Thanks!
Long time subscriber, looking forward to some rock cutting. Chris & Lisa.
Chris and Lisa! Thank you so so much! I really appreciate your generosity. One step closer to a big saw!
@@AgateAngler is there a huge drought in the canyon like at lake Mead??
Never watched many videos on the rock collecting. But finding it interesting and will give it a try.
I need to educate myself on types of stones which are interesting enough tv to get a few stones.
I can't even begin to explain what rock hounding was like 60 years ago in Western America in comparison to what's available today. Picking up football-sized pieces of jade on the Frasier River in Canada, spending all day at Oregon Opal mines that would pay for the vacation. Digging thunder eggs at 10 cents each in Eastern Oregon, and picking up Agate, Chalcedony, Jasper, Bornite, Corundum, Quartz, and Staurolite all over Idaho. Finding pieces of petrified wood so big it took 4 drunk dads and a wench to move them. Some of them I am sure are still where we left them next to their original divot. My father lined our yard with gem-grade obsidian and large lava rocks... it helped to have an available child workforce. We would drive to California for jade, jasper, serpentine, agate, tourmaline, petrified wood, malachite, fossils, and garnets. These long drives are where I learned I didn't like Country Western music much. I remember one summer "vacation" we had to stop collecting because we couldn't add more weight to a 1967 International Travelall 4X4 pulling a heavy cargo trailer, so we drove home, unloaded, and drove to the Oregon coast for a load of small coastal pine trees, my dad was into Bonsi too. Different times.
Lucky! Are you from Idaho?
I would say it’s the same as it is today . You’re walking around looking at rocks
I'm in my 60s now, yet all these years people have told me I was strange for looking and picking up rocks and putting water on them or licking them and collecting them and saying oh how pretty and I remember where I got this one from and yada yada. It's so nice to know I'm not alone! I'm going to turn my kids on to this video and they won't think I'm all that out of my mind now imagine that!
The rocks are therapy.. free therapy at that. I know I've gotten looks walking on the beach licking rocks.. what can one say if ya got bit by the bug ya got bit.
Found my first trilobites in driveway when I was 3. Been rock-hounding ever since. Don’t care what others think, don’t listen to nosy people whose opinions I do not value. And I was in school back when girls had to wear dresses. Mine had pockets for rocks.
❤
@@norahedwards6490 They really are therapy. Fossils also. I've always thought that and when I'm out hunting rocks or fossils my mind is perfectly clear and I'm in a zone. I live in an area of SC that is in the middle of the state and everyone I've met who looks for rocks usually goes up to the mountain, or a small pay to dig site that is several hours away. We have a gold belt that runs right through the middle of the state and it's about a fifty mile wide area that runs from Georgia up into Virginia. I love to explore and I've found so many beautiful crystals within just a 20-25 mile radius from my house. I'm always trying to tell anyone that lives in the area that there are nice rocks. Just imagine all of the sites left to be found out there. I just love it so much, especially the peace. Take care 🙏
Most people laugh at me for always being on the lookout for and collecting rocks when exploring, but I could care less. 😏😂 Buuuut l gotta say licking them is a little strange… haha just spit on them! 🙃
It's good to know I'm not the only person who looks at and picks up and keeps various rocks and minerals. The pile outside my back door is constantly growing. So fun. In another life I'd become a geologist.
You might be in the right place if you do that.....
Every stone is a memory.
When I was young, I go to the nearby river and look for shiny black crystals and I clean them and I swallow them. Stupid me was influenced by a movie I watched about getting powers from eating gems. I wonder what the square black crystals are called.
Edit: nevermind, I found them after googling, they're black tourmaline lol.
Geology rocks, but geography is where it's at.
Ditto 😁
Incredible finds, I don't know how you can determine when to stop and wrap up your day! The rock hunting is so addictive!
Hi Deb, thanks for watching. Usually my wife gives me 2-3 hours to hunt during nap time, so that usually determines the general length of the hunt.
