Get a simple Casio digital watch, mine tells me time in HH:MM:SS with the day, and date. You can also set alarms and stopwatch on it and press a button to make it illuminate when you can’t see it when it’s dark

Gene - get yourself a Swatch with SwatchPay. It's just a normal comfortable classic Swatch, but with an NFC payment chip inside. No charging required, but you can still pay from your wrist which will mean even less time getting distracted by your phone. Gamechanger for me!!

7:17 Sony FX30 vs. the Canon R7 does sound like a good video! I'd like to know for sure that the cameras can write video to both SD cards at the same time for backup purposes and if there are any quirks. I'm also curious about efficient codec support at 4k like h.265 hevc, their spec sheets get confusing.)

You must get a Casio G(ene) Shock GA 2100 or GA B2100 (Bluetooth and Solar). Has a good reputation in the watch world.
It's shock resistant and water resistant upto 200m. Actually, sounds like you.
    It's priced under $150.
You better get one for Kari and Dylan too...
    ✌️

Gene, I recommend the Casio F91W watch for you. It's cheap (less than $15), it's minimal, and it's functional. Perfect watch for someone like you who doesn't want anything fancy. I have it myself and I can say this is built like a tank. It has time, day, and date. Also, it has a feature that beeps every hour which is a bonus for me since I can easily lost track of the time. Great watch for the price that you'll pay.

casio f91W-1 are pretty much the lowest profile digital ones you could get. it's pretty indestructible too and to add to that it's hella cheap. you don't get notifications on it tho(if you prefer that one) but the battery lasts forever and it's super light.
if you'd prefer a bigger face/ a more robust case, casio offers some sport watches and i've had mine for a little over 5 years now. only had to change the battery once, and had taken that said watch through hell and back. It's cheap too. :)

For a good watch that isn't bulky and that helps me stay on my schedule and off of my phone....honestly my Apple Watch is about impossible to beat. Hi Gene, why not an apple/android watch? If the goal is to be more timely and reach for your phone less....smartwatches can keep you aligned with your calendar, time, and who is calling without reaching for the phone. I've removed notifications from most apps except calendar and phone..that way no distractions.

I would get a g-shock, some of them are pretty basic and won't distract you, they're built extremely tough and can stand up to years of abuse, they have 200m water resistance which means you can scuba dive with it and if you get one that's like the DW-5600 model it's not too bulky.

Citizen super titanium is one of my next flex budget watches, at one point i collected them, its plain enough that you might only look and see the time, but sleek enough and has a metal band that it might look good, also, any casio or armitron that suite your fancy can be great insanely long lasting watches. PS. fancy watches have to be re-water proofed if you ever change the battery which is extra money.... ask me how I know...

I can suggest Garmin Fenix watches - they have great features for running/hiking and many other sports (like full offline maps), but battery lasts for 2-3 weeks. And you still get your notifications from your phone on your wrist. But if you think it’s too much noise you can also use it just as a watch with heart rate monitoring :)

Definitely need more context of what you are looking for in a wristwatch. In terms of power, there are quartz watches that run on tiny "replaceable" batteries, manual wind watches, automatic wind watches, mechanical hacking watches (automatic but can be wound manually also), solar powered watches, and finally rechargeable watches. Quartz watches (Citizen, Casio, Seiko Quartz, Timex) are usually the cheapest but also the most accurate, if you only need it to tell time and can have the battery replaced by a professional every few years. The mechanical watches (manual, auto, and hacking) need to be wound or worn daily but are more desirable. If you forget, you have to set the time again and wind it. Basically every expensive watch is going to be in this category but there are more reasonably priced options. I have had the Hamilton Khaki King since 2015 and still wear it daily. Citizen Eco-Drive, Seiko Solar, Timex Solar, and Casio all make solar powered watches - don't stow these in a drawer or they will be permanently dead. Rechargeable watches will usually be also a fitness tracker or a smart watch. Withings makes a fitness tracking watch that is styled more like a classic analog watch if owning an Apple watch might be too distracting for you. Garmin fenix is common to see on triathletes and such. I believe fitbits have the time on them as well. In terms of styles there are dive watches, pilot watches, field watches, bauhaus, chronographs (Omega Speedmaster was worn on the moon), dress watches, GMT, and digital. Hope this wasn't too long winded and confusing.

First of all I’m a big Apple fanboy, with that said that I would say that the Apple Watch ultra is by far one of my best investment (in myself) I’ve done in a very long time. It does not really fit you category of being not bulky which is one downside perhaps but I personally have never felt like it’s in the way and it is definitely not as “HUGE” as some might make you believe. Being able to leave my phone at home or tucked away when I’m working, tracking my sleep (have always had bad sleep) and my training, having my todo list for the day on the wrist and so much more make it worth every penny in my opinion. It helps me be a better version of me in short and that is not even a slight exaggeration! (Btw also has ADHD and is a med student so being productive is a have to for me and it is always hard but my Apple Watch makes is much easier I feel like). I have had an Apple Watch since the first one and the Ultra is my third one (had series 5 LTE before) but the value I get out of it compared to my last one is not even comparable!! Oh last thing, you can almost not destroy it and I kid you not on that part!! Just watch this video and you’ll understand what I mean ruclips.net/video/A72Ckh990j0/видео.html

I really recommend the xiaomi mi band, it's not super expensive, you can customise your notifications for only things that are time-sensitive(/important) and apart from being a watch, it's also an activity tracker.
(I have a similar band from samsung, it's perfect for me because it's small and light enough that i forget it's on my hand and I can go about my daily tasks without hinderance, I'm not suggesting the one I have cos they no longer make them anymore)
