I love the song and I don't really care if it doesn't have the classic Judas sound. At the end of the day, it's all about melodies and good music. Works for me! 🤘
Huh? I thought this had more classic Judas Priest sound than what they've in couple of decades? I definitely hear Screaking for Vengeance in it, and Ram it Down. But most of all, I think it reminds me of Point of Entry. I think it has very 80's radio friendly metal feel to it. I love it!

I have never been that into Judas Priest, could not name more than 4-5 songs, but I heard this song for the first time today on our Swedish radio channel, and I instantly loved it. That guitar intro reminded me a lot of Van Halen and other 80s guitar sounds from back in the day. Brought up some great memories from when I was a child and started listening to hard rock and metal.
This song creeped up on me. My 1st impression was "yeah. It's alright. "The next thing I knew, I was singing the chorus, and before I knew it, I was on listen 5
If anyone is wondering about the symbolism, the horns are cut from all the demons you've had to defeat along the way, and yes, it is a direct reference to the biblical Crown of Thorns our Savior was forced to wear - hence the line, "all the blood He shed." The secondary meaning of the horns is a nod to metal being what it is, and how horns have been associated with metal since Dio made that sign against the evil eye so many years ago. The song is definitely about personal journey, and regardless of what you believe, we've all had our share of demons to face throughout our lives. @MetalPilgrim Stay safe, friend, and there's no need to apologize. the guitar and harmonies in crown of horns are definitely my favourite out of the three current singles, of course the power of panic attack and the grit of trial by fire are incredible and difficult to compare to each other because they are so different, but the intro to crown of horns just got my heart pumping immediately. I don’t think I would consider it a ballad, but it id say it is a ballad equivalent when it comes to lyrical choice and cleaner harmonies

I believe the outro solo is Glenn, not Richie. Considering where his abilities currently are, and knowing the difference between his vibrato compared to Richie... and how simple the solo is, give it a second listen. I may be wrong, but...
Priest opened up their show in '86 with a ballad, pretty much..."Out in the Cold". They just have a different spin on what is considered a Power Ballad.

"Crown of Thorns" doesn't sound like a "ballad" to me... it just sounds softer than a blistering heavy song that they regularly put out. I mean when it comes to a Judas Priest "ballad" I don't think of "Beyond the Realms of Death" either... I think of "When the Night Comes Down" or "Before the Dawn" or "Prisoner of Your Eyes" or "Turn on Your LIght".
They actually have a heartbreak ballad called 'prisoner of your eyes' (which i love) during the turbo session.this song sounds a little bit like 'heart of a lion' another unreleased turbo session song
Thats also a very good song. It is as you said, a full on power ballad tailor made for MTV, Radio. Absolute classic example of mid 80s power ballad that would'nt sound outta place from bands like Dokken, Def Leppard, Heart, whatever. And, thats not a bad thing at all. Its well played, written, and its got a killer solo to really hit the heart more. Also good is "Turn on Your Light". A terrific acoustic driven ballad that, finally surfaced on the Defenders of the Faith remaster years ago. 👍👍
There’s also a Guitar Solo at the very start, like the very first second. It’s a great ear-popping guitar solo that you usually would hear closer to the end, and it’s a great one.
Well, it reminds me of Worth Fighting For, and also lyrically and structurally it reminds me of some of the emotional Halford pieces, 25 Years, Prisoner of your Eyes, Silent Screams, etc. It sounds very Halford-esque.
This is one of the most beautiful songs that Priest have ever created. It has the tension and deep introspection of Worth Fighting For and Never The Heroes combined with the power, optimism and Heaven and Earth type message to that goes out to everyone. I know you have been to shows where Glen Tipton emerges to play the last few songs. You cannot say the his tone is not epic. And overshadows Falkner regardless of how good Falkner is he cannot capture the tone of Glen.
I love Crown of Horns, but I have to concede that it doesn't feel very Priest. Like, I could imagine it being released by any number of other bands ranging from Van Halen to The Ghost Inside and not coming out that different
I apologize as I did not realize you are in Ukraine. God bless! That said? Richie’s intro to the song gave me chills. It hooked me immediately! I love KK but Richie has become a monster!
I really dug the last one with Tipton, this one..meh, I have not read the lyrics yet, but musically it just seems a bit generic to me..no hate though. I love RF's playing in general. Interestingly, one of my favorite JP songs is balladish.. Night Comes Down.
The way you described building a relationship with a song reminded me of Blood Red Skies. It was my least favorite song on Ram It Down and now it’s my favorite.
Judas Priest's best work. I've been listening to Priest for almost 20 years now. I'm not just referring to the album, Crown Of Horns is for me the best song of his career.
I like to know what the song is about?? Crown of Thorns would make me believe it was about Jesus! Crown of horns makes me wonder if it’s about the evil one?? Looked up the word “ crown of horns and it speaks of evil. Like the opening Riff thou… but like to hear what the band says about the song and its meaning.
Great album. Priest has ALWAYS been versatile. Don't like it? GTF over yourself, real fans appreciate every note, but and lyric this band has pumped out over the decades. UNITED WE STAND.
It seems we were wrong about that fast snippet from the tracklist video being the next single. Perhaps they’ll release that as the fourth single in February 😂😂😂
I love the fade out, but I wished we could listen to the solo a bit more and then fade out. (well, if I'm really wishing for something, I wished that Rob would make an outro performance like the one on blood red skies)
So is Crown of Horns a ballad or not? :)

