I get that lol, you can be exhausted and still use the last shreds of energy left to do something you love because, well, you love it and it (usually), brings you more joy than pain.
Kira says “Let me know if you’d wanna see that” as if we don’t all want to see all the content she wants to make like gal if you want to do it we will be here to hype you up
Kira. Please, please, PLEASE make this a series. What does a humble leaf live for if not vaguely historical, occasionally nerdy fantasy nonsense, whether it be clothing, or characters, or what have you? It inspires me to make my own nonsense, which is just perfect.
For your leafy poncho doohickey, you might investigate the possibility of buying wool sweaters at the thrift store and then felting them in your washer/dryer. It makes a great way to create more sculptural clothing pieces, because once you get the wool well felted it won’t fray so you can cut yourself some complicated edges.
@@athena1491 wool clumps and felts with heat detergent and agitation. They will shrink and become more solid, they shouldn’t clump unless you roll them up in a tight ball before hand.
Quick costuming tip! Narrow whaled corduroy is a pretty good velvet dupe especially if you don’t look to closely, and it much more affordable ( and findable in thrift stores) than real velvet ~ a theatre kid
For the pumpkin dress you could try a bubble skirt for even more of a pumpkin vibe. Ps with the seventeen designs you basically just designed an entire collection. Now you have six weeks to create them all according to project runway rules…😉j/k…❤
hearing about your German heritage was really cool! This is very niche, but I'd love to see more Dirndl-adjacent designs. I'm German myself, and have always wanted more gender non-conforming designs based off traditional German clothes. Dirndl but overall and pants version? masc clothing with pretty embroidery, laces and an apron? I NEED IT
I am part Austrian and part French and hearing about this also really made me happy. I really like our traditional clothes but they tend to get seen as kitsch which is very unfortunate.
For the applique on the knit vest, you could use felt! You could embroider the details on the small pieces(leaf and mushroom details!) and then blanket stitch them onto the vest! All of these designs are so cool!!
I would LOVE to see you make that candle dress into a fabric pattern on a place like Spoonflower or such where you can print your own fabric. That kind of design would make such neat outfits!
Crochet dweeb, here! If you wanted to make a crocheted vest, it's actually pretty simple! One of the first things most people learn to make is a "granny square", and when you're practicing said granny squares, you tend to end up with a bunch of them. Then you basically just sew them together in a vest-shape (pull-over is easiest!) and you can add premade ribbed edging or make your own (also very very simple!) Heck, I'm planning to work on one myself this year!
Every fall I scream because I can finally unleash my full Dark Academia aesthetic heart. I still find a way for dark academia in every season, I have so many cropped short sleeve cardigans for summer-
For the Moss cloak ,you might want to make the cloak out of felt by the yard or wool like Rachel did in her video, then do needle felting on top of that . I hope that helped a little.
Fantasy nonsense clothes is literally my favourite aesthetic but because theres no real term for it its hard to find anything :( Im so thankful for these videos !!
HEY HEY! Blanket statement cause a lot of ppl have asked! You're welcome to make these designs in your own sewing/crafting adventures or draw your ocs in them! Go wild ✨ I'd just really appreciate it if you credit the design back to me if you post the online and SEND ME PICTURES bc I'd really love to see the final results 🥺💕 🍄You can find prints from the merch design section of this video in my store! pricklyalpacaart.storenvy.com/ 🍓 Anything that hasn't already been added to the store will be added in the next couple of days! The specific products I got printed from Vograce will only be available for purchase when I table at conventions in person, or through my Patreon (which I'm hoping to launch in October). However, if enough people show interest in any of those products, I might do some bulk orders! Let me know if that's something y'all would be interested in!
For the rain coat you could try making your design on normal fabric then add a clear raincoat material as a second layer to prevent the inner layer from getting dirty and it would make it easier to clean plus the clear layer could be used to add 3-D detailing =D
Recommendation: Iron on transfers might be a good way to do the images on the clothing like the eyes. You'd need a printer and the paper can be kind of expensive (especially if you get the really good kind), but they do pretty well on stretch material since it doesn't really change the fibers like fabric paint does. Most people just use pre-made images from the internet, but since you already create your own art, it could be a less time consuming way to get it on the clothes.
