Can't wait for episode 5: The Fence Returns.
Wouldn't it be the fence strikes back but I still want to see your sequel as well.
The phantom fence
@@joshk.6246 yeah my bad, im old and crap and couldnt remember the correct title 🤣
omg yes
@@joshk.6246 Darn that what I was going to say!
The introduction was great! I enjoyed the humor it brought. I, for one, truly appreciated the effort made into bringing it into your video. Great video Pete!
I agree 100%! Great intro
@@jeremyratliff1038 I feel couldn't help but chuckle with the humor to the whole situation. Dealing with electric fence is not fun! This just brought an outlet of humor to the frustration of zapping out the problem 😂
And as a bonus, we did not come in at episode IV, we were there from the beginning.
Super great Intro
The opening was awesome!👍👏
I don’t understand all the voltage and wattage lingo but I really enjoy your humor!
I guess I would have to use regular fencing and wooden posts as I could never figure out how to use an electric fence!
You've done well Obiwan Kefarmer, the Dexter Republic is safe once again.
Haha!
Lol good one
Pete FenceWalker👍
🤣
Peteywan is learning
I’m sorry Pete but u getting shocked was hilarious.
It never gets old watching people get shocked by a fence lol
@@youngguns1319 you mean you like watching old people getting shocked by a fence...
Getting shocked is very motivational, just watch the reaction ;-)
@@faniefaze
Yeah I get laughed at a lot when working on the fence at my place because I don’t turn it off and I’m always looking at the house when I get shocked and my wife and kids are on the pouch laughing I even think the dog laughs too lol
I swear I felt it the first time you got zapped 😅
I watched the introduction three times and will probably watch it again. This is really a classic and thank you for brightening up a gloomy day
Thanks J&D! That makes the time I spent on it worthwhile.
That downward vertical tilt was perfect!
@@JustaFewAcresFarm Pete, you are a man of many talents!
Absolutely agree! Loved the intro - well done Pete.
" comments sections that resembled dumpster fires" so good Pete, another great vid. Ty.
The fault finder helped to explain it so much clearer than the cheapy tester. For a percentage of us, I think it was well worth the $100+. Thank you for that.
But it really didn't tell me anything I needed to know beyond the cheap tester, except that the video viewer could see the readout.
I thought the fault finder was supposed to guide you to the fault? I was going to buy one but now i wonder if i should not waste my money? Any thoughts?
@@hillbillyfarms3714 The fault finder can get confusing, especially if you are dealing with multiple faults and your fence is interconnected such that you may have electricity coming from 2 directions. I have heard they work well for folks that have lots of experience with them. I prefer to use a voltage tester, along with my eyes & ears.
I helped my grandfather on his farm , and it was funny as hell when he got zapped .But I was a child then , turns out it's still funny when someone gets zapped .!
The intro was totally, totally entertaining. Wow! I can hear Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman song looking for another overload or fault as the search for faults at each post was underway
Bay....Excellent....I hadn't thought of that song but it fits...!!
Thinking of I Walk The Line, which isn't as appropriate, but add the image of a man on a mission. The Wire and Roland 'Prez' Pryzbylewski working out the gang relationships while the tune played. It now suddenly seems very appropriate.
"I'm not a lineman, but a farmer,
I walk the pasture and paddock..." 😆
One of my favourite farm hacks is to plug my fencer into a wifi smart plug (worth about $15). The smart plug can be controlled by an app on my phone. When I am looking for faults, or need to do a quick repair, I turn off the fence, repair and then turn the fence back on all standing right beside the fence. Obviously you need cell coverage in your field, but it has saved me countless shocks and is very quick. I also have the plug on a timer so if I forget to turn on the fence after I maintain something, it turns back on at 11PM.
Epic intro! I needed a good laugh this Monday morning, and got it! Thanks, Pete.
I can't express to you how much I loved that introduction as a child of the 1970's!
The old weed chopper-type fencers had a habit of catching dry vegetation on fire. I still have a couple of them sitting on a shelf, we sold fencers for nearly 50 years.