I to am a rock hound , even as a young child , I picked up rocks that I liked wherever I went, grandma told me I had enough to pave out short driveway but I really didn't. I'm 67 years young and I still do it to this day. I've found petrified wood on the beaches here in N C, love watching you!
😅.
What beaches in NC?
@@DaveForman-f2q Topsail and Wrightsville Beach
Hubby and i took the dogs to the creek yesterday so i could hunt for 'interest pieces' for my new stone garden, pond and fountain ive spent all summer building using locally sourced materials and repurposed landscaping pavers and plants. We were an hour in on the 'bank combing' and my husbands starts laughing out loud! After a few brief attempts to regain his composure, with frailty, he enlightened me to the vision that played out in his head as i take a few steps, pick up a rick and get giddy about another neat find, then a few steps more and my enthusiasm resumes. As he watches from upstream, he recalled a family guy episode......"ooh, piece of candy" ....."ooh, piece of candy" ....ooh.....🤣🤣🤣 It was a great day!!
Omg, that carnelian is gorgeous, and the size!
Just started following you and living in this state it is cool to see you explore the treasure this state has to offer! One thing that I think should be pointed out to your viewers is how unpredictable the Yellowstone river is and although it may not look it, it can be a very deadly river with the currents. Sorry I am a mom 😂 love watching your videos! Thank you!
Sara, that is a fair statement as is true on many rivers. Definitely something to take precaution with and respect the river. Thanks for watching!
Why are you sorry you’re a mom? Or is it, “Sorry, I’m a mom”?
The locals can figure it out. 😮
Thanks for Watching! Consider checking out the end of the video for a "Channel Update" - I am trying to fund raise to acquire a high quality lapidary slab saw for the channel. It would be a blast to start cutting some of these larger specimens and share them with you all. If you'd like to donate to the cause check the video description for my PayPal Link and other info.
I bought a little saw back in 2019 and was deliver in 2020 and they aren’t cheap at 5k for a 24” blade go big if you find big agates you won’t be disappointed and I picked up a thunder egg which is to big for my saw
I loved your finds! The carnelian was my favorite! I'll donate when I get paid. Thank you for all of your time and effort into putting these videos up. Blessings to you and your family!
Thanks for watching. I appreciate the thought, but please only donate if you can afford it. The last thing I want is for people to use non-disposable income to support the channel.
@@AgateAngler thank you for thinking of me, but I'll be able to afford a bit on payday.
You’ve gotten me back into rock hunting! I threw out a bunch of rocks years ago, now I regret it!
Oh no, should not throw
Fantastic finds! They are all beautiful, but my favorites were the of course the carnelian, the palm wood and that blue agate.💙 At first I thought that moss agate was petrified wood that had been jasperized and agatized, also a favorite. The agate right after that one, with the white cap on it, is the kind of agate when cut really thin, usually has iris in it. I'm sure Theo, Kate, Kim or Travis could help with tips. Would be awesome if you have found your first iris agate! Thanks for sharing your trip and amazing finds with us Alex!✌️🤠
Thanks for watching Kyla. I do wonder about the iris as well. I will have to look into getting it cut. I hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for supporting the channel.
Wow! You are just killing it today! That first TSA find was amazing!!! And the pet wood finds are super amazing. The grain texture on them is gorgeous. The blue heron was neat! The chert was amazing. I love banded chert! That blue nodule is gorgeous! That jasp-agate is super gorgeous! Yes, it needs to be cut! I love chert and jaspers. They are so pretty. The palm wood was a great find! and that moss agate was gorgeous. And your last find of the day, was amazing! I think a lapidary investment is an amazing idea. Let me see what i can do. Ive invested in other smaller channels, to help fund their futures, and i can do for you as well.
Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. IT was full of fantastic finds indeed. I would appreciate whatever support you are willing to offer. It will happen, the timeline will be accelerated based on the support I get from viewers like you.