For the raincoat idea, I was hit with remembering there was clear raincoats. You could create a design on a bottom layer with all the colors and then somehow use Velcro to stick the design under the see through coat and bam. A design that won't be destroyed and if it does, you can remake the design underneath. You can make multiple designs for different seasons. Now I want to draw that idea out ....
for the wool eye dress... hehe, wool-eye, woolly, my brain went to... -pin the dress firmly to the form in the way it shapes to your body, and that its taut -mark where you want the eyes, add seam allowance for when you fold it on itself for a finished edge, or maybe do an edge banding instead that looks like eyelashes? -sew along the marks to keep the yarn from unravelling when you cut the eye shapes out -cut the eye shapes out, -and finally, sew a layer of fabric onto the inside, and either paint the eyes onto it, or use fabric with a print, or multiple layers of fabric, or whatever floats your boat Also, if i had all these outfits, i would never need another outfit ever again, theyre all so great!!! nighthawkinlight has a good video on waterproofing fabrics, so, maybe that for the raincoat, but it also looks like it would be a good fluffy winters coat, like, lions mane fungus is all fuzzy life fur so, it could work
hi, if you're going to make the sweaters yourself, I'd recommend crocheting over knitting, crocheting seems more peaceful for beginners (or at least it was for me), because with knitting, the stitches can slip out and that's a problem, and it's also harder to learning to . On the other hand, with crochet, the stitches can't fall out completely, and it's not that hard to learn, and it's even faster after a little practice. I recommend you try it on a scarf or something like that first. I wish you a nice rest of the day.
monster shirt, leaf poncho and pumpkin sweater would end up in my everyday wardrobe if they existed and I had access to them. also all of the dresses and the overalls. even though I'm a guy. they're just THAT good.
You could make eyeball dress using two different colour dresses, cut the first one and sew it on to the other one. Playing with different textures could be also really fun. P.S sorry for my englis and i absolutely adore all of the designs you drew 💖💖💖
dude these are so sick i really love the spider one. for the big spiders you could probably cut a spider oit of some fabric that wont fray easy or that you could seal the edges of and hand sew it to the mesh sleeve, and if its velvet that would hide the stitched on there pretty well. also just an idea for the more gradient-y designs, I've been making this flower petal dress and I've found painting on dye with a brush onto a waterproof tray works pretty well especially if you add water onto parts of the fabric that need to be well blended. for some of the dark ones like the candle dress, you could find an off-white or even orange fabric and dye the rest that dark blue-purple so you don't have to worry about bleach 🐸
The monster mimic bodice idea is incredible and might make it as my Halloween costume!!! Absolutely inspired! I'm part of a larp group and we have something called monster clash where we pick spells and stuff foe out monsters ! We do it every Halloween it's incredible about 40 people being spooky and it's great! Your incredible all the love✨️
OH MY GOODNESS THEY'RE AMAZING!!! I would love to see you make a series out of this kind of video. My favorite designs from today were the embroidered sweater-vest, the monster shirt (especially with a silky kind of fabric for the tongue to make it look kinda wet), the overalls, the pumpkin turtleneck sweater, and the candle, eye, and pumpkin dresses.
Idea: since it's fall season maybe you could make outfits based off of fall foods or even make witch characters like a pumpkin pie witch! You already kinda hit the fall outfit idea but this is just an add on and a little more fall food based. Just an idea ❤
Okay, absolutely obsessed with the spider shirt, the monster shirt, the pumpkin dress and the boo dress! For the raincoat- there are paints out there specifically for vinyl that should do the trick! A lot of them are for car interiors and meant to see wear and be flexible, so you could still spray your garment without it becoming "now that's a pizza"
I'm begging for more of this type of content, it's that good mix between costume and clothing design and digital art and makes my character design brain so very happy. The style of video is enjoyable too, somewhere between relaxing and exciting with all the editing and content
I have an idea for a spooky project. You should make a giant poster if you monster kids comic OCs but make it look like a cover for a horror movie ! Also, the candle dress is so beautiful I want it
Literally what could be better than a Morticia Addams and Lust FMA love child obsessed with Tim Burton films?? That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever heard of
for the spiderweb one, i feel like embroidery on tulle would make the details work. also, id literally be obsessed with ANY of these pieces made into reality
An idea for the mushroom raincoat is you can paint some thicker type cotton and then you could make oil cloth with it. Oil cloth is the original rain coat material, you basically just paint linseed oil on cloth and let it dry so it becomes waterproof. It would probably take a while and I’d suggest further research because linseed oil can be dangerous but I think if you lay it out flat it shouldn’t be in danger of combusting.
