I found my Vita in my closet earlier this month and was surprised it still worked. I took it (and my Switch)with me on a work trip. One TSA agent lost her mind about it and kept asking me about what I was playing on it.

Makes me so happy seeing the Vita getting love. I’ve had mine since launch and always loved it, criminally underrated. I finally got around to modding it this year and now I truly believe it is the best handheld you can buy in 2023.

It was not underrated!!! The reason it failed had to do with storage costing too much... Places near me that sold one when it first came out was always sold out... It was so popular but when the game's would not fit on the smallest card and they needed a bigger size card the price was not great to justify so then later people stop buying then suddenly stopped producing.. but the play it now no not worth it because a lot of games already been ported

Sony loses on sales on portable to nintendo regardless of how powerful it is and ability to emulate some of their games as Sony is terrible on marketing their portable like the psp. But psp did better than ps vita as it had more library and had movies to buy as well.

Many psp games could be purchased digitally making them look and run better with 2 joysticks, yeah I love my psp but if I can play those games on the vita I will.

@@andrewvasquez1960 I was waiting for someone to say that ps vita can do and play psp games but it doesn't matter as the battery of vita don't last as it's using up a lot because it's touch screen plus the sensors at the back so it kinda defeats the purpose of being portable. Plus psp is smaller and you can carry multiple batteries.

@@andrewvasquez1960 that's the biggest flaw of the ps vita is it's not a true portable. 3ds last longer than ps vita and even the psp last longer than ps vita by having multiple batteries or just replacing the cover and battery of the psp 2000 and 3000 with the battery of 1000 or just buy an extended battery accessory. Even the new playstation portable is criticized with its battery life. Sony has the same goal as the Microsoft for building a powerful console however, that performance needs a lot of power so it drains the battery faster and heats up the console too.

Probably best console to have on mobile MGS collection, Uncharted, Call of Duty, Child of Light, etc. If you mod it then you can do pretty much anything with it. It’s a good console no matter if you use it legitimately or use firmware

Honestly, Sony made the best handheld consoles ever, with the Vita taking top spot. If only Sony gave it the attention that it deserved. With any luck, Sony will re-enter the handheld market with a new console and make many games for it. Plus, would it be great to revive some of their older franchises on a next generation Vita console?

Probably the biggest honorable mention would be Mortal Kombat on vita. It’s nearly Identical in terms of gameplay and features. I’m so impressed the vita can make it feel like I’m playing a AAA game like MK9 and run smooth and stable. Highly recommend

So many of the Vita's AAA games absolutely hold up today, and, most of them are still entirely exclusive to the Vita. It's actually weird that none of them have been ported to anything else, but I guess the touch and motion gimmicks make that difficult. I still love my Vita and play it periodically. I need to expand my collection though, and pick up some of the games I've missed out on.

Wipeout 2048 is on the PS4's Wipeout Omega Collection and its playable on the PS5. I still have my PS Vita and Wipeout 2048 but its better on the Wipeout Omega Collection. I still use my Vita to play my Metal Gear Solid games on the go until the Master Collection comes to the Switch.

Freedom Wars is one the best games I’ve played on a PlayStation. The gameplay and the atmosphere were just amazing. Honorable mentiam to Soul Sacrifice, that was a pretty decent game

you can play wipeout 2048 on ps5. technically there is no ps5 port, but you can play the wipeout omega collection on there, which includes 2048.

You think it's easy to port a Vita game on PS4 or PS5, especially one that requires touch controls?
In this case, the ONLY way they could port Golden Abyss is to retool it from scratch in order to take advantage of the DualShock 4's or the DualSense's features for those sequences that required the touchscreen and/or the rear touchpad to progress

After having Vita for a while now, although it's a beast piece of hardware but it's not memorable at all. I don't know if it was my first handheld it might be different story, but as an avid gamer, no exclusive game is great and unique enough to own Vita. Uncharted and Killzone might be good, but easily forgettable in comparison with their other brothers.

The Playstation Vita(PS Vita) is non a bad system it's a lovely system but Sony supported the Ps Vita very little so the PS Vita sold a low amount of units.

You missed Natural Doctrine, although it is on PS4 as well. It got so criticized for its "difficulty" out of nowhere really, I cleared the game in Normal and Hard, it was a great experience both in gameplay and story.

I disagree. I played them really late. They suck ass. Maybe a Remake or just a Remaster might save them. Not enough content is my first issue with that Uncharted game. Boring, drawn-out, snooze-fest. The fact that Severed found more life on the 3DS, mobile and the Switch (as well as on the Wii U huh) AFTER its initial PSVita launch speaks volumes on how much games like this are better played on handheld devices instead of retooling them on home consoles and NOT being as fun as their original versions (cough TEARAWAY UNFOLDED cough).
If developers want to port their Vita games, especially those that use touch screen controls, they should forget that idea as those games were made with touch controls in mind that most home consoles lack the gimmick for them, forcing them to be retooled for those lacking features and TRYING to replicate the same feel as the original versions with mixed to negative results.
If Drinkbox ever decide to port Severed on home consoles, how the fuck would THAT work?
Tearaway's PS4 port was fine, but the DualShock 4's touchpad is no legit substitute for the Vita's 2 touch surfaces the game was made around for.
The original Gravity Rush, a brilliant yet underrated gem on the Vita, got the PS4 remaster treatment and yet it didn't play as well as on the original Vita.
Severed would suffer such a fate if it ever comes to home consoles/PC as it won't work as well as on those handheld devices.