Alex, I love those boom finds. Those ones where you see something peaking through the dirt and when you expose it, it creates an Oh WOW moment. How can those not be a boom find?! 😊
Grant, thank you for the feedback. I love sharing the "BOOM" with you all!
I have a shed full of strang fossels and stones.started as a kid im 67 now ..your vids show manny i have.🥰
That Blue chaladency? Millions of years ago there were palm trees in Iowa too!! About 150 million years ago, I have a large piece about 8lbs. Found during a water well drill
I found a hand-size fossil of a jellyfish complete with tentacles! dark gray with white jellyfish. I donated it to my collector friend. He's done a lot for me. Thanks for this video.
Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a Jellyfish fossil. Thanks for watching.
Being in Minnesota, I only collect Lake Superior agates... There is a vein that runs down through Minnesota and searching through gravel pits and dirt roads is my jam. 👌
You are welcome but this is only one of my 110+ U Toob channels ...I just happened to be on this tiny one when I found your video. 💪😎
I’ve been a rock hound for about 60 years and go looking every chance I get. Love your channel.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoy! Have you hunted on the Yellowstone?
@@AgateAngler no, mostly in southern New Mexico and west Texas.
Did anyone else see the UFO fly past at 7:13? Great hunt, loved that oddball big one, that should cut up beautiful, missed Kip.
UFO.... I'll have to look into it. Thanks Ken!
@@AgateAngler I saw it too! And its amazing when you see it!
Yes, saw it!
@@AgateAngler I've watched that part many times now and have discovered something really cool. I think it's a combo of my slightly older computer and the FPS this was shot in. Sometimes it's a continuous flight path until it vanishes, sometimes it disappears for a fraction of a second then reappears in a different spot then shoots away. As Lisa (largent45) noticed and mentioned in Discord, it is completely soundless. I also remembered that there were fighter jets you couldn't see doing something within sound range (which can be many miles).
looked like a meteor. Good find!
My first video of yours and I love it. I used to take my kids rock hunting, now it’s my grandkids. We don’t know what they are but we find all kinds of pretty rocks. I giggle when my daughter-in-law tells me about finding rocks in the washer and dryer. 😆 Thank you for the video 🌞🌞🌞
One thing I've always wanted to try when hunting agates on a gravel bar like this is taking a bucket out into the water, scooping some up, and carefully spreading the water out on the gravel, in hopes of making the agates pop out more in the sunlight. I wonder if it'd be worth the effort... anyway, thanks for the awesome video! It was a lovely, tranquil watch. :)
I've tried things like that in the past. I've found its more labor friendly to just get better at seeing them without water. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I use a small hand held pump sprayer. It holds a half gallon.
Thank you for showing the rocks on the ground before you get them wet or pick them up!!!
That was quite the day! When it comes to rivers, you just never know how well you are going to do. And that Carnelian...
I'm also another rock fan😂 ❤ and the treasure state never disapoints two of my fave hobbies-river day and rockhounding😊
The more rock fans the better! And yes, treasure states are probably my favorite thing to find out there. Thanks for watching!
That big mixed piece reminds me of the type of mix i see when hunting fire agates. The black and orange and quartz are good indicators for gold content as well... take it to a cash for gold place that uses a thermo sensor tool and see if they detect any metal in that piece....
Being able to collect on the water is one of my favorite things in the north east. You have beautiful pieces there. I'm jealous of the gravely u have.. love it.
First time viewer and yes I subscribed. Like Donna I too love picking up rocks. Where I have moved to 1 and a half years ago I've been finding shard trails from native Americans walking to their destination
Change the nozzle to a stream and you will be more effective at cleaning off a rock without spraying everything around it. Sometimes you're notclose enough to the shoreline to keep on refilling. I'd rather be looking for rocks instead of walking back and forth to fill a bottle.
This is the first time I've watched you. Stunned by what you found today. I was a rockhound in the Big Horns when could get around but I never had a one day haul like this.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment.
