- In 1337, Philip VI of France confiscated the English lands in Gascony and Ponthieu, starting the Hundred Years' War. The video is an animated map of the events of the first part of the Hundred Years' War, called Edwardian Phase, which started on May 23, 1337 and ended on October 24, 1360 with the treaty of Calais which awarded Aquitaine, Calais, Ponthieu and the castle of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte to England in free sovereignty, while Edward III renounced his claims to the french throne.
All battles and events are shown in the key.

I should mention that while obviously not all routier/free company raids are shown, but only those for which we have information, which are probably the most notable ones, you must keep in mind that a free company garrison would be ransoming the areas all around for "protection", a practice called taking or extracting "patis". This to say: free company garrison = destruction.
Thank you
Le même jour que la tienne XD
WOAH this is an absolutely insane video, massive respect
I feel like having labels for cities would make this video much more informative for viewer
I understand what you mean, but there are a lot of cities and I fear the names of cities would cover up parts of the map.
@@CrusaderMapperdo you not have insets for that reason?
@@CrusaderMappermaybe make the labels transparent or smth
@@CrusaderMapperI feel like mapping French feudatories would also be helpful Ik mostly all of them so I'd be willing to help you if u want
BRAVO 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is absolutely brilliant! I cannot wait for the second part to this, this is the most detailed mapping video on the Hundred Years War I’ve ever seen!
I applaud the herculean effort!
Thanks a lot Koopinator! I love your videos and your channel!
Underrated, Great Work !
Excellent work!!!
Wow beautiful video
really good map, I like this channel
Insane video !
Really impressive work.
Really impresive. My ancesters have defended the Baie d’Audierne and the Pointe du Raz at this time (The fief has fallen after) but we can see on your map this extreme western part of Britany stayed blue.😊
Wow this was amazingly done this must've taken forever
It did take forever 💀
Bon travail.
Impressive, very nice.
Let's see Jeanne's map.
Damn, I mean I knew that a lot happened, but I didn't know this war was THAT chaotic
It really was
this is so detailed! i have a question - how do you find out so much about these? it always confuses me whenever i see a mapper do this, so i wanted to ask!
Honestly, to find the books I need I just go in the sources used by wikipedia for the topic I want to research, and if you read them you find a lot more information than what is contained in the wikipedia article.
@@CrusaderMapper thanks for the response - but i have a quick question, where does it document exactly what advances were made every day or so? i personally cant grasp that concept of finding exact maneuvers every day for a few months within a book.
@@somebody.i there aren’t exact maneuvers for every day but 90% of the time it says if it happened in the early, mid or late period of that month.
Hundred years war, every week in real time
Finally someone is doing this war justice, i think that only Tigerstar mapped this one
Pretty much yea
Would've been better if you add some locations on the map
Modern civil wars be like:
Oh wait, wrong video.
The crusaders' chad
did this war, get carried on by their heirs and the other heris?
0:33 Hi-diddly-o kingdomerinos!
yes)
Are you planning to do the whole war? all 114 years of it?
Yes
I can’t believe Nedward Flanders led a rebellion in Belgium, huh?
This is one of the war that makes you wonder how France survived to this day
They changed their strategy to something better
@@CrusaderMapper for sure and thankfully
Part 2?
When I will have made it

Yea but it’s an animated map, not a documentary, it’s not meant to explain everything, but simply to show the territorial changes on the map.

Every single muslim country was conquered by Europeans 😂
@@hopeundertheblacksun That’s almost true for the colonial era. But in fairer fights where we have less of a technological discrepancy, the only net victory for the Christians would be the conquest of Russia/Ukraine. Their other victories like Spain and Hungary were reconquests, so it cancels out, but Muslims never took Russia: the Mongols did and then they became Muslims.
What are your favourite victories then?
