd: The part you secure the gears and the motors in the back with the 3x2 bricks does not secure enough (42:20). One bad lift of the car and the connection between the bricks under it is gone and you need to rebuild a lot! I recomment to add two stacked 1x1 bricks on each side on top of it. That gives you the advantage that your cover with the plates is way more stable too. 3rd: I recommend to add bricks next to the battery box behind the drivers seat. That makes it look cleaner. 4th: I'm exhausted now. Sleep > Playing with the Mustang. :D
Anyone below with bad vibe, I say you do better because this guy completed and showed very well how he performed the two tasks for steering and motor. Top Job Ultimate Bricks a 100% winner with me.

So I finally gave this a try, for some reason my model looks very different at 31:19. Instead of two red axles, I seem to have a long grey axle(maybe two, not sure) connecting the 2x1 bricks together? I'm also not able pull out this grey axle, so gonna take a look the building instructions when I have some more time.
Just finished this build. Took my all night, but I'm very happy with the result, looks very slick. That rear end was a pain to put together, even with the bottom supports, I found it very unstable. I had to click the rear side fenders in to make everything secure, after adding more and more pieces it became a solid piece. Great tutorial, I'm sure I'll be keeping this modified model around for quite some time. Cheers!

I love that you made this video showing the conversion. Its probably better off for whoever is doing this just to add the motors and stuff while theyre building the car instead of building it then converting it. The whole thing has to come apart anyway

Alright, since you're going for the tutorial style video I've got a few things you need to improve on: 1) Camera placement. Your light source should be soft scattered light from the general direction of the camera but not like a single bulb. There are LED ring attachments to phones or make up light pads that you can use. This way the shadows won't get in the way of anything you want to show. Currently you have harsh light from above probably from two just two sources and the camera is not able to focus into the shadowy areas (or dark parts) without being really washed out in other places. Point powerful lamps at a big white area (like a wall or blanket or similar) to get the light more scattered. You can kinda never have too much light unless it's directly pointed at the thing you're shooting. 2) Microphone. You'll have two options: an independent microphone or a voice over. The integrated microphone does capture sound but it'll also capture all vibrations from the surface it's sitting on i.e. whenever you move the camera or bump the table we're going to hear a lot of unwanted popping. That's fine in a relatively short video but not in something that's almost an hour long. Voice over would be the better alternative - I know it's more work in the editing phase but it allows for useful things like freezing the image to draw arrows, scripting your tutorial or creating content that's of specific length. You can also always re-record only the voice part if you don't like your result but doing it like this in one go you'd have to re-shoot an entire segment. 3) Vocabulary. I guess you probably noticed it yourself as well but calling every single fender, quarterpanel, headlight and wheel well "this thing" is not terribly informative. If you do at least a little bit scripting beforehand you can look up words you don't know. Picture and sound should be redundant in a tutorial like this. We can see what you're pointing at but only if we're not looking at our own model at the same time. More often than not it's really helpful to be able to hear someone describe a procedure in words and be able to look at the model itself at the same time. 4) Supplementary imagery. This is really just a minor thing but in the very beginning you just said "you need these parts". Instead I think you should write the part list down and describe it. Example: "For this project we'll need the following parts [show list: 1x4 plate, 2x1 knob, 8x7 oval wheel] one 1 by 4 plate [show picture of plate], one 2 by 1 knob [show picture of knob] and this special 8 by 7 oval wheel [show picture of oval wheel] that came in the 2021 'star wars ultimate collector's edition ewok tree bike'." You sort of did this with the motors but you could add the name of each component in text as well as just showing them. Other than that I'm glad you're doing tutorials like this! Really helpful and by the looks of it you've got some good ideas about converting models. :) Keep it up!

The “Side things over the wheels” are called fenders. The “thing” over the steering wheel is called a dashboard. The piece below the windshield and behind the dashboard is the firewall. The “top of the engine” is the air cleaner.
Can anyone tell me if this can be done with the xl-motor aswell, spacewise? Its hard to get m-motors lately. Also how would the performance change. 2-3 xl vs 3 m motors. Cheers!

This video is great esp considering all the effort and patience required to make it. I like the design and lay out. only criticism I can see is there was one part that's not very common, (tecknk beam with studs and 5 axle holes) regardless it's still a great solution and well presented.
Great job on the video. Car terminology could use some work but overall, lots of detail and explanation. Why though do we have an hour long video on how to motorize the Mustang and then you never show how it works and performs at the end of the video?!? People would want to see this before making the investment in time and parts.

I went to Lille, France for a school trip. We were finished with our task early so we went to the mall. In the Lego Store I saw this model, i wanted to buy it, but it was too expensive. a couple of days later my uncle who was in Madrid messaged my mom to ask if I would like a Lego Ford mustang. that is how I got mine.
I just upgraded my mustang with LEDs, and I would like to motorize it as well. However it looks like it will be very difficult to pull it off, because the lack of space. However I might try regardless.

Not using a servo for steering is just bonkers. Apart from that (and the cluelessness in regards to part names, as many others have pointed out), I think you did rather well. The almost seamless incorporation is top notch.

Actually no The original model has a feature that raises up the back wheels to make the car higher up off the ground This is different than suspension
