I would love to see you guys do something like this every two weeks or so. Just making something with some interesting shapes that you've not done before and simply a project you can complete in a day
Agreed, something to break up the process of longer projects. Kinda like Adam Savages "One Day Builds" on Tested, but for forging. Or even Alec and Wills other ventures in clothing, etc.
I know it's being said a ton of times in the comments, but I have to chorus it... I love the little laid back projects like this. More like the old shop videos. It's why I subbed in the first place. Not that I don't love the crazy weapons builds, but these are great. Helps beginner smiths like myself see other great techniques and such.
Alec, love what you are doing when you showcase every part of your field to people who may not be aware of the beautiful works of art that you create, from the blades to the tools, to these awesome moments of creativity that make us smile from seeing your clever creations. Thank you for all the time you put in to putting a smile on people's faces.
I can imagine her co workers. You ok seem bruised up. Oh walked into the bed again. Um what.. Oh my husband build a steel bed frame. Ok yea steel? He must be loaded.
A water feature is a nice idea. That being said, There is a practical application of having an open water feature in a shop like this. In the event of a fire-related incident, having something with perpetually flowing water and a large open area to submerge something the size of a human limb may be practical. Perhaps a baking soda fountain in the corner would be a good idea in case there is an acid etching related incident.
Aw yeah! So satisfying to watch you do some good old blacksmithing again! Great editing Jamie! Great job Alec! That just transported me all the way back to Barker St. Just fantastic!
That first song made me so relaxed haha! Have to admit, it’s nice to have some traditional forging back on the channel every now and then. Great video Alec!
As much as I love the multiple episode projects you and Will do, I really enjoy the one show job episodes too. Thank you Alec, and keep up the good work.
Little projects like this are super cool. It's one of the reasons I want to try my hand at blacksmithing. I love all the swords and knives, but it's nice to see something out of the ordinary.
I'd love to see some cold fold mold forming. I beleaf it'd be a cool branch of forging. It'd help you grow your skills yet you'd still stick to your roots.
I really like these shorter "interstitial" videos. Watching you go through it, I had a thought. When making layered things (i.e. the petals) maybe make the inner layers progressively shorter so they end result is a mostly even top. Loved the video keep up the great work.
Honestly, I love the complex and big projects. With that said, these are my favorite videos, basic or atleast less complex projects that have a nice flair to them. Kinda relaxing to watch.
This video harkens back a bit to the older videos and I love the labor of love videos you've made, i.e. your wedding bands and the engagement ring you made. The tulip looks awesome!
good to see you getting back to your old blacksmithing ways you should do it more regularly. I love the grand projects but I miss these small chilled out blacksmithing vids.
Her: "You going to be in the workshop all day or are you going to go get me some flowers?" Alec: "Yes." Really though, kinda makes a box of chocolates seem rather lame lol.
No he never uses it. Except that one part on every project that he uses it. But he wont admit that lol. He did bring it all the way from the UK to never use
This is really cool! And that’s coming from a gardener! The leaves were more like a day lily but hell, they’re forged out of steel, so that’s pretty good as far as I’m concerned!
delighted to see more sculptural work again after all this time. I find it fascinating how you work out the puzzle of moving the steel into such unusual shapes. MORE PLEASE :)
"When I looked at the drawing..." Wait, why didn't you just go get a real tulip for a reference? Haha, maybe that was part of the challenge you set for yourself?
This has quickly become one of my favorite channels. Super knowledgeable and skilled guy while also being very entertaining while ALSO being shot/filmed really really well. Good music choices, they know when to do montages and when to show the whole thing, great stuff.
I love videos like this, its refreshing! I can tell your thoroughly enjoying yourself during these little builds where there isn't so much pressure to get something absolutely perfect. Definitely enjoy seeing these, they also let us viewers see more brainstorming and the use of different techniques and tools that dont apply to typical knife or sword builds! Keep it up! I absolutely love this channel!
I have been working on making metal roses for my high school metals class and it is honestly some of the most relaxing and fun things to work on and I didn't want to stop but we had to move on to another project.
Way late to things but, since I'm in the middle of writing a story about a blacksmith who's crushing on a florist and confesses his love by making a bouquet of metal flowers, this video has been really informative! So thank you for making/sharing it!
I would love to see you guys do something like this every two weeks or so. Just making something with some interesting shapes that you've not done before and simply a project you can complete in a day
Hey guys, coreross (is) here.
Same same!!! Please!!!
"Forging Friday"
Hello coreross, I agree with this. Side note, how do you feel about the new season pass “rules” for siege.
Agreed, something to break up the process of longer projects. Kinda like Adam Savages "One Day Builds" on Tested, but for forging. Or even Alec and Wills other ventures in clothing, etc.

Been a while since I've heard Alec say "this is going quite well" lol
Hahahahaha
That’s really freaky, I literally opened the comments whilst watching and read your quote as Alec said it! 😳

Really loved this more chill forging video than the normal chaos that normally goes in workshop.
Good change of pace!
The music also sets another pace. I usually turn down the sound, because it is stressing. This music is pleasant.
Reminds me of the jamie days
@@mattycreek384 Jamie still works for them and edits the videos
fadeAway good to know!
I cannot BELIEVE you missed the opportunity to say “it’s time to put the petal to the metal”
Nice one bud
"Metal to the petal" would have been fun as well
Sometimes the bulb doesn't go on when it should, knowwhatimean...!
He didn’t heart 🙁
Ok.. I dig it
Please do more sculpture type projects like this. I love sword/knife videos but this is so unlike anything I’ve seen and now I need more!!
As someone who has been a fan (almost) from the beginning this was a great throw back type video to the beginnings of the channel. Thank you for this.
Yea- forge 100 leaves to hone your skills, now flowers :)
Beautiful! Would love to see more sculpture work like this in the future.
Hey honey - you know how you love breaking your shins on the bed every morning. Well I made you this 80lb tulip to break all your desks and tables.
MJF My phone is broken so I can’t click the like button but my god this is great I laughed so hard
I can imagine her co workers. You ok seem bruised up. Oh walked into the bed again. Um what.. Oh my husband build a steel bed frame. Ok yea steel? He must be loaded.
Pniko, Something tells me, if she formalizes her new last name, this will NOT be a surprise to anyone she knows.
Miss the old shop when watching this kind of project, this montana workshop definitely need a water feature on its corner, please consider this 😂🙏

