I usually do try to mention my height, especially on motorcycles. I'm about 6 feet tall. Can't remember my exact inseam, but I don't know that it matters as much on this vehicle. I'll definitely try to do comparisons in the near future.
I'll have this bike again where I'll do some more specialized videos with it, like what it's like to drive, what you can fit and can't fit inside each storage place, and more. Feel free to subscribe for more clear content.
After a lifetime of working with my right hand and now suffering from arthritis. This Can Am L td is beckoning to provide a few more years in the saddle. Colour and style is to my taste so here's hoping I can find e reasonable UK dealer.😊
One thing drives me crazy on these, why not having front brake lever? Get this machine adopted to all types of riders and very tall one too. I went to look at one and was very disappointed. Not comfortable dealing with brakes when you do city rides. You can get it aftermarket, but why? What a pain and a pooper. I left the dealer. Didn't want even to ride one.
That's fair. I wonder if anyone has come up with a reliable aftermarket system. To be honest, I haven't even checked to see if Can Am has it's own branded solution.
I have a 2024 Can Am Spyder RT Limited in which the Apple Car Play does NOT function! Waiting for Can Am to release an update! It was to be released mid February ....but as of Feb 29th has NOT released! Anxiously awaiting!
Test drove a new one 3 years ago and in 2023 last year. Last year's test was like 3 years ago. The Can-Am big trailer stopped locally and we were able to take a guided ride of almost 1 hour. I'm trying to like this trike, but both times I test rode one the bike had a "twitching" motion on roads that are not perfectly smooth and flat. Seemed like it wanted to "wander on its own". So, I'm not a buyer, now but maybe when I can test ride one that doesn't wander all over, I might just be a buyer.
Ok. The big question I keep getting different answers for. Do you have to have a Motorcycle license for it? Or just regular driver license? Thank you. And thank you for these videos! First time I saw the Spyder, I was very interested
It will depend on where you live. In general (don't take this as gospel truth) a motorcycle license will almost always let you ride it. Many regions have a license that allows you to drive 3 wheeled vehicles like this, and some regions allow you to drive this with a car license. In short, it's really not that difficult to get a license that is valid for these. Can Am dealers in every region are well trained in helping their shoppers become licensed to drive these, and I wouldn't let it stress you if you don't currently hold the correct license to drive this.
@@PeterLoweOne ok. Kinda what I thought. It is a grey area. Trikes, in general are "confusing". They want you to take the class, but no one wants to teach trike. Either way, I guess I'll hit up my local dealer. Thank you very much for the response!
If you already have a MC endorsement, then this is a no brainer. If you don't have one, go to class and get one! Chances are if you ride in multiple states you will need one. Simple as that.
I can't deny it's a hell of a lot of machine, but what with insurance nowadays, riding gear and the 'essential' optional extras, I doubt one gets much change from £40K. 🤔😉
There is a USB for it.... I'm going by memory now, but I think it was in a glove compartment over the gauges on the F3. I don't remember if it's in a similar spot on the RT. I just remember it being accessible. That's the problem with me being around so many motorcycles each day. Details like that blend together in my brain.
😊 okay what about two passengers with two helmets it irritates me with Harley that you cannot put two helmets in the rear cargo area. I'm hoping that you can put two helmets in the front compartment the frunk as you called it?
No cup holders, squirrely front steering (any slight move makes it jump), why isn't the drivers back support not standard?, Apple CarPlay needs work (cluggy feel), Engine is awesome, very powerful, strong centrifugal pull force on turns (in direction away from turn) requires strong lean into turn, Nice floor boards for relaxed stance, tremendous storage options, Seats very comfortable, Moving windshield is gimmick, Gas under seat, whining sound from front end between 45 - 52 mph, needs more front lamps, stereo system is great (can hear it with helmet on and shield down), absolutely heavy (reverse is needed), really needs 6 feet width for any trailer travel to remote destinations (most trailer door openings are 5' 2" [although inside width is 5'8"). The shifter is weird, left thumb push shift (no need to let off gas), Reverse requires throttle up, Parking Brake warning for 20 seconds (REALLY?), Right foot brake is weird too (I kept looking for front brake along with shifter). It does not feel like a motorcycle!