I bet you found some amazing rocks in the Big Horns!
Incredible finds!! love Jasper! find a lot of Jasper over here in Washington state as well. we find a lot of carnelian too! day before yesterday I was Rock hunting with my mama and found one that is the reddest red I have ever found I did not think it was going to Glow but by golly when I got a flashlight under it well, well, just as dark red in color as it glows the same fiery red. we would love to see some of your finds cut open, how cool would that be!! I think I remember you doing that a while back you took us to your rock shop that was really cool! I wish I had the funds to help, but I'll just keep liking the videos and and watching them all!!! good luck to you Alex, great finds today ❤️🙌
Ash, thanks for watching and for the video and for the support. I've always wanted to do some hunting in WA as we have some family that live there. Perhaps someday. Have a great weekend. And please do not sweat the donation request. Watching and sharing is more than enough support.
I feel that, Your videos make me want to visit my brother in Montana and hunt the yellow stone. Lol
One day! You and your family have a great weekend as well! Thank you for the awesome vids. I live vicariously through your hunting over there.😅💗
That Stonefly made me jump! Wasn't expecting that, but I am sure when you're out in nature there are lots of bugs. Just part of the adventure!
My son love picking rocks up!!
We go somewhere, we coming back with a pocket full of rocks
It’s very fun to watch him
I have no understanding of why he likes them but they are so very unique especially the ones that are river washed
It's super cool to find someone on RUclips from my neck of the woods. I to live in billings over by the hospitals off 27th st. Super excited to check out all your content and learn more about our amazing rocks from the Yellowstone River. I don't yet have any polishers or rock cutters sadly. But I have found some amazing rocks and I'm excited to start getting all the things to create amazing pieces of art from Montanas natural made beauty
Wow, all your searching has really paid off, I am very impressed
You bring me a little more joy and some friendly envy too!
We just found a huge agate geode but we had to leave it as it was after a 7km walk in and way to heavy to carry out LOL.But we gots lots of fist sized plus chunks out. Great video, I know that excitement.
Good evening Alex where I’m at anyways I just caught your video it’s nice to see you out and about again I probably say that every time I know you’re extremely busy and I’m just happy that you’re out enjoying yourself the babies are going to keep you busy as always and just remember a happy wife happy life so make sure the Mrs. is taken care of first you know that
If you were to uscrew the little knob on the end of the sprayer and adjust it for less spray and more stream of water your finds will clean up much faster.
12:24… I call those Jaspagate. Somewhere between Jasper and agate. This is a very NICE haul!!!💯
Yes, I have heard that term! Thanks for watching!
@@AgateAngler of course! Thank you for posting!
Love your hunts. The scenery is beautiful and calming.
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks I love your channel especially Kip, here’s a small contribution towards the saw.
Thank you Heather! It is much appreciated!
A lot that you picked up looked like they have quartz in them.
Keep rock hunting!!
So many awesome finds! Thanks for sharing
I’m new here. Great video. I’m anxious to watch more. I am a rock freak, so it’s nice to know I’m not the only person who talks to rocks. I love them.
Well if you look through the comments you'll see that you are far from alone. I hope you enjoy looking through some of my videos. Lots more coming out over the next month or so.
I just ran upon this channel and I'm a fanatic when it comes to agate and geode hunting . My friend lives in Garrard County Ky and I was Arrowhead hunting in some tobacco fields and he mentioned rock hunting/Hounding and anyways he took me on my first trip and I can't remember exactly what the ❤ name of the river we were hunting on but I've been hooked ever since . I've been trying to watch these videos to try and educate myself on how to recognize or identity what type of Rocks they are.
Hi Margie, glad you found my channel and enjoy the content. I hope you have fun seeing all the offerings of MT.
Thanks! A nice saw will make for some great videos! Congratulations on 25K!
GWYNN! Thank you so much. I really appreciate the support.
