Wow, Blessing! I love the way you were rocked by this song. Believe it or not, it was a B-side single, meaning it was backed by a song (the A side) that they thought was even better ("Get Back.") The group had spent the month of January 1969 working on new songs, finishing them off in their London (Apple) headquarters. Almost spontaneously, at the end of the month, they decided to go up on the roof of that very building and belt them out to the streets of London -- without any advance announcement! I was a senior at the American School in London, only about 2 miles away, when they delivered this performance. 😊 I was the leader of my own band, Gafoja, at the time, and we recorded a tape of our original material -- most of which I wrote. About three months after this performance, Gafoja's drummer and I dropped off our tape on the ground floor of the same building (Apple HQ)! At the time, the Beatles were soliciting new artists to join their label. About a month later, we got the tape back with a lovely "no thank you" letter printed on their stationery. No problem. I still treasure it. 😁 (FYI, I played bass and sang lead vocals on several of our tracks. Let me know if you want me to send you an MP3 of a track or two. 😊)
No choreography, what you see is real. Young men still in their twenties. Masters of their art. Using basic sound systems outdoors no ear pieces. At the time we all took the performance for granted over 54 years later it's just stunning.
For sure. There are lot of fools out there. The Beatles were a tight unit, not a group of soloists fighting for attention. Ringo played inside every song and invented drum set riffs that even today everyone mimics.
Very amazed new generations discovering and appreciating The Beatles admiring them and knowing their significance as a new sound amidst todays scrap materials..
Yes, the final rooftop concert. It’s been said by then The Beatles had shifted their entire focus to studio innovation. But they still felt the urge to go jam out on the roof. Guess the studio just couldn’t contain such true performers.
That's George Harrison-the lead guitarist of the group. You also see John and Paul up front (of course) with Ringo on the drums, and Billy Preston on the electric piano.
It is sad to accept that in just 8 months after this rooftop performance The BEATLES, the Greatest Band the world will ever know, broke up. After 7 years, 11 Studio Albums, Two EP length Soundtracks and 22 British singles, the four Beatles would never be in the same room together again. The "What if's" are almost unbearable to ponder. Take care MrsPP, RNB
@@MrsPenPal All good. Thanks for asking Blessing. You may want to react to the Beatles, ' Paperback Writer'. Some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. Trust me on this one. Bye, RNB Here is a link to the 1966 mono mix remastered. This is how the Beatles intended it to sound, Mono mixes were the priority in 1966. Stereo mixes though available throughout the 1960's, would not really become the preferred mixes until mid 1968 and 1969. ruclips.net/video/rjZCViOokEY/видео.html
The Beatles were together since 1956 when they were 14, 15, 16 years old. They recorded for 8 years, 62-70. This recording was in January 30, 1969, The Beatles officially broke up in April 1970. After this album, which was Let It Be, they recorded their greatest, and last album Abbey Road. So, they still had a ways to go after this. This was not the end.
The Beatles were a social phenomenon back then. Everybody from three year old kids to 103 year old grandmas knew who they were and their music was everywhere for years after they broke up. Marcia Griffiths released a reggae cover of "Don't Let Me Down" within months of The Beatles that is also quite wonderful, but more sweeter than bittersweet. Check it out when you can.
Nice choice! The Beatles are just one of those "chill" bands that just keep getting better and better. Let's not forget the late, great, Billy Preston performing on the keyboards. We only see him for a few seconds, but we hear him throughout the song! "REVOLUTION" is a performance that is really rockin'. ☮
It's the rooftop of the Apple administration building (the company formed by the Beatles) which also had a recording studio in the basement which had been set up literally at the last moment. A big backstory to all of this. I would recommend you watch Peter Jackson's "Get Back" which has archival footage of the Beatles, and later, Billy Preston, as he was brought in by George (the guy you didn't know in the picture) to record with the group.
I missed seeing your face and hearing your beautiful voice. I don’t know why your videos haven’t popped up here for a while. Can you please play Black Coffee by a band named Humble Pie? 😊 I would love you to hear it
Hi gorgeous, you really need to watch the entire rooftop performance, which was their last public concert, performed on the roof of the Apple studio, where they recorded their albums.
And the keyboard player in the back was Billy Preston. I thought he should have got more camera time during the instrumental break! He wasn't one of the Beatles but he did play on several of their songs and they were very good friends with him.
This was the last time the Beatles ever performed live. It was on the roof top of Abbey Road Studios in London. Also this is the first time they ever performed live with another artist, Bill Preston on electric piano. This broke so many rules of the time, The Beatles performed with a gay black man. Groundbreaking for equal rights.
You are just on the surface with this and 8 Days A Week..cXhek out the sh-it that rocks Rain Paperback Writer Taxman Drive My Car She Said She Said Tomorrow Never Knows"
its john lead, paul george n ringo v beatles n billy preston guest on elec piano. unknown at v time vis is v beatles last public performace.......it sontop of ver recording, business building in london apple.
Their last live show, John Lennon would quit the Beatles 8 months later (Sept 69), leaving Paul, George and Ringo to finish over dubs on the last album alone. Their business dealings, and new management arguments split the group. Not to mention they were getting a little stale performing with only each other.

