What I respect most with your videos is that you always show the mistakes you make. By giving us this realistic insight on a highly skilled craftsman's approach ,you really encourage begginers. Thank you for another great video Matthias!
I love how you show mistakes and the remedies. We all have little oops-es from time to time. It just shows there's some faith left in humanity with common sense. Keep up the great work!
I really like your tool making videos. Seeing your pattern laying, thought process and the way you build up your material to work with is great. I'm glad you've got a good handle on making these videos, they come out great and just really professional quality. Keep up the great work!
I am just waiting for the Wandel tool Company to open. The machines you create are wonderful, Thank you for a great channel. I can hardly wait each week for a new video.
Kevin Carpenter there used to be a company that sold plans to make machines like this from wood. Wish I could remember the name. Think it started with a G.
Thank you for not only making such a great design, but for showing repeatedly how you conquer the small issues that arise out of making something new. A favorite expression of mine is " You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette." I have to remind myself of that often when I have halted progress to save something that I need to just cut up. Your videos help keep me motivated each time I watch one. So don't feel like that puts pressure on like some people do, just take it in stride as the compliment it is meant to be and keep doing what you do so well. Your inventions and innovations are brilliant and I love to see them take shape as you show us here, bit by bit.
Hands down one of the most skilled sets of tasks I've seen performed considering how much that need to fit right and so on. Congrats on the saw taking shape! This is really inspiring!
Дорогой Маттиас, ты просто молодец! Я повторил твою пилу у себя в мастерской. Всё прекрасно работает уже 3 года. Удачи тебе в будущих проектах. Привет из Сибири (Россия).
I am no carpenter or designer - but as far as "educational/interesting" RUclips channels go....you're up there my man! Thanks for putting all these together, great stuff.
Matthias I love your videos due to their technical nature and I'd absolutely LOVE if you did a Patreon page with some exclusive videos and talked a bit more about the thinking behind some of these machines as well as how you do the technical drawings you use as templates for the builds. Cheers from Denmark!
Matthias B. I don't want drawings actually. I'm more interested in the thought-process behind his designs. Think of my request as a way to get a "behind the scenes" look if that makes sense ;-)
I dreamt I met Matthias once. He was really wise and showed me all of the heritage in the area. Also I stayed in one of his wooden cabins in the dream. Damn
I like that you even show your mistakes. I feel less stupid about my own goofs when I see others, and even the great Matthias, are also fallible. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Matthias, you continue to amaze me with your talent and expertise. I enjoy watching you make things very much and yet to make your pantarouter. regards Mike
I love the band saw build vids, cant wait to see finished article. For the trunnions you would never look back if you built a good trammel jig for the router. Takes all the inconsistency, guess work and sanding time and away.
thank you for all the great information! I am new to wood working and am interested in making my on tools and every time I watch one of your videos I learn many things .thanks again ,please keep making vids , it is inspirational.
Matthias, congratulations to the design and the excution of this band saw, I can not wait to move to a house with space to start some machine projects that I will copy from you, the only thing that is harder is not to understand English, because You must give dicar essential for better implementation of the project, a friend hug.
Applying the 80/20 Paretto rule would make this much more affordable: create a set of metal parts that would make the core of the machine and would greatly simplify the construction, make that a kit and ship it with the plans for a reasonable price. Thus Wandel Wooden Tools Inc. is born! Great content thank you Matthias!
I'm so glad I've been holding off on building a Wandelsaw because this one is the one I'm going to build. If you are able to turn this one into a mill as well, it will be perfect.
Farmer Ash - without a doubt, but it's not my first day in a wood shop. If I step out of my comfort zone with a project, I just slow down and take my time.
shows how useful a bandsaw is - the best tool to make a bandsaw is another bandsaw found that out 45 years ago when I made a Gilliom un anadorned power tools
Matthias is so good. Only thing is it makes me feel glum that I will never be as good. Still, this is offset by the fun of watching an engineer/ craftsman at work. If he a Jeremy fielding got together they could build anything! Out of a windscreen wiper motor and a broken treadmill.
Zapper playstation controllers are much more complicated then bandsaws, and they explode when you try to pull them appart springs and buttons everywhere :)
Have you ever gotten hurt doing stuff like this? I've watched nearly every video and you're just so good, even when you do things that I'd expect would end terribly (like grabbing small bits of wood near the bandsaw blade while it's on) you're completely fine. I assumed someone that's worked with wood basically their whole lives would have SOME battle scars.
When you built your 1st wooden bandsaw.. I showed it to my dad... He advised against building one because it might fall apart and fail.... After watching this 3rd one built... I dont agree with his thought any more... But I dont think I am as precise as Matthias.... So my metal one was't a complete waste of money... Excellent job bud... People only get responses from you when they leave ignorant comments... So here goes nothing.. THIS SAW BLOWS........ the doors off a metal one.. (I tried) Brian
Personally I would have used 18mm OSB for a lot of this build. It’s well priced, uber strong and dimensionally stable. Use birch ply and maple floor planks for the fine details. The stability of OSB would also be good for the band wheels. The edges probably need to be resin sealed. Hey an epoxy “tyre” moulded around OSB core would be cool.
You could do with some long series drills that could go through both items to a deep depth. Then open to correct size with normal drills. Epoxy would be ideal for retaining those big roughened nuts.
I use that coupler nut trick all the time and it works very well, mostly for removable heavy table tops and heavy leveling feet. T-Nuts just don't have any strength and the thread count is so small they strip out under any amount of torque. They're almost a joke.
Random thought, If you plan on removing and putting back the "trunnion beam" and you do not want to adjust the location every time you put it back, you could put it in place once and then add a couple of wood dowels as a locating pins :D Nice work on the machine, Do enjoy your videos!
I'm a huge fan of this channel ... since I was 16 years old, and now I'm 19

