Love how your doing your vlog’s now. Switching back and forth between the two of you and your different points is really engaging and feels really professional. Thanks for your passion and effort you put into them. Great work fella’s 👍👍
OMG I'm so happy to hear you say not to limit calories on recovery days!! I don't know exactly when it became the fashion to raise and lower food intake day to day based on activity, but it's crazy making - that is not how the human body works! Humans are walking refrigerators! If we eat more than we need, it gets stored, if we don't have enough food, it gets used ... dropping calories on a non-active day is silly and unnecessarily complicates life. Even more importantly, if you train for real, recovery is quite a bit of work for you body and it needs food to do that!!
Thank you Kristi and Pat for this! Regular, aging, garage gym athletes like myself need this type of content. I will be gradually implementing these techniques in my recovery plan.
Found this video just now as I’ve been re researching recovery after a difficult couple of weeks! This was super helpful to know what I was doing right and some other ideas! Thanks and love the videos
The sleeping pics at 6:24 are just ADORABLE! I've subscribed a few weeks ago, although I'm not into CrossFit at all (I'm a runner). But I find your advice on nutrition, strength training, recovery and other topics very valuable nonetheless. Keep up the great work!
I love doing 30 min actual cardio and then a long 6 mile dog walk after in the early AM when it's only 30-35 degrees. Force myself to wear just shorts and a tank top for basically a free ice bath. 🤣
I always wanted to know how many calories I should eat on recovery days. Turned out that I ate not as much as I should since I thought I should better cut my calories. Thank you guys, eating the same amount of calories in order to perform well the next day makes perfectly sense! Advice taken :)
I've watched 3 of your videos in the last 30 minutes and loved everyone and just subscribed to you. I've wanted to give crossfit a go since watching the documentary following the crossfit games in 2016 about 10 months ago. I've only been training for 12 months now so probably not good enough to try crossfit yet but 1 day I will and thats 1 of my fitness goals
Thank you so much for the support and kind words! You can absolutely give crossfit a try. You want to make Sure to find a gym that focuses on quality movement and technique and has coaches that will make sure to correct you and help you! Crossfit is amazing because it is infinitely scalable for all fitness levels!
My room has been blacked out for a while now, a little trick I picked up from working night shift at a hospital and needing to sleep during the daytime.
Love all your tips. I may have to check out the eight sleep. I tend to over heat at night, especially on heavy training days. Very helpful, looking forward to more videos. Definitely going to work this into my routine.
Awww the Team Richey feature!!! Love me some Craig and Jas!!! Y’all are so awesome and fun! Love following. I’ve learned such an irreplaceable wealth of knowledge from y’all and I’m sooo grateful! 🙌🏻🥰 Best content ever! 👏🏻 Working up to the ice bath 🥶😂
Great video - thank you and Happy New Year! Just a side note, but 11h is probably unrealistic for most amateurs like myself, with day jobs. Also, with age, falling and staying asleep gets tougher. I feel solid when I get 6h of good sleep. Less, or nights with apnea, and I can barely crawl out of bed! 😅
Love this type of content and loved that pervious video with y’all’s food! As a woman in her mid-30’s This is the real life content need more of ! I’ll actually be in a hotel for two months with no ability to prepare food because there is only a microwave (hot plates, waffle makers, etc are prohibited 😭) …super stressed about what I’ll be eating to undergo the stress for 8-hrs of work and staying physically active whether inside the gym or outside…My gut is super sensitive to mass amounts of sodium or dairy..any advice, my mind is open! Happy holidays to you both! 🎉
Kristi, nice teeth. We need a dental care video. Also, my nose gets clogged so nose breathing is hard for me. And I live in Kansas so I just lay outside in the winter I’m sure that’s the same as an ice bath.
Hey ! I think the 3 things that make the biggest difference druing a comp are.. - a really good warm up - liquid carbs right after an event to maintain energy levels and avoid crashing - cool dows like light bike or row to keep your blood flowing