The spider bodice is absolutely my favorite. I think you could maybe embroider the spiderwebs onto a mesh fabric or a grey fabric depending on how sexy you want it to be/what you are comfortable with it being? And then make the spiders out of the same black fabric of the body?
The eyeball waistcoat one speaks to me. I've been saving loads of eyeball adorned clothes and accessories to my clothes board and I one day hope to become nothing but eyes. (plus: WAISTCOATS!!!)
My top 5 are: 5. Mushroom dress and parasol 4. Moss cape 3. Frog overalls 2. Monster shirt 1. Eyeball sweater dress because boy, that thing is a LOOK, and also wearable casually. I think for the moss cape, there’s ALOT of little mushrooms to needle felt all of them (this is coming from someone who tried to sell needle felted stuff on Etsy years ago before it was trendy. It’s simple to do but very tedious. The amount of time going into it is like embroidery x2) My suggestion: use different green yarns and brush out the strands for like a curly hair looking moss. Needle felt the smaller mushrooms. But for the bigger mushrooms, just wrap and glue some felt fabric around some foam, like pillow or mattress topper foam.
I am absolutely head over heels for your fantasy nonsense clothes content~!! And that monster shirt looks absolutely stunning, it'd be amazing to see how you'd make that happen.
These REALLY make me want to get a head start on Warlocktober 2023, where I design different Witches/Wizards/Warlocks inspired by famous monsters from different Mythologies, Folklore, Pop Culture, & Urban Legends. Like, THE SIXTH & EIGHTH ONES I COULD TOTALLY SEE MY SPIDER & LOVECRAFTIAN-INSPIRED WITCHES/WIZARDS/WARLOCKS WEARING.
As far as the rain coat goes I have a few suggestions. There is the clear vinyl over the top of regular fabric as a first option. You could get canvas material, dye it, and then water proof it after that. the channel Skill Tree just did a video with a new technique for water proofing that looks really simple and he said it didn't make the fabric stiff. On the same route of water proofing cotton fabric there is a way to do that with wax as well. You could maybe find the wax in the colors you want for the mushroom and sort make the ombre with the wax which will also be the waterproofing. Just a few ideas. Hope it helps.
For the making projects I'm going to suggest dip dying for the ombre effects, applique as an option instead or in addition to embroidery. Spider shirt would especially be a place for applique, velvet on a sheer fabric would be pretty. Spider webs might be tricky maybe somewhere out there there's a spiderweb lace? Also I want that leaf poncho.
Yeah, you go Kira! Love all these designs and I think you've got plenty of good ideas on how to tackle them. Thrifting will probably get you a lot of your base clothes and then just plaster them with iron-ons. Some iron-ons can look like embroidery. The overalls will take paint (mixed with textile medium so it doesn't peel off all your work!) very well. Good luck with your clothing adventures!
I am in love with that spider blouse! You could totally get some silk/rayon blend velvet and make the spider pattern in it using burnout technique. That'd be amazing... I might have just added another sewing project onto my far-too-long-to-count list.
Also for the moss cloak, there is a yarn that looks a lot like moss and it could mainly be rectangles that you sew together. So you could crochet the moss cloak and then needle felt the decorations on, crochet and needle felting actually work pretty well together
Favorite outfits for me were the victorian spellcaster bodice, spider blouse, the LEAF PONCHO OUTFIT (this screams little druid bard to me and I love her), and all of the outfits from the candle dress onward. I actually really like the eyeball dress?? I think you definitely could thrift flip a knit dress, and I think it'd be cool if all the eyes were made from a variety of fabrics. Like you could use up fabric stash scraps and/or thrift a bunch of clothes. I think it'd be a fun One Day Make challenge. The dirndl is GORGEOUS, I HAVE to see that made into reality. Also, you could totally make a whole collection of spooky selkie dresses. You could easily make a ghost one and a spiderweb one. Also, I have at least one friend who I could see would legitimately wear the monster dress. I think if I were to make one of these, it would be the leaf poncho with cute autumn embroidered pants hands down.
the spider shirt....oh lord im in love! and it would look so good with maroon high waisted pants or a skirt. kira how dare you create something so formulated to my exact tastes that I cannot possess
Hi hi! For the acrylic paint problem I HIGHLY recommend Angelus leather paints. Same consistency to acrylic during application, but dries very flexible so it won’t crack or feel stiff, it’s more rubbery than plastic when dried essentially. Also really pigmented so a lot goes a long way and not expensive. It’s my wife, changed my life. (Highly recommend using the sealer after. Also you can mix the colors with their softening medium if you need to, but honestly it’s flexible enough that I’ve never had to…but it’s an option.)
