Wow, finally some recognition that short arms, thick limbs, and a long torso make some asanas and transitions harder or plain unavailable! It has been my experience that many yoga instructors can't teach outside of their own body experience, or seem unwilling to model modifications for their students. "Just modify as needed, it's OK" is insufficient without modeling those adaptations.

I love the work of Paul Grilley for this!! Inspirational.

@@RachelScottYoga, thank you for your reply. I was introduced to Paul's work through Dr. Katrina Smith. I have come to an understanding regarding my skeletal variation and its limitations. My challenge is that so many Yoga instructors are either passively dismissive of my limitations or just perplexed because their bodies work differently from my own. (This is not exclusively a Yoga problem as I ran into the same issue in my martial arts journey too)

Great Joy, keep us posted how it goes! This is one of those transitions that may change incrementally over the course of a few years (rather than a few weeks) - if you ever get frustrated, put your hands on blocks and enjoy the freedom!