I don't have a particular one to recommend, but I would suggest thinking about what else you would like it to do and read into a few. They all have different functions outside of heart rate!
Thank you so much for this. I have been focusing on my sleep recovery and I can tell when I don’t hit my marks. I don’t know if I could do the ice bath being in South Florida. 🥶
Great video and great tips !, I have a question plz , If I am still tired from the day before ,would I still exercise the day after ? or would I induce injury to my muscles this way ?
I would like to see you gear some of your food and shake options toward the keto and ketovore crew for those insulin resistant and immune compromised for improved health. there are many more of them than your current group. all time best.
Where'd you get that dog bed for Milo with the built in blanket/mini-tent? Looks amazing and, as much as I love my pup, I know my own sleep would soooo much more effective if I could get her back on her own bed.
Haha it worked for us 😂 milo loves it!! we got it on amazon! milo hates our ceiling fan so it keeps the air off of him and he actually stays in his bed! www.amazon.com/dp/B07W2ZNDJJ?tag=onamzkristoco-20&linkCode=ic5&ascsubtag=amzn1.infl.us.product&creativeASIN=B07W2ZNDJJ&ref=exp_kristieramo_dp_vv_d
I jsut get whatever is cheap on amazon! I have 3-4 of them floating around the house so if I misplace one (Or Milo steals it LOL) I always have a back up!
Thanks as always for sharing your considerable experience and knowledge. Can I just ask what determines which of either the sauna or the ice bath you would use post workout / recovery days? Thanks in advance
Hey! the sauna is something we use multiple times a week, usually after a workout but will get in at any time. Ice baths are not as frequent and normally after very hard workouts that took a large tole on larger muscle groups!
Wonderful advice. Is there a way I should prepare to do a light version of the 3 girls CrossFit benchmark WODs today & an AMRAP of Snatches & Burpees-2-Target WOD tomorrow?
a good warm up goes a long way and a cool down on the bike after, then a good meal tonight with at least 8 hours of sleep should set you up for your amrap tomorrow!
Could not agree more. I used to think it was so uncomfortable but now I don't even notice when I wear it and honestly have a hard time sleeping without it!
Hi, I definitely believe there are benefits to getting protein in upfront in your day. The exact amount is going to depend on each person! I also prefer caffeine hah but I try to drink 16-20oz of water , eat my breakfast THEN I drink my coffee. Making this change has been huge for me!
Hey Sis I have a question that do CrossFit athletes take drugs?because I saw some comments that they do & for it they jacked?Just yes or no answer please.
@@Kristi-Eramo-OConnell wow this is enlightening. I never thought it could be that. You have no idea how much I have learned from this channel. Its my absolute favorite. I forward your videos to friends at my gym
Why are so many crossfitters juiced to the gills? do you people not think we can see it. do you think your sport has any credibility when you're all maxed out
his pov seems to come from people who tend to be lazy don't work towards any goals of their own, and assume any one who does must be cheating. thanks for watching and hope you are able to find a goal and routine!
Sorry, but its poor info for optimum health.,Generally. I'ts all based on your too stressful 'W/Out based life style'….. unnecessary at that level. WFPBased eating along with moderate to high res…. life style is more sustainable. Thanks for your vivd anyway.

ice baths tend to have an affect on muscle growth, but it depends whether training for strength/power or hypertrophy

What kind of sauna do you recommend? Infrared? Dry heat? Wet heat?
I love a steam and a dry heat so I would also like to know please
We like the dry heat!!
Been active my whole life. Having a very fast metabolism is very hard to keep up with. My body is like a vacuum.
You likely need a bit more food then! It Is good you know this!!!
Hey Kristi, any truth/benefits in the 30g of Protein within 30 minutes of waking philosophy? I actually prefer 30g of caffeine !!

I wish I had a female this dedicated around me 💪
It is nice to have a partner/significant other that has the same/similar goals and we can keep each other accountable!!