The look on your face when you said "I bet ya'll guessed that bird poop was my problem, right? No...no" 🤣
😆
I'm way too excited for this darn fence fix. But here I am on the edge of my seat, ignoring my wife's texts to bring her a sparkling water, hiding in the garage watching for the outcome. 😁
"You know, I could go and turn the fencer off, but where's the fun in that". OMG LOL!! Thank you, Pete. You are brave, I hate getting shocked, I'd be walking back and forth to the barn again and again.
@@daleolson3506 Thanks Dale, I will look into that for sure! My fence is too young to and short to have so many faults to chase, but some day I hope it will.
Just a ground spike and a wire with an alligator clip on the other end can be used as a shunt to ground if you don't like getting zapped while working on the connection.
“I’ll just keep my hand away from that, maybe ju… ouchhh!!!” 😂
Best intro ever!!! 😆Thanks for letting us hang out with you today!
10:10 - Growing up on a farm and doing lots of fence maintenance, this brings back a lot of memories 😃
Sorry...I couldn't help but laugh out loud when you got shocked! Brings back childhood memories!
Your lead in to the video is marvelous. Perfect timing and carry through. 👍🏻👍🏻. You would be a great teacher; I enjoyed the learning experience. And, I’m glad you gave Titus his due credit. 😁😇
Pete! Fantastic work on the intro. Thanks for all your hard work on editing and producing these videos.
Interesting and satisfying. I think maybe a walk around the fence line after dark might help a bunch, too.
Is it bad that I laughed out loud each time you were shocked!!😂😂😂 brings back happy memories of spending time on a farm in my younger days!
I am impressed with your self control Pete - no bad words coming out of your mouth with the shocks. In this day and age, that is a refreshing change.
Dunno why I cried laughing at your pain but man that first big shock had me rolling. Great video Pete. I was really cool to see you isolate each section and work from the inside out.
Loved the intro, glad the fence is back in service. I got a real charge out of watching you fix it. Have a good day.
My wife and me laughed so hard at your getting zapped and your comments after each zap. That was real fun video, Thank you so much for taking the time to make it for us.
When I was a kid we had one of those weed cutter fencers and you are right they were mean hot. I've found birds perched on the barbed wire with their beaks on the hot wire with a bug in their mouth. Every time the current would hit the dead bird it's feathers would stand on end. It did keep the fence weed free though. If you can find them, those old glass insulators work well on corners and ends. Thanks for the video Pete. Good day.
Our old weed burner was bad about starting fires.
@@T_Humphries We used one for years and never had a fire start. Maybe we were just lucky. Luckier than the birds, for sure. :o)....
The Intro was great, nice to see the kids helping you out with the computer stuff. Got my grandchildren watching you all the way from the UK.
My grandmother had a saying of “If you learned something new today it is not a wasted day”. So we all have a great day because you have taught us a new lesson. Keep up the great lessons Pete. I for one truly appreciate that you unselfishly share your knowledge and experiences.
Shocking... Shockingly good conclusion!
I don't know that I've ever been more invested in a series in my life!! So SO glad you got it resolved!
Insulated electrician's gloves are your FRIEND......Daddy had me ride my horse up and down the fences during summer vacation and I learned quick.
I saw the cow chuckle when you got zapped
Gosh, a metal detector around your farm would reveal some interesting relics. That it's your family farm dating back so far is absolutely amazing. Love your stories!!
This is probably your most Spielberg moment ever!!!! Love it!!!!! Great job and looking for more!!!!!!!
I was surprised wet bird poop was such a good conductor. Hitchcock never thought to include that in "The Birds".
My favorite parts was whenever Pete got shocked. And I understand what he means when he says he kind of likes it.
37 seconds in and this is the best video ever! Love the intro. Can't wait to see how this one ends up.
Solved most of my fencing issues when i switched to a New Zealand type fencer a few years back. Did have some problems 4 or 5 years ago so I got a 120 mile fencer instad od the 50 mile fencer i had. That did the trick, the calves don't even sneak under the fence anymore to get to better grass. As a side note my fence is terribly weedy and even brushy some places. But it still works good. I feel for you, when the fence don't work right it is a constant worry.