Salutations. It's my first time discovering your channel. I enjoyed very much your rock findings. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! I am glad you enjoyed. I have many many other rock hunts to watch if you are interested.
❤I thought I strange to love rocks but I see that there at lot of people love to look for rocks, awesome ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 love it!! Keep up the good work !!😊❤❤❤❤
Yellowstone River Gems Treasure and Agate Hunt. hunting agate which is phenomenal.
I thought I was weird …. Thank you, I’m not alone; unbelievable finds in Southeastern Massachusetts
Fantastic finds! You’re so lucky. Where I live (BC Canada) I can’t rock hound in my area for agates because the river is so high and won’t go down until the fall :( but I love to watch your videos and your finds! Gets me excited while I wait for our rock hunting season
Wow, sounds like a short season. I hope you get out to hunt soon!
Beautiful thatvone
Don't know much about the rocks I collect but I tend to be attracted to really intense colors or translucent glassy ones.
My advice... Go for the ones that looks bumpy and looks like it coated with concrete... They may have crystals inside.
Glad you finally got a good spray bottle lol. We always want to see you do well.
Haha! Yes, it was much needed. Thanks Mike!
Congratulations on 25000 subs.. LOVE IT!!
You spied many spectacular rocks. The 2nd one looked like a Chinese writing stone. This is such a beautiful and relaxing area, Alex! Thank you so much for sharing. Good luck with the saw. 😁
Interesting! I'll have to look that one up.
STOKED to have spring arrive.. this is always a good day. You need to head to Black Hills, sd and find a tasty Fairburn!
Alex, have you thought about starting a Patreon account? The top tier spots can earn some of the smaller (read: easy to ship) specimens you are comfortable with parting with. You can also open an Etsy store to sell specimens, polished, unpolished. I believe you can do a live feed on RUclips where donations can be given. One idea is to do a live 1 day auction/sale in which viewers can go along with you as you rockhound the Yellowstone for say, a 4 hour block. Each time you find something viewers have the option to buy it from you. I'm sure you could figure out the logistics (such those who buy from you when you show a found item need to add the "time" in the live feed so you can reach out to them to get their shipping address. Brainstorm ideas; I imagine there are many ideas like these ones to help fund your new venture. Good luck and have fun!!!
Justin, I appreciate the ideas. I have thought about some of those before. I have decided not to use a patreon because I don't think I make enough regular content to justify people paying a monthly fee. I like your other ideas though and will keep them in mind. Thank you!
Спасибо,-очень хорошее видио.Так все красиво у Вас!Я бы просто там любовалась чудесной рекой и природой,-хотя агаты и халцедоны-прекрасные!❤
12:30 I have something very similar from Ann Arbor, MI! I was walking a trail at Hudson Mills Metropark, looking for chalcedonies. I love 'em all, lol. Saw a tiny pebble with a glint of blue.
Was no pebble. I dug a palm sized hunk of *something* out of the ground that looks very similar. My best guess for my find is seam agate with the mayrix worn away.
This is my first time watching one of your videos. Do you open your finds up?
edit: I hit play and you said it would be a good one to put on the saw. Lol question answered! Please do I'd love to see inside.
Theo Kellison cut a similar looking one to mine and his turned out to be super blue inside.
They are called Montana Moss Agates, they are called this because of the whitish coat on them, and are mainly found on the Yellowstone. I was born in Glendive, MT and had family as well as friends the worked with them, i also have a number of the but do not have a saw.
When you get hot spray yourself with the spray bottle, as it evaporates and breezes hit you it'll cool you down. Travel size spray bottles are essential to my summers :)
Those are nice finds. I think you overlook many of them (of course there's many rocks). Thinking of using the rock tumbler or a diamond saw later ñ
Wow interesting very nice place it is very pretty plenty of agate their.
Thanks for watching!
I had a piece of petrified wood from montana but i gave it to my granddaughter. It had a bluegret look.