Id have one but my dealer is not well focused on them. They only have 2 in stock and they are last years models so it's obvious they can't get this years model until those are sold. The sales people couldn't answer questions that I already knew the answers to (testing their knowledge). Their focus is on dirt bikes and side by sides. They are the only dealer for 1,000 miles which makes it not an option for me. Too bad too because I find it to be a better handling machine than a Harley tri glide. Be sure to watch videos on problems with both Spyder and Tri Glide before buying any of them
Same thing here! They don't even allow test rides AND they didn't even know that it has electronic power steering! The sales staff sucks when I came in knowing more about 😂spyder than they do! Ride Now needs to get on board in Tucson or get out of the business!
That is part of the LINQ system, (the accessory lineup that is compatible across BRP products) but that one is placed on a ATV in the showroom. I don't know for sure if it would fit the Spyder, but it might! You could screenshot the video clip and ask your local dealer. I'm not sure if it's fully cross compatible with the Spyder. The system of attachment would be the same, but the spacing of attachment points may not line up with the Spyder's points.
If Harley invented this bike as the Harley Davidson Spyder - all the “it’s not a motorcycle” kids would not only say it is in fact a motorcycle, but they’d spend $50,000 on it…..
Nope, here is my response today. I understand your concern about the Apple Car Play for your unit. The feature was initially planned for the new 10.25 display screens but had to be removed due to bugs. Although it was released on April 3rd, it had some compatibility issues and was removed again. Rest assured, BRP is actively collaborating with Apple to address this issue. However, as of now, there is no specific timeline for when the fix will be available. I appreciate your patience as we work on resolving this matter.
I now have a Goldwing Tour DCT and love the bike. Before that I owned 4 BMW K1600’s. They were great bikes but I wanted to try out a DCT ‘Wing. I have over several years gone to Spyder dealers and taken test rides on the top tier bikes. I have always come away from Spyders with a negative feeling about them. Each Spyder I rode seemed to have a lag from gear to gear when shifting it. Do they still have that in between each gear up shift lag? I don’t understand why They don’t give the top tier Spyder a bigger engine with more power. 115 hp seems at bit lacking to me and why don’t they have a transmission that automatically upshifts similar to the Goldwing DCT?? The technology is obviously there why not employ it?? In most other respects I think it’s a great trike and much better than a trike with two wheels in the rear that fights you when turning. I could easily see myself buying a Spyder if they made changes to what I mentioned, but not quite yet. Rick H.
I think these are programmed to be different, but different doesn't always mean it's a problem. You do raise a good point about fully automatic shifting. Personally, I like the involvement of shifting, but I'm not sure why it only shifts down automatically, and not up.
You don't need your left leg to do anything on this bike, so I would think this should work perfectly for you. The brake is on the right side, just like a car, so you should be good to go.
When will they give the high end RTs a shaft drive and a single side sidearm and 16” tires! Thats all I ask the Ryker has had it for years now! Dump Kendha tires too!
Yeah, these aren't cheap for motorcycles, but they're much more able to replace a car than many motorcycles. It's definitely on my someday list! Thanks for watching!
If you do have a passenger, some of them can get well wedged in front an back and not need to hold the rider or rear rack. The frunk makes it great for camping-no need for a trailer.@@PeterLoweOne
@@johndefalque5061 I agree that there's no need for a trailer, but it's pretty cool that you can take one and it's a factory option to have the hitch and wiring, not just an aftermarket add on.
I don't think they were... but I'll watch the video again to see what you're saying. Keep in mind, I weigh about 180 lbs and was putting my full weight on one side at a time.
The Spyder is decently plush. It actually has a good amount of suspension travel, but I'll have to seek something like that out when I do a riding review in the coming months.
@@PeterLoweOne Reason I am asking is that I have been traveling a lot to a city in Mexico a lot the last 5 years, and now, my work is moving me there. I already got a place there, nice with lots of security, including traffic security, which means they are trying to slow speed down with a lot of humps, sometimes bumps, and they are, well, lets just say, not a smooth little hump that is hardly noticable. They are quite steep, and high. I want to be somewhat sure it can make them. I guess I could test ride, but the dealerships, yes there are several, are usually not very keen on letting people test drive. Honestly, dont know how they sell anything without letting people test drive. Heard the Rally version is somewhat taller than the standard, and the sport.
@@dxhamshack7905 So the Rally and Sport models aren't what you see in this particular video. This video features the Spyder, and you're talking about the Ryker. That model does have less ground clearance, and less suspension travel, but it also has a shorter wheelbase. I would guess that you want to lean towards the Ryker Rally over the Ryker Sport for the extra ground clearance, and I would also assume that a good dealer would be willing to do a deal on the condition that you don't bottom out on the way to your home. They very likely have a demo vehicle which could be tested out on those roads to secure the deal.