For the mushroom coat there is also the option of waxed cotton or wool! It would make the fabric stiffer, but it might give you more customising options,
My favorite items are the pumpkin sweater vest, eyeball/teeth monster shirt (OMG!!!), high waisted pumpkin embroidered pants, frog overalls (never too old to wear fun clothes!), pumpkin dirndl, moss cloak, pumpkin dress. :) I'm excited to see anything you create from this collection. I might have to get a vest or pants to embroider on. it takes a while, but the payoff is worth it. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us
So for candle dress (or anything else you wanna do using this texture I suppose) I used to make a lot of my own drippy trim for festival wear as blood or slime, w/e. I would kind of sculpt it with hot glue onto a separate fabric and leave gaps for tacking. Then I'd tack it onto the bodice/skirt/whatever and just fill in the gaps with more hot glue. Then I kinda had to very carefully paint over it, and honestly? Nail polish came in clutch for this. Lots of different finishes/textures and it adheres to the hot glue really well, is easy to control with a small brush and wipe off any accidents with acetone, and you can literally just use top coat to give it an extra shine. It is time consuming, but it worked really well for the extremely fitted things I was making.
I absolutely love these designs! Can't wait to see you make them! And I have to ask, would you mind if anyone where to try to sew the designs you made? of course credit for the design would go to you!
I love the tooth one!! I'd use lace or tulle for the peekaboo parts and sew the eyes onto that either embroidery or Appliqué depending on deadlines the teeth would work real easy as foam, beads, or polymer clay with holes to sew them on like buttons
for the mushroom raincoat: you could do a first layer with the colours and patters you want with a natural fabric, and make a clear 2nd layer over the first? that’s what immediately came to mind, but it might take some work. I love your content! thank you for feeding us with your super cool fantasy nonsense clothes! have a good night/day!
These all look amazing! For natural fabrics for your rain coat, I'd suggest looking into wool (which is naturally water resistant, though water can soak through if in the rain long enough), or waxing fabric. Waxing fabric is really nice because you can first do whatever dyes/patterning/etc. and then apply the wax after thus creating a "custom" waterproof fabric. Waxed fabric is really water resistant (water proof if you do it really really well), but the fabric can also be stiff once waxed. Might be nice for the rain coat flare though! SkillTree has some good videos on how to wax fabric (plus they are just great fantasy makers). Can't wait to see how everything turns out!
I'm honestly surprised your mix of creativity, art, and enthusiasm for fashion hasn't infiltrated and possessed my soul yet. Like themed prompts + cute outfits is something hiding at the back of my mind like the sleep paralysis demon in the corner and this is enabling me to my core 😭 Regardless of which one of these you first bring to life i know it'll be so cool and exciting 🥰
I WOULD PAY SO MUCH MONEY FOR THE CANDEL DRESS AND THE EYE DRESS OMG THE MOSS COAT. THE MOSS CLOAK. OMG I NEED IT. AND THE MUSHROOM SWEATER THING. I LOVE THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE DESIGNS
So different and unique clothes; I don't know what I would to see more. As for things you can use outside of acrylic : fabric markers and paint, embroidery, applique, needle felting, bias binding, and various laces and trims.
This gave me such a good dose of fall serotonin! In April, but what is spring without at least one day of feeling like a pumpkin witch in need of fall/Halloween content
This is me continuing to beg for Fantasy Clothing Design Series
YESS
YES!
I fourth this!!
I join the begging 😂
YES 👏YES👏 YESS👏

the monster top is beautiful looks like a comic book villain with a wacky fasion sense AND I LOVE It
YES it’s giving Everything everywhere all at once vibes

This makes me want to keep trying to design my pumpkin corset with a pumpkin leaf dress under it.
These all look so cool!!!!
for the wool eye dress... hehe, wool-eye, woolly, my brain went to...
-pin the dress firmly to the form in the way it shapes to your body, and that its taut
-mark where you want the eyes, add seam allowance for when you fold it on itself for a finished edge, or maybe do an edge banding instead that looks like eyelashes?

-cut the eye shapes out,

Also, if i had all these outfits, i would never need another outfit ever again, theyre all so great!!!
nighthawkinlight has a good video on waterproofing fabrics, so, maybe that for the raincoat, but it also looks like it would be a good fluffy winters coat, like, lions mane fungus is all fuzzy life fur so, it could work

These are all super adorable! Makes me want to design clothes I will never wear cause my sewing skills are the hottest of garbage.