12:30 "it's odd....🤔 it's between agate and jasper" yes Alex I believe these have been named jasp-agates 😉
That rock is so awesome!!! You really found some amazing stuff on this adventure, I love the carnelian! You don't see that many orange/red agates on the Yellowstone. Lucky!
Montana Rock Mom’s spray bottle seems to work the quickest and most efficient, especially for the really caked-on stones. I believe it’s pressurIzed 👍🏽
Alex, Once again some good looking pieces from your river. 👍
If you had a way to wet sections at a time the agates would catch the sunlight and glow making them much easier to see ... possibly throw some bucket fulls of water from the river .. I used to walk the beach and when it rained I always found more good stones ...Just a thought..!
Got some great Rivers and Streams in Nor Cal for Rock Hunting and Gold Panning, Sacramento River, Klamath River, Scott River, American River.
The rock envy I have is enormous 😂
Enjoy watching the videos. Love the finds. Wish I were younger and could do what you do.
Thanks for watching Linda! I am so glad you enjoyed.
Queria muito ir ai...ia revirar todas as rochas...super gostei.
သူကလူတိုင်ကိုသင်ပြနေသလိုဘဲ
Hey, just found your channel and we're stoked!! We have a rock hunting trip coming up next week in deep south Texas. And anyone that kayaks to his hunting location is alright in my book! Would love to see some cutting vids too!! So a few more bucks coming your way. for the saw fund.. and congrats on 25 K!!!! Daaaaang you're doing well!! Awesome to see!!!
I have found bubblegum and Fairborn agates in the badlands of SD.
I was walking the creek bed at sage creek campground and saw lots of fossils there. Clams and a turtle. buffalo teeth at 6’ depth. It’s cool. It’s a national park so you have to leave what you see. Photos are best if you can. The buffalo roam free there and I’ve had them walk up to me so just stay still and calm. That will keep you alive. I’ve woke up there to buffalo outside my tent. 4’ away. It’s a great place to visit and return again. There is a small town close by to get supplies. It’s called scenic. The campground is rural. Only toilets. Usually has few people there. No phone service. No electric. Deer and buffalo are the natives.
My girl found a clam shell that had color in the shell. Rainbow. She put it back.
Congratulations on almost 400K for this video. I'm curious what the algorithm saw in it that made it so popular? Great job, keep up the good work. 👍
Somewhere between 7:12 and 7:15 something white whizzes by on the right side of your head, behind you and disappears...... weird. Found some beautiful agate, and that carnelian was fabulous 😍
Wow it is beautiful stone collection.
I just found your channel. I love the resolution of the video it lets me stop it and look at all the cool rocks!
Congratulations on the 25,000 subscribers. Pretty finds. Glad to see you. Miss seeing the family.
I’m of the same DNA…always picking up rocks 😍
What are you doing with your agates? Are you making something with them. Throwing them in the yard. I am curious.
The Big conglomerate rock is a fossilize snake head!! You can see it’s wee beady little eyes!
That big yellow carnelian looked vaguely like frog, I bet it could be carved into one semi easily 🤩
Awesome finds. Do you sell any of your finds or work? Like cut and/or polished finds? I would love to get some if you do. Just love Montana rocks and I ONLY buy from the channels I watch and trust.
Love your channel and seeing all your hunts.
Congrats on meeting such a major milestone of 25K. You are now at 26.8K.
Yeah, this video really took off which helped a lot. Thanks for watching
Metamorphic Agate is how I would describe that large, unique agate midway through.
Thanks!
