Ronbus Ripple R1.14 Pickleball Paddle Review by Famous By Friday Pickleball #ronbus (Use code RCLCGL11 for $20.00 off your next Ronbus Paddle Purchase)
Another paddle where you need to modify swing mechanics…..I suppose if you’re all in on a paddle, with the expectation to use it for a year or whatever, that’s fine. But I feel like with so many of these paddles, we constantly hear, “it takes time to adjust”. I played with the exact same tennis racket model for 10 years. Once I got my game to an elite level, I didn’t want to touch another racket. My take is if you’re a high level pickleball player, and you have the swing mechanics and ability to “fairly easily” modify your game for when new ground breaking paddles come out, then go for it. But if you’re a beginner, stop chasing the new tech and focus on honing your skills on a gen 2 thermo paddle that’s middle of the road in power and control. Otherwise, the constant chasing of paddles will never allow you to become consistent with your mechanics.
Agreed,I played squash for 20 years trying different racquets. HEAD had a racquet that was perfect for me, and I played and stayed with that model. Now if HEAD can come up with a PB paddle that I like. Oh,I'd return to playing squash in a heartbeat if our local courts ever reopen.
Well said. I tell people the best paddle is the one you play with and have adjusted to. Forget always buying the latest and greatest because you will just have to start the whole process over again of getting used to the new characteristics of the new paddle. When I picked up tennis when young I played with an old worn out wooden racket that was as floppy as a wet noodle. I played with it until it busted and could beat other people with the latest and greatest racket technology. It's 90% the person and 10% equipment.
I’ve been playing the R2 ripple for a week and it’s not for everyone. It’s very bouncy and it feels like tennis strings to me. I would not play a tournament with it yet, but when I switch back to my Ruby after time with the ripple I am dialed in big time. Your technique needs to be spot on or you’ll be spraying the fences.
Check with who you got to take the x-rays to confirm; the black and white is a spectrum of density. So it is the same color as foam so it should be more foam in the “cavity”, the white is likely structure perpendicular to the layup. I’ll guess something stiff like carbon fiber since they need it to pass stiffness testing. Smart to get different angles. The ripples are a feature/bug of the difference in resistance to compression while manufacturing the paddle when the put the layers together I think.
Love the review! I've been lucky enough to get both an R1 and R2 from the Ronbus Connect Beta program. After playing with both I am in love with the R1.

yes it does have more power and pop than the Bantam's. I would say it sits just below the Mod-TAs and more power/pop than the Bantams (and the new Joola 3s). It has more control than the Mod-TAs and the 12.7MM than the Bantams. The R1 is a wonderful paddle.
Ripple spin RPM rating is lower than of joola Magnus gen 3 14mm . Can you confirm the same is true in your tests so the ability to generate spin is inferior?
Spin is largely mechanics. I definitely wouldn’t get hung up on spin numbers. Literally any of the paddles right now generate ample amounts of spin, and if anyone says otherwise, the first thing they should do is take a lesson vs. buy another paddle….
@@yasim943578 rpm inferior. From John Kew: 2425 rpm Magnus vs 2343 rpm ripple r1.14. The Magnus is a delisted paddle. The tournament legal versions of the joola are now the 3s and mod ta paddle which are both inferior to the Ripples' rpm ratings.
Ronbus has used carbon edge technology which is a breathable carbon fiber grid along the edge so internal pressure can be released through this grid during the thermoforming process to relieve pressure on the core so it’s not compromised thus preventing core crushing. They started this with the Nova series and the Ripple also has this technology.
I've gone thru 4 perseus 3s. All started to rattle after the first day of play. Hell, one paddle was out of the bubble wrap had a rattle. Wtf is going on with quality control? Going back for another warranty, im going to give the paddle one last chance the ripple is on my radar is the 3s fails again. Don't get me wrong the 3s plays very nice durability I dunno

Looking forward to the Ripple R2 review
Great reviews, keep uploading vids !

Have tried Joola gen3 like Magnus 14mm ? Is Ripple equally spin capable ?
Never tried the Joola, but the ripple has excellent spin.

Explain why the R1 over the R2?
What’s Ronbus connect beta program?

Does it have more power than the diadem vice?
Another great content and review of the Ronbus Ripple 1, is the Ripple 1 has more power and pop than the Bantams TKO-C/CX 12.7mm and the 14.3mm

A month has gone by, have you heard anything about release date? Thanks
Is this paddle legal?
Thanks for the video. What's that folding target basket thing in the video?
I have the same perimeter weighting setup on my R1.
This paddle or the new Paddletek Bantam ESQ (either 12.7 or 14.3) if you had to choose one?
I’m using a hush ripple would be very loud!
Is the r1 an elongated or hybrid shape?
Technically its Elongated -- its 16.5" long -- its Aero shape but its elongated

@@NOT_A_TOP_FANit is not a question if it generates ample RPM, but rather if it’s same or lower than Magnus Gen 3 14mm

You think this paddle will last longer than the joola 3s? Will the core fracture? Willing to buy if i can get 6 months out of it

@@samuraistabber would it be possible to get a year out of it? Or are you saying it will basically last forever?
@@Everheartt what paddle lasts forever? Pretty sure the face material will degrade after a while.
yes, I promise. yoola's are 4mos. max., built to core crush - for pro's or rich people

Don’t know why we get reviews for paddles we can’t even buy.
Exactly big tease
So it had less power than Mod Ta-15?
just slightly and I do mean slightly -- almost imperceptible.
@@tagman12 so which one you like better?
@@Amordil I prefer the Ripple. The control on the ripple is better than the Mod.
Patents are expensive. Material patents, usage patents, different countries have different patent laws and fees. Is the face "peel ply"?
yes it is RCF peel ply.
Price will be $250
More foam
Is your lens, smeared or fogged? Video looks like it.
The indoor lighting is very hazy and no definition on what you’re trying to show.
PaddleTek baby...PaddleTek!
First - And thanks for the early review
Please skip showing the play time, maybe 30 seconds would be OK. I always skip the play sessions.
Thanks for your vids.
Personally, I like it. Nothing fast forward can't cure. That said, higher film quality wouldn't hurt.
Lol
These gen3 paddles should be banned. In the meantime have to keep up with arms race and buy one 😂.