Listening to this I absolutely cannot understand how anybody can dis Ringo as a drummer....he was THE PERFECT drummer for The Beatles
For sure. There are lot of fools out there. The Beatles were a tight unit, not a group of soloists fighting for attention. Ringo played inside every song and invented drum set riffs that even today everyone mimics.
Think a lot came about because of the way they sacked the original drummer Pete Best who had a lot of fans and his mum stirred it up a lot too
Very amazed new generations discovering and appreciating The Beatles admiring them and knowing their significance as a new sound amidst todays scrap materials..
Undoubtedly the greatest band of all time
They only show him very briefly, but Billy Preston is playing the keyboards on this song
This is ONE of my favorite Beatles' songs. The Let it Be (the new official video), Hey Jude (video with Paul close up), Come Together (animated)....
''Pour their heart into a song.'' Yes.
Yes Yes 👏

A "chill band?" Hell, they kicked the door down and changed everything. I lived it.
❤️ lovely outfit, lovely song for a lovely gal and her PenPals 🤩.
Hi Mrs P. Amazing, powerful song. I think underrated at the time. It rips you open. Lennon has the gravitas.
Some times the best ones are underrated glad it came on our radar ✨
this was the last performance live on the rooftop at abbey road studio
Great to see you on the channel reacting to the Beatles again! Magical!

It's called the funk baby

Thanks dear
So cute!
Hi gorgeous, you really need to watch the entire rooftop performance, which was their last public concert, performed on the roof of the Apple studio, where they recorded their albums.
Top comment about the one-ness in their harmonies. Very true about the main vocalists Lennon and McCartney who wrote most of their songs.
I appreciate your attention and coming on this experience with me
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
rooftop of apple studios

A bit off-topic, but your hair is so cool!
Great song and a lovely reaction!! 😅
I appreciate your attention to this video ✨
George Harrison the lead guitarist,he wrote the track Something, also here comes the sun
It's called the funk young lover
The performance is on the roof of their Apple headquarters in London.
John Lennon wrote and sings the song.

the rooftop of apple studios in london....last time they performed together live....they got arrested after concert that's why the cops were up there
That was on the roof top of their studio in the UK. The police are they because they didn't have a permit to perform.😊
They're up all the roof of their studio. The cops had to come and pull them off
🤭🤭🤭you fell in love with mr lennon🤭🤭
These guys are pretty good eh.
That was George Harrison you were wondering about. 😊
Thanks Pa😇
John Lennon is lead singer, Paul McCartney is in black, George Harrison in the green slacks and Ringo Starr on drums.
And the keyboard player in the back was Billy Preston. I thought he should have got more camera time during the instrumental break!
He wasn't one of the Beatles but he did play on several of their songs and they were very good friends with him.

Absolutely love your hair girl! Great vocals but then Lennon and McCartney go together like chips and dip.

Hi Ritchten what a combo
🙂
yepp, you are listening to a pretty cohesive little band. btw: live
Their last live show, John Lennon would quit the Beatles 8 months later (Sept 69), leaving Paul, George and Ringo to finish over dubs on the last album alone. Their business dealings, and new management arguments split the group. Not to mention they were getting a little stale performing with only each other.
Paul McCartney split the Beatles on the 10th of April 1970...
John and George brought Phil Spector in to do the final overdubs...and Ringo played too. It was Paul who was absent at the very end.
The one you don’t recognise is George Harrison
