Yes, the recristalization ( don't know if that's the correct term, I'm a German) is really cool to watch if one is kinda nerdy with metallurgy.ill stop for today, I live in croatia and it's around seven pm. But I'll continue tomorrow. You are awesome and thanks for the time you take to reply and all. Being a bladesmith and taking that amounts of time for RUclips.... This must. Be more than a full time job. C ya tomorrow on my binge watching yourney. Ps....thanks for talking about hand sanding. There is so many beginners on reddit for example, who neglect it. They use angle grinders for beveling and then they use some attachments to do a " mirror polish" I don't know yet if you did a video on the importance of hand sanding or not, but it would be great to have a dedicated video about that topic
@@TyrellKnifeworks yes I get that it doesn't look cool but it's really important for making hand made blades. Thanks for your time, I'll have a burger now. And then I'll go to watch the walking dead and go to sleep. C ya tomorrow.
That is a beautiful knife sir. The distal taper appears flawless as does the finish on the blade and the handle. The steel itself is a work of art. I can only hope that someday I can make something half as nice.
It took me a while to figure out a good way to do the shoulders. I keep looking for better setups. Let me know if you find out something better! Thanks for watching!
Yeah but I always do the shoulders after heat treat and final grinding. Else you risk grinding away your shoulder. I’ve tried that way and it’s riskier.
I am such a noob at forging I was scared watching you wearing shorts and crocks to forge😳 have you seen my blooper reel forging the gladius! I liked your hand sanding setup especially the sanding sled and also paid attention to how you used the file as a backer.. Great knife man! Super beautiful pattern and the fitment of all your pieces came out real nice!
I'm glad I'm not the only one whose shit comes apart when sanding it!!🤣copper and brass really are hard to get right, and stay together with different types of wood on each side. I've had to glue back together handles several times because of the heat conduction. Very nice work!
@@TyrellKnifeworks I believe that trying to epoxy end grains of wood has something to do with it also, besides the heating up of the metals. I'm going to try regular gorilla glue, and see if the heat affects it. With a Japanese style, dowel insert on the tang, applying epoxy after the heavy sanding is done. If it holds together, the epoxy on the dowel and tang should give it the strength?🤷🏿♂️
@@TyrellKnifeworks mind you, I've just started making knives, but I have a little common sense. The pin you put through holds everything together also, and I started doing this after the epoxy failures.
@@TyrellKnifeworks when the handles came apart, I was using JB weld epoxy, the 3900 psi 5 minute kind. I was thinking about trying regular wood glue, since the epoxy failed a few times, that's all. 🤷🏿♂️
Sorry, Mark, I’m not taking custom orders. Though if I did a set of kitchen knives in feather, it would be in the $8-10k range for 5. Thanks for watching.
If you weld against hardened steel you’ll ruin the temper on the blade. Either you forge weld the bolster before heat treat or do a cold fit after. Thanks for watching.
It’s just because the mill is on casters and moves when I change end mills or open the bottom cabinet. While milling it’s very stable. Thanks for watching.
Next what? Next knife? I won’t have anything available for sale until June or later. I’m focusing on my Journeyman knives right now. Thanks for watching
Only smiths jealous of Tyrell's skillz could dislike this vid. shame on you 4.
Well there always those few that just have to be the naysayers. 🤷♂️ Thanks for your support!
I love it! I shall use it for years to come. Thanks for helping my boyfriend pick the perfect present for me!
Hi Heather, I’m assuming it was you boyfriend who recently purchased this knife. I’m very pleased you like it! Thanks for commenting and watching! 👍
outstanding job! a most beautiful blade! Truly an heirloom piece for the lucky person that bought it!
Thanks for checking it out, Daniel!
that's my most favourite pattern so far, beautiful
It’s time I do another explosion pattern soon! 👍

I've done videos on hand sanding in the past. It's not a very glamorous topic so they aren't well-watched videos. 🤣

Sir, you're a God of Damascus. That came out fantastically beautiful. The pattern is crazy awesome
Thanks Darrell! Wait until you see the challenge bowie! 😮
You are a true artist, I love watching you work.
Thanks so much, Gino! I appreciate you watching
Gorgeous knife Denis The damascus has a lovely almost drawn pattern to it that I really appreciate.
Thanks for checking out the video library. 👍
Best one i've seen! Both because of the damascus pattern and because I love cooking. Would love to have it but I only have 2 kidneys =(
This one was sold a long time ago. Thanks for checking it out. I need to do another explosion again soon though.
That is an absolutely amazing blade. I can only wish I could make something that nice lol
Thanks! Everyone starts somewhere. Keep at it and you’ll be making similar knives! 👍
Awesome job love your knives

Forgot to mention I would love to see a video of how you built your knife vise, it looks very useful.
Thanks so much! Keep at it and you’ll be building better knives!
I did talk about and show the knife vise in a video. It wasn’t a step by step how-to though. Maybe in a future TripleT.
@@TyrellKnifeworks Do you remember which video ? I look forward to hearing about it on a Triple T for sure.

I’m happy it was helpful! I need to try this pattern again some time. Thanks for watching, Stephen!
Outstanding work... Thank you for posting the video for us to watch
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love what you do with the shoulders on the mill. I just got my mill a couple months ago. I am going to have to give that a shot.
It took me a while to figure out a good way to do the shoulders. I keep looking for better setups. Let me know if you find out something better! Thanks for watching!
The only thing I can think of right now is to create flats, do the shoulders, and then bevel. That way you don't have to mess with the file guide

It’s been so hot here the shorts were necessary! There were a couple times with hot scale in the toes! 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤️
I don't understand why you do not have a larger following, your knife making skills appear to be spot on.
Thanks Dale! The channel is growing and just takes a bit of time and it’s only been since Feb. Thanks for watching!

for adding the bolster what i would do is i would get a mig welder and weld a bloster shape end then grin but you wont have you pattern

Quick question. What do you think of making a video for each custom blade so the owner can see how it was made