@@PeterLoweOne Yes your right, I been looking both at the Ryker and the Spyder. I guess I will have to have to try to test drive, also the place I live the drive way is quite steep so could be an issue with low clearance as well. Thank you for a good channel.
Of course its a motorcycle, its just not a bike... some people think motorcycle means bike though. Motorized Bicycle or Motorized Tricycle, both are Motorcycle
Yeah. It genuinely doesn't bother me how people classify this. It's FUN, and versatile, and interesting, and it's something that really appeals to a lot of people. I find that the comment section on videos like this tend to fill with people demanding that I call it one thing or another, but at the end of the day, I'd someone wants to call it a motorcycle, I'm fine with that, if they'd rather not call it a motorcycle, I'm fine with that too. What it is, is something special!
No it is a three wheeled high powered golf cart for retired people that think Harley's are cool(which they've never been) but are too overweight or handicapped to ride an actual motorcycle. Motorcycles have actual transmissions with clutches. Honestly just buy a Mazda Miata instead it is a much better machine and people wont laugh as hard at you driving one of those.
@@trevorD1156 So, just to be clear to everyone else reading this, it's clear that this isn't for Trevor. It's also a little odd how much it bothers Trevor that this may be a great vehicle for someone else. So, Trevor, if you'd prefer to drive a Harley, or a Miata, that's cool. I like both of those as well. But we're going to be over here enjoying this thing that you clearly don't understand or appreciate. All good. Thanks for the comment. 🤷♂️
@@PeterLoweOneI can ride bicycles, tricycle, motorcycle, and I can motortricycles. While I am older, I am not over 60, not overweight, and I workout daily. I took the cam am course because they are fun, and I don’t have to worry too much about leaning, skidding, or trying to prove myself to some young bikie on two wheels who thinks less of my choice. I am a safe driver who wants to tour with her husband without worrying about load dampening because I am a girls who loves her clothes, camping and just having fun. The young ones one day will be old. Cheers to the old, the disabled and overweight people for getting on a Can Am to have fun.
Oooh. I have no idea. I'm Canadian, and I wouldn't even know what a 3 year old model would sell for in Canada! You'd have to check the online listings and stop by local dealers to see what they have to say.
I think it depends on the user. Generally doing that hurts fuel efficiency. I'd love to see them offer either a performance version, or even a hybrid version that would be a top of the line option for those who want more power or efficiency. A hybrid solution could offer both more power and more efficiency, but they're probably priced as high as most people would want to pay... So there's always that factor too.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are usually negotiated separately with manufacturers. I don't have any insight as to why this has one and not the other. Maybe they spoke to Apple and not Google, maybe there were reasons why this made sense. Honda is a different animal all together, my guess is that a MASSIVE company like Honda, negotiated deals with both companies for ALL of their vehicles, Honda Cars, Honda Bikes, Acura etc, where Can Am wouldn't likely have the same negotiating power with such a small offering of vehicles that would benefit from CarPlay and Android Auto.
I don't mention it because they don't offer it. That's not my decision, that's Can Am's decision, so if it's an issue for you, a note directed to them is going to have more impact than one directed to me. There's nothing I can do about it.
@@PeterLoweOne I had to use my Google Fu skills and prowl their site to uncover the reason. It seems that Google no longer supports Android Auto on vehicles they classify as motorcycles. It seems that the good folks at Can Am are working on a workaround with their infotainment source for future release. So there is hope for us poor folks.
They're unfamiliar to regular mechanics who work on bikes or cars, but the Rotax engines in them are extremely popular worldwide in all kinds of vehicles, even airplanes. Your comment is an example of why people need to do proper research, and not just take the word of an internet commenter. It's like saying that electric cars will never be accepted by anyone, and at the same time seeing the Tesla model Y as the best selling vehicle in the world. Servicing these should be done by people who understand them, and I've talked to the techs at Torque Motorsports who service these all the time and have no concerns with them. Yes you need to talk to the right people, but when you do, you get the right answer.
I didn't lose you, Can Am did. Each system has different requirements of the manufacturer, and CarPlay seems to be much more popular in motorcycles. I'm not sure if Apple makes it easier for manufacturers to integrate the system?
