Nice build. BNC binding posts are awesome for antennas and experimenting. To take the weight load off the BNC on the 705, you might be able to use some zip ties going through the holes on the BNC binding post to attach it to a dowel or something else and then use a short run of coax to the 705.Just a thought.
Great build, Simon! I was just looking for 2m antenna to build to put in my window in a HOA. This looks like it might be the one! Oh no, I only have plastic coat hangers. Off to rummage for supplies... Thanks for another great video!
Years ago I made a Moxon for 10m out of wire wrapped round spreaders made from long garden canes. One of the old timers told me to use shirt buttons as insulators, so I did and there was a massive flashover and they melted. In his days I think shirt buttons were made from real mother of pearl not plastic!
Hi Simon, Another great idea. Thanks, very interesting. I use a Moonraker whizz loop for FT8 on forty meters. But I do have rf issues, were interference is getting into my phone, which I use for decoding and transmitting the digital mode. All the best David M0DUU
G'day buddy! Wooohooo thanks as always for swinging by mate. Thanks for the comment about the dowel.... I updated the title and description to say "no coax" doh! I forgot to add it hahaha. Cheers and beers buddy.
Wooohooo thanks Frank. That's also in the plan buddy to do some 2 Meters SSB and also Digital. It's been a fun little project. Thanks for swinging by and leaving a comment mate. Cheers!
@@thehamjazz You can try some towards Vancouver west side too. I'm on the top floor of my building with approximately line-of-sight to Victoria and 2m ssb and a yagi to boot ;-)
Hey Richard, the wire I am using is fencing wire - so I am thinking about an 8 gauge. So as for dimensions.... It would be an 1/8 or smaller of an inch. It is the common fencing wire you buy from Home Depot. Hope this helps mate. Happy building! Cheers

Very cool. Saving this for future reference when I start experimenting with antenna projects.
Love the 2-meter Moxon Simon! Nice one! I'll have to give that one a go some time! Simple and looks like a real nice performer. 👍📻⚡Cheers! Tom
Mr MuD approved. Nice work!
G'day Simon. Great build I've looked into building one of these ages ago never did it though. Nice work 🤙🏽 happy new year 73
Tnx for making my Day Simon, yo uare awsome.

You could have told them you were on low power too. Nice job!
Thanks so much mate - it was a totally fun antenna to build and only took minutes. Happy building my friend. Cheers 👍
Hey, Simon. Love your crazy antenna builds. Just wondering, can you build one out of a rain umbrella? If anyone can do it, you can.

@@thehamjazz rm noise app looks awesome ai noise canceller
@@thehamjazz. Plus this. Station master also fantastic but I think this may cost money. Rm noise is free for now. Laters Simon. Check them out mate
@@thehamjazz if you put that wee thing on a dowl with centrebpole raised 10feet and coax you would have a blast wooowoooo
Try flipping it on its side. 2m ssb is fun too.

What is the US AWG of your wire? I get different cal for the long elements of 275/8 Why?

Great but I'm going to spend the extra fiver for the coax.
Haha great idea mate - I’ll do the same but it was sure a fun project to see if it would work! Thanks for swinging by buddy! Cheers
Neat. How many watts were you transmitting sir?
Hey mate, I was running 5 watts. Cheers mate and happy building
Put it on a fowl and aim it
i think if you place the antenna up on a mast you gonna have better results..73
Great project Simon. We're back in /7 land and will be looking for your call. KA1XK/7