@@NoobNoobNews I think the OP is referring to Alec's old shipping container shop with a hole in the corner, and it leaked whenever it rained.
@@turpinator RIP Chef Mike and the Barker Street Forge
The way you control all that spatial complexity, make it clear you're more than a great craftsman....you're an ARTIST!

This is such a relaxing video. Between the music and the content this is a video I can fall asleep to I love it
That first song made me so relaxed haha! Have to admit, it’s nice to have some traditional forging back on the channel every now and then. Great video Alec!
Lovely project, Out-of-this-world thumbnail.
This is what Alec does while Will is handsanding.
Thank you Will for doing the grunt work for us to get more content.
As much as I love the multiple episode projects you and Will do, I really enjoy the one show job episodes too. Thank you Alec, and keep up the good work.
With that Acoustic track going, that baby power hammer sounds like a Ye Oldé Tractor. Close your eyes and just, imagine....
Fantastic Tulip !!!!!!!! Also have a Happy Valentine's Day , guys !!!!!!!!!!
Its videos like this that make me remember how skilled alec really is at forging.
So nice to see a one video blacksmithing project, like the old days. 👍
My best friend and brother makes roses using copper or steel. All recycled materials.
Do they sell them?
Nice idea
andres marquez Yes, he does.
@@AttackGypsy I do the same
I always enjoy videos with hand forging and new techniques. Congratulations on 2 million subscribers!
Would like this video for just the music change up, keep up the great work and happy Valentine's Day everyone!
OMG that flower looked so pretty while it was glowing hot from torching. Very nice!
Absolutely wonderful. Great job sir. I'm sure the Mrs. loves it. Perfect gift for today.
This is a lovely “old school” Alec video. Love all your videos but it is always refreshing to see you hammering by hand.
Miss this part of your channel so much ! Loved watching you forge when you were in the UK ..

you made my day better Alec but then you always do keep up the good work and have a good valentines day
Ahhh the infamous swage block he ‘never’ uses, comes in handy once again!
Absolutely amazing to see how skilled you have become and how smooth your work flow is.
This is exactly why I subscribed years ago. Do more of this please.
Honestly, I love the complex and big projects. With that said, these are my favorite videos, basic or atleast less complex projects that have a nice flair to them. Kinda relaxing to watch.
This seems like a good opportunity to learn some enamelling on those petals
this is a great project, I made a Rose for my fiance's birthday one year. she loved it and I had good fun making it.
Mate that looks fantastic! I’ve made a heap of roses with beer cans and barbed wire... no forging though haha. Well done!
Kudos to your cameraman and video editor! Really great work!
This reminds me of when I first started watch Alec.
Exactly.
This video harkens back a bit to the older videos and I love the labor of love videos you've made, i.e. your wedding bands and the engagement ring you made. The tulip looks awesome!
I'm sad we didn't get to see the moment when Alec gives this tulip to Will.
stilllife8 guessing you don’t know he’s married. She is quite cute when she was briefly on camera.

The Tulip Series! A 20 part video set... oh, It's over. OK then.

Happy to see some forging basics again. more often, please.
Next Year: Making a gold inlay damascus rose.

"Steel Tulip" sounds like a band name
Oh. That does sound good.
sounds like a country rock hybrid band
Or the name of a Judas Priest song
It is the name of OG's 80s hair metal band :P
Steele Tulip*
Come on now, fam!

Honestly the shot of you and Will together at 10:03 is the most romantic part of this video
With all that hard work you put into that tulip. I hope Mrs, Steele likes it
10:03 the most Bromantic of Valentines shots!
Random tulip fact, the petals are edible and taste a bit like lettuce combined with cucumber.😁(not this one though, they'd taste like nails😂)
LOVE the back to pure forging feel of this video!! Excellent work Alex!
Ladies and gentlemen, so I have stopped working on my sword that can cleave several heads at once and I'll be making a... tulip.
One has to please his lady and I guess she isn't that much into several severed heads :P
Thoroughly impressive as your current work across multiple disciplines is I'm a sucker for that old school blacksmithery
More please!
one of my favorites for little while, less yak yak more wack wack.
These are the type of vids I miss by Alec. back when it was simple and almost like forging school
Love how ya say tulip... toolip😂😂

Stop making sodding medieval weapons all the time and do more like this style of video! This was cracking! + love the jazz
The flow and free form. A great escape from step lock, by the measurement in your sword craft. Well done, I hope she appreciated it...
You sound more British today
Because he's doing something romantic.
Watching you guys create stuff always calms me down after a stressful night at work.
Thank you, keep it up !

Nice change of pace in this video, it was super relaxing with all the calm music
Nicely done, and that was so soothing to watch, I'm with the others that say you should do a one episode project every once in a while.
I have to admit that at the end of every episode I always leave feeling impressed by your skill.
Keep up the good work!
Much more entertaining, interesting, and educational than another bladed weapon. Need more of this.
I am making a knife for my valentine, It will be my first ever knife. I am 15 and I started bladesmithing because of your videos, Thank you.
A low hijinks video for a change!
This was a great project and watch. Thanks Alec and crew.
