- Freewell is releasing the world's first swappable, magnetic, variable and highly customizable filter system!
You get a LOT of filter options in this one package starting with a 2-5 stop variable ND and a 6-9 stop variable ND filter both of which can be switched in seconds since they are magnetic but the also still have hard stops! You can take out the ND base and use the 2-5 stop or the 6-9 stop as a Circular Polarized filter and a ND32 circular polarizing filter respectively. You can also put in a mist VND base that by itself will give you lots of halation and combine it with the VND filters to have a mist VND filter as well. All this can be swapped and configured on your camera in seconds thanks to the easy quick swap magnetic system.

This is great Jake. Freewell did good on this . 👍thanks
yes they did!!
Watched this video on my Oled tv and it looked amazing. Thanks for showing us this product.
Oh thats awesome
I need to go hiking with you Jake. I finally getting around doing some hikes here in Anchorage. I even just went from Denali which was amazing!
NICE!!!
Jake,
Great Video, and Great Information!! Thank You!!
you're welcome
Great review. Thanks for the info Jake
Thanks TJ!
This is a cool idea. Seems they sent them to everyone but me. All the videos hit at once on you tube
No kidding lol I woke up and my sub feed was all filters
Whenever the flood of new reviews hits, I come here.
No one else tests stuff while hanging out a plane window or traversing rough terrain.
WOW thank you so much!!
Lol of course they put that out now. I just picked up their 2-5 & 6-9 a month ago.
Lol of course… I still use my screw on NDs 90% of the time
SAME here, pff. Im mainly considering the new ones not so for the magnets but another reviewer (only one) claimed there is no flaring anymore although in his video the Mist was kind of non existent while here it looks like the filter is sweaty and foggy, not "misty"..... Totally confusing when everyone review same product with major difference like... wtf!
Fan of this channel :) me 😃
thank you!
Does this work on micro 4/3? And what is the minimum focal length with out X / vignetting?
yes it will! I tested on 17mm and had no issue
Thanks for the review! I am getting a leica 12-60mm (58mm for the filters I think). Which filter diameter do you think I should get please? (with a step up ring I think). Thank you
I would get a 72mm with a step up ring
@@JakeSloan thank you! I am considering the 72mm indeed :) do you think a 77mm would be a problem though?
! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Magnet system is good but during hiking activity I incidentally dropped one of the lens. Now my set of magnetic VNDs capability dropped to 50%. I have tried to find separate lens on the market but not successful. Full set of MVNDS costs 400$. Guys take in to consideration this Info. Now I preferer to use threaded VNDs only ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
That’s the biggest downside of magnetic filters
Why isn't freewell se nding me a set to try out?
you'd have to ask them
@@JakeSloan where do I do it?
I order them a month ago still waiting
They should be shipping soon
So the X issue appears only @16 mm or wider?
the x issue appears depending on how large the filter is compared to how wide the lens is. to avoid the x issue you need a larger filter diameter the wider you go
Can I buy it from India? I like it
yes Freewell ships directly to you I believe
Great filter and glass but I can say for certain it's not a matter of if but when the magnet will wear out. I have 2 that did within a 18 months. Run for you life from magnet cap filters. Freewell well will put yo though the ringer and then tell you sorry Charlie. Never again will I buy Freewell.
Strange I’ve been using the same freewell filters (these and others) for year with out any issue
@@JakeSloan Wells that's the problem. Some good some bad. A while back when this was happening there were many people like me crying the same tune. The problem is Freewell does not want to hear about it when a magnet fails. I begged them to let me send it back to inspect it but they would not allow. So good yours are ok. It is the inherent nature of a magnet to loose it's power after awhile. You'll eventually see that. Thanks,