I know you didn’t need the $100 tester and could have fixed your fence without it but thanks for the visual, helped me understand what you were doing. The sacrifice you made for us city slicker viewers is appreciated. Thanks
WooHoo! Your perseverance paid off. 👍. Every time you got zapped I got the willies. 🤣. I must say your intro was OUTSTANDING! I laughed out loud and had a big grin on my face. Brilliant! 🥰
Ah Yes. One of the of the ancillary benefits of farming. The deep satisfying feeling of conclusion through self reliance. Congrats on your search & repair.
The intro was great! And I don’t mean to laugh but watching you take a couple whacks from that fence made me chuckle, I am a lineman by trade. Those fences will wake you up and keep you on your toes!
Loved the retro intro!
My dad used to use his hands to find leaks. When the static in the radio got unbearable at grandma's, he'd go out and walk around grabbing the line as he went. When it quit zapping him (which hardly made him flinch) he'd clean or replace the insulator.
It was like he was immune to it. 😎
He loved to get us kids or our aunts and uncles to hold hands and walk around the back yard. He's invariably at some point each over and grab the fence. The lady one in the chain would let out a good yelp and realize they knew better... Again! 😆
Of course this was back in the late sixties, before the "mess your britches zappers" were out there, but they weren't something to pee on either!
Titus!!! His big personality is the star of the show!!! He's so funny and a big baby that loves your attention! He could have his own channel!
You're right (as usual...) The "weed whacker" chargers started too many grass fires, probably resulting in product liability lawsuits. The "old timers" around here used to use a florescent tube as a "tester." You can leave an old tube leaning on a distant portion of your fence to sorta tell at a distance if your fence was "hot" We're all really enjoying your videography, Pete! ('specially the part where you get ZAPPED!)
Great video don’t listen to the moaners picking at everything you do, you know what you think is best and you will know what works for you keep up the good work and entertaining videos👍
Thanks Callum!
I don't see many detractors on Pete's videos.
I love the genteel tone of all of your videos Pete.
Pete, you got meemaw, who's going on 95, laughing and slapping her knee every time you touch that hot wire.
She suggests you throw away that sophisticated piece of yellow equipment. Go back to old fashioned way the way they did it. She said and didn't take long to get a calculator finger to judge between 7000 and 4,000 volts. In her case especially when she had a younger sibling to do the testing. Y'all have a blessed day she said.
I jumped when you jumped. jeepers, I got energized just watching you.
Love the intro, Pete.
I’m a software engineer and your method of breaking down the size of your fence to localize the problem is similar to how I find bugs - first limit the scope of your search.
The Force is with you young Jedi!
We put water pipes over the T bar fence post to stop the little rubber insulater wraps from being punctured. Maybe this little trick will help ya some. Plus it made it more visible to the cattle and most important. It rotates so the cattle can't scratch on it so they eventually leave it alone.
The fence is strong with you !it’s like a game of operation only funner!
Best intro to a RUclips video I have ever seen. Grabbing some popcorn and going to watch it another few times
I just saw that Hillary liked the old classic Star Wars and then RUclips showed me this video this evening.😁 Loved it.
very nice series! Since the turkey wagon has a seperate power cord for the light you can maybe add another fence charger for the turkey fence. So the other fence can have full power no matter what the turkey fence draws.
You've done well my young Jedi. Much there is to the force. May the Feathers be with you. But there is still another. Emu 1.
Congrats Pete.....
Glad you fixed it finally...
And thanks for the good laughs as You got nailed by the fencer 🤣😂👍
Man Pete! How I love watching your videos! The Star Wars intro was so original. I can't wait for the next saga.
One of your best videos yet, love the opening and the troubleshooting. Your ears are the best tool for finding ground outs. The loops on those electronet fences that you use for the turkey's getting pushed down and grounding out on the post seems to be a common ailment, pretty much the only thing I look for on mine any more when the voltage drops.
You and I react TOTALLY DIFFERENT when getting shocked by electric fence. Hats off to not needing to bleep anything out!
The sus-fence is electrifying...............
Seeing sparkles AND you’re happy? Maybe I should go get shocked too.
I enjoyed the way you did the troubleshoot and even better, the way you explained it.
8 seconds in and this video is already one of the best ever!!!
Great intro. I liked the way you isolated everything. Pete, I glad you took the hit for the team.
