Hey guys! So listen...I realize I'm getting a lot of heavy slack on the lighting in this video. Please keep in mind, I made this video over a year ago when I first started my channel, I was still exploring lighting and setting up and trying to perfect videos. It's not an easy task. So instead of picking out my flaws enjoy and appreciate the technique I share with you , for free! You can also opt to turn up the brightness on your phone if you are viewing from one, most phones are set to 50% brightness and if you bump it up you can definitely see it better. Just be kind guys ok.
Your voice is very soothing. Iyt was a great pleasure listening to your very clear instructions. I am new and you have given me the boost I needed. I love math!
Marci! I am so happy to see you doing more tutorials. I have missed you! This was very helpful because I have never used my grids for circles, ovals, etc. despite having purchased them twice duh! I always love seeing new elements and new ideas for my Mandalas. Bless you sweetheart keep the videos coming because I will be watching!❤
This is great video, all the ones I've been watching do the same thing, dots all over or a couple of other items but very blah...I will definitely be following you and I am purchasing black cardstock at Walmart, pretty good thickness as well. Thanks for the response.
If you're watching this on your phone, try to up your brightness and your settings. I made this video a long time ago when I was first starting out, I didn't have all the proper equipment.
About how long does it take for the dots to dry. I know the larger ones with more paint would take longer. Also, could you dry with a heat gun. I know you couldn't hold close, or it would distort the dot.
Hey Brenda! So acrylic paint usually dries rather quickly. matter of minutes. Unless you have rather large dots then i would suggest walking away and letting them air dry. Most of the time as I go around in the circular pattern of the mandala by the time I get back to the starting point they are starting to dry. You could try a heat gun but I don't think its necessary.
Thank you!! I use a white watercolor pencil by Faber castell. Usually you can find them at hobby lobby stores if you're in the States. Watercolor sharpens way better than charcoal. 👍
Thank you! I'm going to try implementing some of these design elements into one of my mandalas. I'm horrid at math. How do you determine spacing and size of circles on a layer? Is there a formula? Or just wing it? :-)
Hi thank you! I usually factor in how many segments I choose to use and then lay these circle templates on those segments. I have a video explaining segments, check it out. 😊
You could probably get away with just buying heavy black cardstock. The disks I used in this were cardboard but thicker than cardstock. I found them online for about the same price as cardstock..$5-7

Thank you for a very helpful tutorial. A little more lighting would be great. Sometimes hard to see when the picture goes dark.

What is the best eraser for the white water color pencil?
@@dunhamja no need for erasers with watercolor pencils. All you need is a damp cloth or wet qtip. 👍

Thanks Jen! RUclips is supposed to automatically make chapters but they are slacking in that department. 👍

Can't see what you're doing. You need more light on what you're doing, please.
What black paper do you feel is best to practice on?
Which one is best or that you use?