I'm guessing you are wondering why they went with CarPlay instead of Android Auto? All I can assume is that there is a cost with licensing this software, and maybe they didn't feel there was a business deal to be made at this point? I'm not sure.
That's Not a Bike, That's Snowmobile with wheels!!. I'll keep my new Harley Tri-Glide, And i'll have twice to three times the resale value in years to come!..LOL!!
I’m glad you love your Harley. I’d love to try one sometime. I can’t see how it would be more fun than these. Basic physics gives this some huge advantages in steering and braking, but as I said, I’d love to try one to compare.
As a fan of the Miata, I completely understand where you're coming from. However it's not like you can't like them both. I love the Miata and I love this. It doesn't have to be an either/or thing. If you don't see the point of this, then it's not for you. Riding this is a completely different experience than driving a Miata, but there's definitely some overlap in interest and use cases between the two.
Not even remotely the same as a car. I've ridden a friends Spyder a lot, and its amazing and nothing at all like a car, its so much better. It is a motorcycle, as motorcycle doesn't mean bike. Motorized Bicycle and Motorized Tricycle both shorten to Motorcycle

I usually do try to mention my height, especially on motorcycles. I'm about 6 feet tall. Can't remember my exact inseam, but I don't know that it matters as much on this vehicle. I'll definitely try to do comparisons in the near future.
Your reviews are incredible!! Would love to see you review the Sea to Sky.
I'll be doing that soon. Stay tuned!
If you are going to show space in trunks etc - put something in it so that everyone can relate to it - like a helmet! Or two
I'll have this bike again where I'll do some more specialized videos with it, like what it's like to drive, what you can fit and can't fit inside each storage place, and more. Feel free to subscribe for more clear content.
Does the 2024 Spyder RT Limited come with a belt tensioner installed?
After a lifetime of working with my right hand and now suffering from arthritis. This Can Am L td is beckoning to provide a few more years in the saddle. Colour and style is to my taste so here's hoping I can find e reasonable UK dealer.😊
What drivers license is required for this machine?
One thing drives me crazy on these, why not having front brake lever? Get this machine adopted to all types of riders and very tall one too. I went to look at one and was very disappointed. Not comfortable dealing with brakes when you do city rides. You can get it aftermarket, but why? What a pain and a pooper. I left the dealer. Didn't want even to ride one.
How did it come in the bright red? The Can Am website doesn't show that color in the RT Limited. Is it special order?
I film in Canada. Maybe colours are different where you are?
I wished it had a handle bar brake on it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That's fair. I wonder if anyone has come up with a reliable aftermarket system. To be honest, I haven't even checked to see if Can Am has it's own branded solution.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Same here.
@@PeterLoweOne Yes. Its available and expensive too.
I have a 2024 Can Am Spyder RT Limited in which the Apple Car Play does NOT function! Waiting for Can Am to release an update! It was to be released mid February ....but as of Feb 29th has NOT released! Anxiously awaiting!
My understanding is that it should come soon. But again, don't shoot the messenger, I'm not tied in to the actual information.
I like it. I have a 2021 F-3S and it is awesome!! It’s like driving a Formula 1 race car just not quite as quick!!!
I can't wait to review and ride the F3. I still think the RT is my favourite though... I just need to earn a little more. 😉
How many full face helmets can you fit in those bags/trunks?
You can fit 2 full face helmets in the trunk.
Does they have sirus xm radio option an android car play
I have the 2012 rt. I love her.
2016RT-S here. A great ride.
I can't deny it's a hell of a lot of machine, but what with insurance nowadays, riding gear and the 'essential' optional extras, I doubt one gets much change from £40K. 🤔😉
They're not cheap, but literally nothing out there gives the same feeling.
Still needs Baja Ron sway bar, elka suspension, cat delete pipe to get started. Than take it from there.
Every employee needs a spider for work and running aarons.
Where does the cell phone go? Glove box? Is there a usb connector for it?
In Colorado Spyders and Rykers are licensed as motorcycles. And the insurance companies cover them as motorcycles.
Yeah. That's common in many places. Insurance is reasonable for both here in Canada.
Wow, this looks awesome. But I am fantasizing. lol. I have never rode before so for me I would have to get a motorcycle license. Etc, Scary.
Nobody is mentioning the bigger foot break
please tell me. what is that huge luggage case in top right corner of the video at 14:25 ? is is a replacement for standart top box of the spyder?