You speak for me! It is indeed lucky for all of us subscribers that Matthias has all these talents together. Love you, Matthias!

The Willy Wonka of the workshop.
Kevin Carpenter there used to be a company that sold plans to make machines like this from wood. Wish I could remember the name. Think it started with a G.
Cliff Hartle I believe it was called Gillian's.
Kevin Carpenter
Very close, it's "Gilliom". ;-)
(Or Gil-Bilt tools from Gilliom Manufacturing)

Hands down one of the most skilled sets of tasks I've seen performed considering how much that need to fit right and so on. Congrats on the saw taking shape! This is really inspiring!
I love how you produce and edit your videos. I wish other youtubers would do the same.
Matthias you are the greatest woodworker I ever saw. Thank you for inspiring me to spend more time (and money) for creative work.
I guess you haven't seen many woodworkers then.
For me, he is "the greatest" for the type of work I want to accomplish.
I am always amzed at the answers you come up with for what you do for your projects. Good job Mathias
It's so satisfying watching your videos, especially the bandsaw ones!

I look forward to new videos in this bandsaw build series more than any TV show. No joke.
Дорогой Маттиас, ты просто молодец! Я повторил твою пилу у себя в мастерской. Всё прекрасно работает уже 3 года. Удачи тебе в будущих проектах. Привет из Сибири (Россия).
I'm glad you will be using this as a sawmill sometime. Those were some very entertaining videos.
Im always amazed at your workmanship on every small part. Just wish I had the time and dedication to do something like one of your smaller bandsaws!
I love your channel. It's so soothing to watch you build stuff. Never stop.
Look forward to building one. Construction adhesive, John Heisz would be proud.
I am no carpenter or designer - but as far as "educational/interesting" RUclips channels go....you're up there my man! Thanks for putting all these together, great stuff.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with all of us Matthias!

Tony Lorentzen if you haven't checked out his web page maybe have a look cause often he writes articles that go into some depth.
I haven't - but I will. Thanks!
And he sells plans for many of his machines, if you want to give him money.
Matthias B. I don't want drawings actually. I'm more interested in the thought-process behind his designs. Think of my request as a way to get a "behind the scenes" look if that makes sense ;-)
He has another channel for that. Check that out. I have bought plans only for support. I don't inttend to make them
Years ago, I laid a floor with unfinished middle grade maple planks. Along with a sheet of Baltic ply the maple would make a stunning band saw.
Cool approach with the threaded inserts/couplers to keep the glue out of the threads. Coming along great!
Eventhough I know I will not build many of Matthias' contraprions, it is sheer pleasure watching him work
I dreamt I met Matthias once. He was really wise and showed me all of the heritage in the area. Also I stayed in one of his wooden cabins in the dream. Damn

Matthias, you continue to amaze me with your talent and expertise. I enjoy watching you make things very much and yet to make your pantarouter. regards Mike
This is turning out fantastic.
Your craftsmanship is just awesome and smart. Amazing!
I find these videos very relaxing. Nice big bandsaw.
I love the band saw build vids, cant wait to see finished article. For the trunnions you would never look back if you built a good trammel jig for the router. Takes all the inconsistency, guess work and sanding time and away.
I so look forward to this series, really enjoying it thanks Matthias
...Wonderful job Matthias!!, am always impressed by your work and your sense of/to details...good job!..

