Lake Chautauqua May 2024

Hi Everyone,
Just got home from a 3 day outing to Lake Chautauqua NY. We had a little bit of everything from the weather department. Cool temperatures, heat, wind, cloud cover and rain that took 3 hours of fishing time away from us on day 2.
Everyone caught fish of 3 lbs or better. Brian got a largemouth bass that weighed 4 lbs 13 oz near the end of day 2. He also caught a muskie that was 40" long and weighed 10 lbs 12 oz. It was a beast. Jim & Brian both caught smallmouth bass. Tom & I did not. This was my second trip to that lake and I still have not caught any smallmouth bass in there. The different species caught were rock bass, crappie, largemouth, smallmouth, perch and muskie.
We ate well, had some laughs and caught lots of fish. We ended up with somewhere between 185 - 200 fish. Not a bad haul.

I have never caught a muskie or smallmouth. Other people in my party have but my catches have been largemouth bass, rock bass crappie, sunfish and one walleye.