That is part of the LINQ system, (the accessory lineup that is compatible across BRP products) but that one is placed on a ATV in the showroom. I don't know for sure if it would fit the Spyder, but it might! You could screenshot the video clip and ask your local dealer. I'm not sure if it's fully cross compatible with the Spyder. The system of attachment would be the same, but the spacing of attachment points may not line up with the Spyder's points.
@@PeterLoweOne million thanks)
Brilliant ...ThankQ🌻
If Harley invented this bike as the Harley Davidson Spyder - all the “it’s not a motorcycle” kids would not only say it is in fact a motorcycle, but they’d spend $50,000 on it…..
14:07 does the bike when you buy it come with a helmet or do you gotta buy it separately
Separately! 😊
When are they going to get Apple CarPlay straightened out?
I'm pretty sure it should work now. Am I wrong? I thought it had been completed.
Beautiful Bike...little OVERPRICED..but nice😊
I don't know about overpriced. It's not cheap, but there's value in this for sure.
A little overpriced???? ...It's the size of a Mazda Miata!
They are about the same price as a Goldwing or Harley.
Peter, what’s with the excessive “sort of”s????
Send me your sermons and I'll critique them for you in the same way. 👍
@@PeterLoweOne 👌🏾😊
Nice bike
Soooo… as an amputee (left lower leg), I don’t have to make any modifications?
You don't need your left leg to do anything on this bike, so I would think this should work perfectly for you. The brake is on the right side, just like a car, so you should be good to go.
@@PeterLoweOne thanks, I own several motorcycles and love to ride but restricted to my modified and semiautomatics.
Boa noite,a onde eu compro e quanto custa esse triciclo?
When will they give the high end RTs a shaft drive and a single side sidearm and 16” tires! Thats all I ask the Ryker has had it for years now! Dump Kendha tires too!
Nice💯
Nice colour. I doubt I could ever afford one though.
Is it me but those floor boards were real loose. ?
I don't think they were... but I'll watch the video again to see what you're saying. Keep in mind, I weigh about 180 lbs and was putting my full weight on one side at a time.

@@johnfranktullo3463 I've seen big people on these. I think you'll be fine. They feel secure to me on the several Spyders that I've sat on.
Nice I like it
Me too!
How does it do with high speed humps-bumps?
How much
The link in the description will have up to date pricing information.

How much does a 3-year-old, good-condition, used gem of this cost in LA?
Oooh. I have no idea. I'm Canadian, and I wouldn't even know what a 3 year old model would sell for in Canada! You'd have to check the online listings and stop by local dealers to see what they have to say.
So no Android Auto for their 2024 models? You sort of danced around that so I'm not sure.
I didn't dance around it. I talked about what it has. It has CarPlay. If it had Android Auto I would have mentioned that as well.
Just got mine yesterday. Carplay only works if you have comm system in your helmet.
Interesting.
Can-Am needs to up horsepower and torque on the engine
I think it depends on the user. Generally doing that hurts fuel efficiency. I'd love to see them offer either a performance version, or even a hybrid version that would be a top of the line option for those who want more power or efficiency. A hybrid solution could offer both more power and more efficiency, but they're probably priced as high as most people would want to pay... So there's always that factor too.

Are we talking Canadian dollars?
My biggest concern with a Spyder is the low clearance. We have some 5+ inch speed bumps in my town.
It clears speed bumps much better than I thought it would. If you had abnormally large ones, you could go diagonally over them.
And can somebody load tools on it like I will.
2024 and still no Android Auto!. I will stay with my Goldwing
Android for Motorcycles was cancelled, now only Apply Car Play is an option.

You are so focused on Apple Carplay, but no mention is made of Android Auto which would be of interest to at least half of us.

Who would want a ca-am? Nobody wants to work on them that should tell you something.
It’s a car with 3 wheels and no roof 😂😂
NOPE. Cars have steering wheels.
I think it's cool. Sounds like it's not for you, and that's fine.
sorry you lost me at the apple car play the need both i am and android user not replaceing my phone for this
I didn't lose you, Can Am did. Each system has different requirements of the manufacturer, and CarPlay seems to be much more popular in motorcycles. I'm not sure if Apple makes it easier for manufacturers to integrate the system?
Cruise control???
Yup
Android??
Ya ok… test drove the tri glide. Terrible.
What is the point of a trike? Why not get an MX5 instead? A trike is not a motorcycle.