Excellent video Matthias.
I love that little piece of hardwood wood under the head of the carriage bolt in the trunnion.
I love how easy you make this look. Can't wait to see it completed already...
As always, blown away. Is there any problem on earth this guy can't solve?
Matthias for World President!
food scarcirty in Africa ? Making Asian people taller ?
you are very good its a pleasure watching you because you admit your errors and don't try to fool people awesome my friend
I'm so glad I've been holding off on building a Wandelsaw because this one is the one I'm going to build. If you are able to turn this one into a mill as well, it will be perfect.
Remember... It is not as easy to make as he display in the video, best of luck man
Farmer Ash - without a doubt, but it's not my first day in a wood shop. If I step out of my comfort zone with a project, I just slow down and take my time.
As usual, continuously impressed. Great presentation Matthias!
DUDE YOU ARE RIDICULOUS, I WANT YOUR SKILLS. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
Excellent work and wonderful ideas, I really admire your style. Please keep going on.
Always enjoy your builds. Great video.
I love this build! You are a great innovator Matthias!

Love your dedication to detail Matthias!
Love watching the build of your band saw great work to.
You are AMAZING my friend...thanks for sharing your talent...!!!
shows how useful a bandsaw is - the best tool to make a bandsaw is another bandsaw found that out 45 years ago when I made a Gilliom un anadorned power tools
Watching all of this fit perfectly is... just so satisfying :D

Totally creative and amazing.
SUPER E X T R A O R D I N A I R E ! ! surtout que c'est avec du bois , vraiment du beau travail !! .
...when engineering becomes art... luv it...
Good job Mathias, most inspiring
guywithcrazyideas is right, your videos are amazing, just a wonderful build, thanks for the great video
Absolutely brilliant, love the channel and thanks so much for sharing.
Excellent build and videography! This one looks even stronger than the previous trunnions. What radius did you use to make the circumference cut?
MRrwmac should say in the plans?
Another impressive build. Thanks for your great videos.
I like watching your videos, they are so relaxing
I still don't understand why i watch and like this videos so much. Can't even reassemble my broken ps3 controller that i tried to fix xD
Zapper playstation controllers are much more complicated then bandsaws, and they explode when you try to pull them appart springs and buttons everywhere :)
"That way I save 6 sheets of paper" 8:50 mark This guy is hilarious. Best youtube has to offer!
wow its my first time seeing your videos and it is really nice i wish i have found this before love your work bro

You are truly a carpentry guru
It's a very good job Matthias
Damn you're good Matthias.
awesome man , i wish i can do one or more of your projects in future
amazing build as usual... so pretty all made out of wood
love it :D
That is quiet. Super nice.
i was never into wood-working. but this is really nice.

who on earth would this thumbs down this guy??
You are the best, I like your contraption...
A really nice job.
Let's be real MW, you're "frugal" with everything, not just Baltic birch.
Matthias is elegant in his use of materials, except when he drops stuff from a great height.
"that way I save six sheets of paper".
I do the same. Apart from the money it’s a major hassle getting additional materials.

Epoxy would be ideal for retaining those big roughened nuts.
I'm guessing we get to paint it green on the next video?Your videos and projects are amazing.
so nice matt , well done 👍, go ahead
Good update Matthias!
I use that coupler nut trick all the time and it works very well, mostly for removable heavy table tops and heavy leveling feet. T-Nuts just don't have any strength and the thread count is so small they strip out under any amount of torque. They're almost a joke.
Yes! Friday is saved :)

Nice work on the machine, Do enjoy your videos!
Beautiful work... Love ya work!
You make it look so easy! ^_^
Awesome project :)
Wow that's awesome dude great work!!
Sei troppo forte !! Bravissimo !!
Из России с уважением! Спасибо за науку.
Hello Matthias when can you buy the plans for this 20 "Big bandsaw?
YOU AS ALWAYS WELL DONE!
Watching tools being made is always cool.
Matthias.
Hint hint.
by 2020, youre WHOLE Workshop is gonna be 100% wood and 100% homemade 😂
I love you
Amazing as always! Love Fridays :)
Really Awesome!
