I'm an absolute beginner who was seduced by the thought of listening to aircraft-tower convos and any other communications of interest. However, I bought a better aerial as was told the factory one was no good, but have still only managed to get one transmission, one side of what I assume were hams chatting. Here in the UK there is no radio weather service that they have in the US, and out emergency services use some other more complex system that is pretty much unavailable to Baofeng users. What I'm wondering is, if you were in my shoes how would you go about learning to use this radio? I know nobody with one, and due to health reasons am pretty much a hermit. The instructions are of course aimed at people who don't need to learn all the jargon, acronyms etc, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I looked up the local airport tower frequency but the moment I type it in the screen reverts to the previous number. It is very frustrating, but I fully realise the radio is not aimed at people with my almost total lack of knowledge.
When I got mine the middle row of numeric keys ( 4,5 and 6) stopped working and the torch/ flashlight stopped working, despite a reset it still doesn't work as expected.
Ali Express now has a UV-17 pro plus. I have ordered one but not yet received it. It has a 10W Tx output and a 4800 mAH battery. I think it is a USA model and I don't know if there is a British/Euro version.
I have one of these and I tried to do the “reset” on it pressing button below key up button, key up button and #… the screen went black the flash light turned on and it doesn’t do anything now 😢
Me again, just checked the Ali Express Link you have on here and there is only the Orange Models left, Green & Black are SOLD OUT, that's how I ended up with an Orange one...lol😂😂😂

Have you figured out how to Scan in the Memory Mode? or is it only possible in the Frequency mode?

Looks like the GPS UV17 Pro version 2 is currently not available, I ordered the GPS version but they sent me the standard Version 2-UV17

Try again u can't brick there u may need load firmware.
