    Correction, the Jazz doesn't have a CVT transmission; it operates on a single-speed direct drive system, coined as 'e-CVT'. Sorry!

    So many people entirely failing to understand the concept and tech. This is a petrol powered car with reliable 4 cyllinder engine that's made as efficient as it gets while keeping it dead easy and cheap to operate. To all the haters who say it should be pure electric: no, we are not there yet, petrol is here to stay.

    Ah yes, the Honda Jazz...zzzz... It looks like three people were tasked with creating the exterior of the thing, one worked on the front end whilst another set about the side elevation and a third thought about what to do with the rear, none of them apparently able to agree on what they finally wanted. Result? An almighty mishmash, a design disaster. Paint a pair of oversize eyebrows and eyelashes on the top of the windscreen plus two equally large black dots for eyes underneath and with that bulbous bonnet for a nose what have you got? A Miss Piggy Muppetmobile.

    Excellent on point review, we've had our Luxe spec for around 3 months, our fourth and best Jazz yet. Incredibly efficient and such a relaxed calming car to drive, very different from the previous generations. The friendly, perhaps goofy face belies the incredible tech going on underneath, the single gear system with virtual steps is incredible and very clever and different to CVT. For me, I'm now eyeing up the 11th gen Civic hybrid but I thing it'll be costly, we'll see!!

      I had the luck to be invited by Honda to test drive the new civic in the last days of June, it was just as I expected: mind-blowing! The car is spacious (and a little big too) and it drives really well, the silence inside is surprising and the drivetrain makes you want to step on the gas, which is paradoxical for a kind-of-CVT equipped vehicle. My only previous cars were turbo diesel sedans from less than reliable German automakers so even though I only got the price to drop to 35 000€ from 38 500 on the fully equipped model, i signed just 2 days after the test ! Now I gotta wait until November if all goes well 😁

      Several queries:
      Is that a computersed mpg figure or a real world one...?Over precisely what sort of terrain?
      Is the car pretty jaring over potholes etc?
      In his video report I noticed a peculiar flickering display screen, very annoying I imagine - yes?
      Finally, do you know if it's possible to totally deactivate the chime that apparently "greets' the driver on opening the door...? (How I hate such gimmicks.)
      If you have the time to do so I'd appreciate your feedback on these four points, please, for which my thanks in anticipation.

      Ma copine en possède une depuis un an et c'est en effet une excellente voiture.
      Conseille pour toi : Le système hybride Honda fonctionne (sur autoroute) parfaitement entré 80 et 120km/h. Au delà des 120km/h la consommation grimpe vite en flèche. Ma copine fait du 60% autoroute, 20% départementale, 20% ville. Elle arrive à dépasser facilement les 800Km, voir 900Km avec un réservoir (mode ECON et toutes suisses). Sur toutes départementales elle fait très régulièrement du 1,8 - 2.2L au 100Km sur des trajets de 40Km.
      Faut la laisser un maximum sur ECON, rouler sagement et surtout, rester au dessus des 120Km/h 👍

    • @JackyWallet
      @JackyWallet 2 года назад +1

      @@sesvid Merci.Oui j'ai vu que sous les 120 km/h sur Autoroute la conso restait raisonnable.!
      Je tourne à 4,5 litres en moyenne sans le mode ECO , donc pour l'instant c'est plus 700 km d'autonomie.Mais le vendeur m'avait dit qu'il avait en effet dépassé les 800 km d'autonomie et je veux bien le croire.
      Bonne route.

      Au plaisir 😉
      Le nombre de kilomètres parcourus dépend de tellement de facteurs qu'il est quasiment impossible de le quantifier avec précision pour tout et chacun.
      Sur autoroute ma copine est aussi aux alentours de 4.5L. Mais avec énormément de 120-100-120-100-80-100-120km/h.
      Comme moyenne en absolue:
      3.8L en été.
      4.1L en hiver.
      En Suisse en roule plutôt calmement. Énormément de portions 80-100Km/h sur autoroute et de plus en plus de zones 30km/h en ville.
      Ceci aide certainement à réduire la consommation.
      Les zones 30 en ville sont avantageuses pour les véhicules hybrides car ces zones sont aussi de priorité de droite. Ceci fait qu'on doit souvent ralentir de 30 à environ 10km/h pour ensuite accélérer à nouveau jusqu'à 30km/h.
      En tout cas, bonne route avec ta belle Jazz 👍😉

    Hey Christopher,
    I’m thinking of downsizing from a large(ish) petrol SUV to either the Honda Jazz or Toyota Yaris, or even Yaris Cross.
    My question is which one of the above would you recommend and why? Had a Lexus hybrid before, absolutely loved it, best car I owned so familiar with Toyota products.
    I can’t decide which one to consider.

    • @TotallyEV

      Not reviewed the Toyota models, so can't comment but can suggest the Honda as a great little hybrid.

  • @sp-tw8ij
    @sp-tw8ij 2 года назад +5

    Had the car for about 18 months. Summer l get very close to 63 mpg. Winter l get close to 60 mpg. All with mixed routes and includes long motorway runs.
    The car is comfortable and roomy.
    Won't go far in EV mode (maybe.5 miles), but kicks in for example in stop start mortoring, reversing, lower speeds and occassionally on high speed runs.
    Ride is a little bumpy on uneven roads, but that due to the basic suspension. The car is an economy model hence a more basic car. But has all the modcons and safety kit I need/wanted.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 года назад

      Pretty good going there! Of course, everyone's usage is different - but our figures are from our normal test routes.

    • @sesvid
      @sesvid 2 года назад

      Actually the Jazz is far from "simple" suspensions. It has independent suspensions all around. Which car in this class - even the way more expensive ones - has this? Very little to none 😉
      The bumpy ride comes from the low air volume in the tyres (thin 185 tyres). Our previous Ford Kuga Vignale was way bumpier 😉

      Same as Toyota hybrids… plus, there is no button for pure EV mode. If you turn on the heating, or A/C on max, the engine will start whenever you touch the gas to protect the battery from fast discharging. But that is not a problem, that is how hybrids work. The cheapest plug-in hybrids are much more expensive and bigger.