The candle dress is so beautiful I could stare at it for hours
i actually really wanna make that leaf-cape-embroidered-pants combo. that's cute af
SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR THE LEAVE REGAL JESTER COUNCEL ( gave The Borrowers 10 years later vibes) AND THE CANDLE DRESSS AHHHHHHH

You could try screen printing, or sublimation instead of paint. It would be hard, but it would end up looking better and be less crunchy
I'd love to see the monster dress actually made into a dress!
I have an idea for a spooky project.
You should make a giant poster if you monster kids comic OCs but make it look like a cover for a horror movie !
Also, the candle dress is so beautiful I want it
The cropped leaf cloak with the black pants sets off a pleasing reaction in my brain
That eyeball dress(13:12) is kinda giving Scarah Scream and I love that.
I just noticed Hex Girl playing in the background and I love it!
12:37 YES 100% SO ONBOARD WITH THAT VIBE
Oh my gosh your hair looks so good right now ahh
Literally what could be better than a Morticia Addams and Lust FMA love child obsessed with Tim Burton films?? That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever heard of
The third design is so spooky cute
for the spiderweb one, i feel like embroidery on tulle would make the details work. also, id literally be obsessed with ANY of these pieces made into reality
I would definitely wear that monster outfit , IT LOOKS SO COOL OM I adore it !!!
ngl i literally luv this channel sm cuz its not too inappropriate like some art youtubers she doesnt swear and shes got a great artstyle and voiceover
The moss cloak looks so amazing and fluffy, I might need to take on a new felting project soon
the pumpkin dress def deserves to be made! 🎃🎃 and also the poofy candle dress, its great!😀

for the rain jacket you could make it out of clear plastic and then make the design on the lining instead☔️
The spider bodice is absolutely my favorite. I think you could maybe embroider the spiderwebs onto a mesh fabric or a grey fabric depending on how sexy you want it to be/what you are comfortable with it being? And then make the spiders out of the same black fabric of the body?
The spider top looks so cool, but the only way I can imagine it working is using silks to get the right flow and transparency and that is EXPENSIVE.
I so want to make that eye vest and put my own twist on it.
actually for the raincoat v.birtchwood has a video on a natural fiber that is water proof soooo yeah there's that
Oo good to know 👀
U SHOULD HAVE YOUR OWN FASHION SHOE I SWEAR I LOVE YOUR DEGINS SOOO MUCH I am in tears of how aesthetic this video is
The eyeball waistcoat one speaks to me. I've been saving loads of eyeball adorned clothes and accessories to my clothes board and I one day hope to become nothing but eyes. (plus: WAISTCOATS!!!)
These designs give me Magnus Archive vibes. Love it!
The monster shirt definitely gives me Kill La Kill Senketsu/D&D Mimic energy and I love it
I am absolutely head over heels for your fantasy nonsense clothes content~!!
I am SO HERE for the monster top!
They are all so pretty but I'm dying to see the candle dress with the led lights !!
Having too many ideas and not enough time/energy is definitelly something I can relate to
For the mushroom coat there is also the option of waxed cotton or wool! It would make the fabric stiffer, but it might give you more customising options,
PLEASE make the monster shirt it's really pretty and i would love to live vicariously through you queen 🥺
Thanks for sharing your ideas with us
I think for the monster blouse with teeth, using tiny beads and doing some embroidery combo could give a nice effect
So for candle dress (or anything else you wanna do using this texture I suppose)
I used to make a lot of my own drippy trim for festival wear as blood or slime, w/e.
For the eyeball dress it would be super cool to do like a dual layer and have slits in the outer layer to reveal the eyeball underneath!
I love the multiple FMA references hahaha. Also that pumpkin dress is just gorgeous 👌
i think “magpie-brain-core” is a perfect name for my aesthetic 😩✨
I'm honestly surprised your mix of creativity, art, and enthusiasm for fashion hasn't infiltrated and possessed my soul yet. Like themed prompts + cute outfits is something hiding at the back of my mind like the sleep paralysis demon in the corner and this is enabling me to my core 😭 Regardless of which one of these you first bring to life i know it'll be so cool and exciting 🥰
I WOULD PAY SO MUCH MONEY FOR THE CANDEL DRESS AND THE EYE DRESS
OMG THE MOSS COAT.