First DONATION! Thanks Joseph
what a pleasure it was to see your site pop up here on RUclips I should say video haha I wish my dad were still alive he was one huge Rock Hunter we live in the Southern California desert Mojave Desert it's amazing how many of the same exact rocks we have in common with the ones that you found. congratulations on your 25,000 subscribers! this video I know is about 7 months ago I hope you reached your goal to get your rocks saw? I inherited a small wet dry Rock and tile saw from my brother also a desert rockhound as well as I am and I cut open a hand size rock my father gave to my kids when they were little about 20 years ago and it turned into the most beautiful purple amethyst geode I've ever seen! I wish my dad were there to see that one too!! he knew it was a geode when he gave it to my boys the rock saw itself is smallish maybe 18 in but weighs a ton but it does get the job done! I will continue watching more of your videos to see what you do with agate since we have an abundance of that here in the desert as well as petrified wood and petrified Palm good luck buddy stay cool I think it gets a lot hotter here than it does where you're at hah
Hi, I always enjoy hearing from other rockhounds. Sounds like you and your Dad would enjoy a trip to MT. And yes, the Rock Saw has been funded (See Recent Videos). Good Hunting and thanks for watching!
@12:06 IT LOOKS LIKE A PETRIFIED HEART !!!! I WOULD SEND THIS TO THE PROFESSOR, AT MUDFOSSILL UNIVERSITY, HE'S ON RUclips, AS MUDFOSSILL UNIVERSITY. GOOD FIND !!!!!
SO GOOD WORK ME TOO ALWOYS PIC UP MORE PICKS OF AGAET AND HAD FIND VERY CLEAR PICKS .
I think probably that you won't believe me.... but you are picking up petrified mushrooms either in one piece or there are two pieces. The longer skinnier one's are the stem, and the rounder one's are the cap, and you can see where the stem would fit. If you look closely you can see the gills on the underside of the cap. If you find a whole mushroom, it's good luck. If you find a cap, look around close by, and you'll find the stem that matches the cap. Believe me or not, I've got a beautiful collection of petrified mushrooms and most of them stand up either upright or upside-down.
That blue crystal in 11.14 is lavender or blue calsedony
I am new to rockhounding and I live in Texas. I make sun catchers and I wanted to make some with sea glass and seashells because we are close to the water. Well I decided to start making my own sea glass. After reading up on it, I decided to jump in with both feet! I got a tumbler and started making the glass. After that I decided to go looking for rocks and crystals. Well I soon became very disappointed because I live in Victoria and there absolutely no places to go mining or rockhounding for at least 100 miles. Somebody asked me if I tried Pebble Beach. It’s actually the Guadalupe river with a gravel bar in our huge park. So I get there and realize this place is HEAVEN!!!! It looks just like this one that your at! I get down there and quickly realize I am so under-prepared for what I was gonna do. All I came with was a plastic bag🤣🤣🤣This place has soooooo many Agates, Jasper, petrified wood, Pudding stone. I have been there three times so far and I could not believe what I found there!! I found a rock with silver around it, Pink Jade and so much Agate/Jasper mix. This is turning into a huge habit because now I need a rock saw, drill stand for my Dremel, table stone polisher and another tumbler🤦♀️🤣🤣🤣I’m so addicted to this! I’ve started reviewing our towns mineral reports. I can’t believe I have found a hobby that’s like therapy😁
Oh and I still haven’t made my sun-catchers because of the rockhounding obsession!!
You should start a Patreon account if you don’t have one already. Most of the channels I subscribe to all have Patreon. Btw I was just there a couple weeks ago and it was HOT and BUGGY! Brutal for hounding but we still had a great time and found some amazing specimens. I would love to send you a picture of this one agate my husband found….it’s massive.
Yes it has been both Hot and Buggy as you say, but the hunting has been INSANE! I've considered a Patreon, but not sure if I have enough to offer to justify that. Please email me a picture - agateangler@gmail.com
If you’re ever wondering if you’re holding a piece of petrified wood, or if it’s a sedimentary sandstone with an inclusion. Cut the end of it and check for rings. Polish it and you’ll see it even clearer. Usually petrified wood has agate, or Amber’s and such inclusive.
make a sphere out of the piece at 12:00! i have a very handsome and fascinating one. it’s jasper-y agate, same colors similar size.

The one you found at 15:14 is very plausibly a toasted marshmallow that just wanted to live a different life as an agate. Probably to avoid getting eaten.
