2023 highlander is totally different. 1, V6 engine is gone, now it is all 2.4L turbo-charged I4; 2, no need to remove the entire soft under cover anymore, the under cover now as a 12"x12" opening just for the access to the oil drain plug and filter. You only need to remove 4 screws to remove the cover of that small opening; 3, no more cartrige filter, 2023 models all use spin-on oil filters. Overall, I think job is a little easier on 2023 models.
Wow thank god for the new twist on canister to make my life easier. I'll be using a fumoto valve too. Thanks for that update buddy!
Thank you
Thank you so much it was good help ..got mine oil changed after watching yours ….
Great video, it is just at he right pace for me. I only had to watch it once! Thank you!!
Great job! Excellent choice of Oil for your Steed! Nice tip on Pre-filling the filter before installation. When I was a teen many years ago (😅), I was taught by an Ol’ School mechanic that told me not only does the oil in the filter increase oil pressure quicker, but the oil “wicks” up onto the dry filter , moisturizing it and preventing any possible tears upon initial start up!
That’s a lie and this myth has been debunked multiple times. This ain’t the 80’s anymore. No need to prefill. Never prefilled filled and have 3 Toyo with 320k, 410k, almost 600k no prefilling and cherry on the top 10k oil interval changes
The Drain Plug Torque is 30 ft pounds. The Filter Housing 18 ft pounds and 9 ft pounds for the Housing Drain Cap.
Thank you for the torque values!
Excellent video 👏👏👏👏
Great guide
Great video!
Great video
Great video, thanks! Where do you get your resources for newer highlander repairs? I don’t see a Haynes book available for 2020 or after.
Excelent video. In Mexico the dealers are using mineral oil instead the syntethic oil that I saw you used. What should be the correct? Thank you.
What is the element that the plastic drain tool punters and is the new filter going to need the tool? I didn’t see how the housing would need the drain tool
What’s the difference between the mobil 1 advanced fuel economy suitable for hybrid vehicles? Is it the same as the one you are using?
Question? You can not take out just filter ? Or you have to put that plastic for flashing the oil ?
Does the panel you first take off serve any purpose at all? Its an extra pain to remove to change oil. Can you just leave it off after the first oil change and drive without it?
What is the part number for the metal oil filter housing cap?
I’m not sure on that I would call you local dealership or see if you can find a parts schematic online.
Thanks for the video. I noted that Toyota recommends 0W-16. 0W-20 is considered OK if replaced with 0W-16 at the next oil change.
Straight from the Toyota Manual:
Recommended viscosity: SAE 0W-20
SAE 0W-20 is the best choice
for good fuel economy and good
starting in cold weather.
If SAE 0W-20 is not available,
SAE 5W-20 oil may be used.
However, it must be replaced
with SAE 0W-20 at the next oil
change
Why didn't you mention installing a new crush washer when you put the drain plug back in?
Where did you get the plastic piece to drive the oil out of the filter?
It should come with the factory filter if you get it from the dealership. Mine was in box with filter.
Thank you
@@loganbirchfieldyes. it is.
What purpose does the stupid "cover" under the oil pan serve?
Well I would say protection but it’s made of carpet so probably more for sound deadening would be my guess.
Honestly probably for EPA regulations so oil doesn’t leak on ground. Hippies
Leave it to Toyota
