  • This video explores a new tool that I’ve been hooked on for months now - Applicator Bottles for applying thick, shiny, tactile dots. It's my new favorite dotting tool. It's a great way to add texture and bumpy braille-like dots to your paintings. If you’ve purchased this kit from my Etsy shop, this is your intro video so you can jump right in to all the stuff you’ll need to know to get started : )
    Here's what we'll cover:
    3:40 • What’s in the Kit
8:03 • Spiky, Puffy, Round, Flat Dots
    11:03 • Paint - Fluid, Medium, Heavy
15:25 • Thinning and Thickening Paint
    16:50 • Paint Tests
24:26 • Mixing Paint in the Bottle
    27:46 • Cleaning the Tips
    33:51 • Cleaning the Bottles
35:08 • Dry Paint Test Results

I am SO excited about learning how to do this. I have a friend who's sister is vision impaired. She has seen (in a limited way) some of my work and was asking how raised the dots are. Well, a bit but not enough for her to really enjoy the layering. So, I thought I'd go on the hunt and see how to start doing "puffy" dots. This video is extremely helpful and I'm looking forward to exploring this facet of dotting.

This is an absolutely fabulous tutorial! Especially for us beginners (that never even considered attempting to tackle this art form...until about an hour ago 😉) This has been incredibly informative. And the knowledge obtained here, will save hours of experimenting, frustration...and the loss/cost of projects simply by knowing what to expect and/or how to get the desired look and outcome. So happy that I found your channel, and was immensely fortunate that this was the 1st video that I viewed. Thank you!

Not that it makes much difference, because I was definitely able to discern what information you were trying to relay...but just as an fyi...the word that best describes what the difference is in the "consistency" that you're trying to convey is "viscosity". Thank you again, for this awesome tutorial!

I’m so glad to have found this video, I have wondered if there was any other way, other than the paper cones. That just looked to be way out of my abilities, heck I tried those in cake decorating and it was a mild failure, I can only imagine what disaster...me...paper cones and paint would create! My gosh, what an informative piece you’ve made, thank you! I absolutely love your urchins, the colors you put together were just spectacular...and YES, please show us you working on that fabulous guitar! I would love to see that for sure!

I had the same problem with diy cones. It was a total disaster. It worked for the urchins because the dot shapes could be wonky and organic looking but for precision I need the bottles and tips. I’m so glad you found this video helpful! 💗👍✨ Have fun experimenting!

I am convinced applicator bottles are THE way to dot. I use them constantly as I am doing tshirts, jean jackets, hats, shoes, etc. They are so useful.
I just substitute the pouring medium for fabric medium with heavy body acrylics.