Looked like a beautiful weather day for fence repair and “sparkly eyes” lol.
LOL Loving your vids, coming from grandparents that lived through the depression I learned a lot, and work hard when I want something done. Congratulations to preserving AMERICAN LIFE!!
Pete, that was very rewarding for me and i had nothing to do with it, Love watching you solve the problems.
Thanks so much for sharing the details about electric fence problems. By the way , you brought tears to my eyes when you got bit. Hope you have a great day
And with you! This was great. I love watching your progress on the farm. Thanks.
Pete the intro was hilarious 😂
You had me at the Fence Wars opening. Brilliant!
Great analogy Pete with the water pipe. Perfect.
Poultry netting is my bane, and blessing. It is practically impossible to have one that isn’t an enormous drain. Once I disconnected it from the pig fencing, and connected the net to a dedicated solar energizer, at least the pig fence is properly energized. The poultry netting, maybe not so much. But, in large part, the chickens are staying in and predators out. Once I re-clip their wings, (or butcher the one hen that gets out everyday) it should be good to go.
I truly enjoy your videos. Your attitude, joyful spirit, humor and kind nature are refreshing. Combine those attributes with tour easy-going teaching technique, we learn something practical in every video.
I have sincere, heartfelt praise and gratitude for your efforts. Thank you
Every time you got shocked I jumped too! Good detective work! I’m the fence repair person too, thanks for the great shows on it, I learned quite a bit! Great intro, gave me a chuckle. 😊
Amazing,,, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING,,,MAY THE YOU TUBE BE WITH YOU.
That fun opening really makes me smile!!!!
Good find Pete, best feeling in the world finding them faults. The $110 meter had a lovely clear screen & I was able to follow the whole diagnosis process. The starwars intro was a lovely touch.
It seems to calm the bovine clan when you are speaking to the camera. I think your voice is soothing to them.
Great investigation for leaks. You are right, you can do it with time, don't spend the money....you are smarter than you think! Enjoyed.
That Cecil b. Demille opening was pretty good. It had me anticipating a cast of thousands…
Hilarious start! Shocking, just shocking!
Love the intro!
.....Hoping there's no sequel: "The Fence-wire Strikes Back". ;)
Glad you got it all sorted!
Aahh, science. I've worked for telecommunications companies since 1995. The logical, systematic approach you used here is almost exactly the same as finding a break in a phone line. Or a satellite link for that matter. Cool stuff. Thanks for this series. 👍🦅🇺🇸
Awesome intro pete!! Im very happy you got your fence the way you like it and the satisfaction of solving the problem is great. Your humor is too much sometimes i find myself cracking up every few minutes, and P.S your upload schedule is amazing because thats right when i get my lunch PST 8:00am!!! Never miss a video now.
Creative intro, had me laughing a few times ... especially your shocking experiences. Been there, done that, and they always wake you up. :) Thanks for sharing Pete, you are a good man sir.
Liked for the intro
Interesting to watch, was reminded of all the old houses I've remodeled, frustrating at times, and....shocking. Never burned down a house..intentionally.
You will sleep well tonight! Glad you found the problems and got things up and running!
This is the kind of cinematography I came here for!!!!
I went to work as a repair tech for IBM in 1980. Their philosophy and one of the first things they taught us on troubleshooting an electrical/electronic circuit was to keep dividing/isolating the circuit in half until you narrow the number of possible failure points down to something more easily checked in a short time. I've applied that same philosophy to other things besides electricity in life over the years. Glad you finally got your problem figured out. And like others, I liked the intro.
Hahahahaha love the intro already I'd give you a million likes if I could lol huge star wars fan here
That was an amazing and very creative opening! Great information as always.
Okay....the intro was perfect!
And when you explained in comparison with plumbing....it made sense! Thanks!
Wonderful.. how you deal with your frustration. And never giving up. Excellent problems solving. Divide and concur.
You crack me up!! I love how you’ve grown in your RUclips journey and confidence! Love seeing your personality shine!!
Well done Pete! Thanks for the lesson in perseverance!
Loved the intro! I have disconnected the second bottom wire on my electric netting and it has made a big difference.