@@ChazinFl1There was a short snippet of the 4th (back then 3rd) song there that sounded like a fukkin son of Hell Bent For Leather. An absolute opposite of these 3 previous released songs.....man I am excited
I know you have been to shows where Glen Tipton emerges to play the last few songs. You cannot say the his tone is not epic. And overshadows Falkner regardless of how good Falkner is he cannot capture the tone of Glen.
Hey man. It's them and thats what matters man. Been a fan since the seventies. No silly avatars or artificial b.s. Just kickass music!❤️❤️👍👍🤘🤘
I know Glen cannot tour anymore due to his health but is he playing on this new record or is it Andy Sneap?
I think the chorus is super catchy
Stay aafe❤
Sounds like a leftover from Rob's 2010 Halford album, "Made of Metal" which had a lot of these poppy power ballad rock songs.
It's something I will never seek. Lyrics are just inane.
I had the exact same thought. I can't really get into this one. But it reminds me of Thunder And Lightning from that album.
I love Crown of Horns, but I have to concede that it doesn't feel very Priest. Like, I could imagine it being released by any number of other bands ranging from Van Halen to The Ghost Inside and not coming out that different
When I first heard Panic Attack I was stoked. But the other two left me rather un-excited.
The song blows. (and apparently you deleted my comment/review of the track so that's my short version :/
Really catchy song good hook
I apologize as I did not realize you are in Ukraine. God bless! That said? Richie’s intro to the song gave me chills. It hooked me immediately! I love KK but Richie has become a monster!
From the songs we've heard so far, I think this song is the best one yet.
I believe Realms was actually the song that kid blew his face off to and not Better By You.
I'm adoring Crown of Horns so far, the intro kind of reminds me of something EVH would come up with
A lot of it sounds like a deep cut called Bring It On off of Redeemer of Souls / 5 Souls EP
This is literally the new version of "Take These Chains" from Vengeance... it's really nice
Chorus sounds like a ghost song but I like it
I like to know what the song is about?? Crown of Thorns would make me believe it was about Jesus! Crown of horns makes me wonder if it’s about the evil one?? Looked up the word “ crown of horns and it speaks of evil. Like the opening Riff thou… but like to hear what the band says about the song and its meaning.
Great album. Priest has ALWAYS been versatile. Don't like it? GTF over yourself, real fans appreciate every note, but and lyric this band has pumped out over the decades. UNITED WE STAND.
Beat not but, lol😅
You know I am one of those people who loves EVERY Priest song, right? :)
Metal Pilgrim I was not addressing you specifically I know you're hardcore fan that's why I support your Channel with likes and comments
Thanks my friend!
Thumbs up. Strong melodic track.
Very cool song!! Love it!
It seems we were wrong about that fast snippet from the tracklist video being the next single. Perhaps they’ll release that as the fourth single in February 😂😂😂
This new song is amazing!
Can't wait to see these guys in Glasgow in march with Saxon and heep awesome cheers Vic Inverness 😊
I love the fade out, but I wished we could listen to the solo a bit more and then fade out. (well, if I'm really wishing for something, I wished that Rob would make an outro performance like the one on blood red skies)
Bah, no point thinking too much about it..the song is great!
