- In this video I show you how to install a good quality yet inexpensive Kitchen Cabinet LED Light Kit sold by Amazon for around $19.00. I installed it without making any modifications to the LED strip. It is a 16.4 ft spoil with 300 LEDs and worked perfectly for underneath my kitchen cabinets. The motion detector is also a daylight detector and won't come on during daylight hours to save energy.
I am not a professional, just a DIYer. This kit has a great look for a low price!

Hi I m from PAKISTAN your video is Awesome 💯💯💯
Really like the idea of covering the unwanted lights with Black Electrical tape vs cutting the strip. Very basic yet very good idea.Thank you very much for sharing.
Brilliant! My DIY confidence for duplication of this has increased.
Great job. Will definitely look into these.
Nice addition to your kitchen.
Nice kitchen! Looks good
Nice job!
Thats doooope!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, love this video and I am going to do this in my new house, too. Is it possible to have these lights on at the same time your main lights are on? I am thinking sometimes it would be nice to have both. Thanks for sharing, keep adding the great content.
Great video I'd love to do this but I don't have an outlet that's hidden mine are under the cabinets and I wouldn't know how to conceal the plug wire that would start them but I so wish I could do this it's beautiful and a great price!
Order a set already can't wait to do this
Hello from New York City! Are the lights dimmable too? Is it possible to control the brightness of the lights? Thank you for informative. video.
Did you use a splitter for the outlet to power both microwave and led lights?
The color of camera man's phone pouch is red, mounted on a selfie stick. Nice video, very helpful. Here in Nigeria we usually connect the light to a kind of small transformer to prevent it from damage, is it unnecessary for this type of led light?
Maybe you don’t realize this but you know you can cut the LED strip in the marked areas?
Each section where you have the exposed copper can be cut and a wire soldered on to carry to the next strip instead of tape.
If you didn’t want to go through the process of cutting and soldering, then at least at the end of the strip where you tapped it off, I noticed the corner lined up perfectly with the cut-able section so you could have easily just cut it off without doing any harm to the LED strip.
Please take this as constructive criticism and nothing more :)
I’ve been messing with these LEDs for many years now and have gone through a bunch of trial and error.
Good luck!
I was going to leave a similar comment to yours.
He does seem pretty adamant to not cutting or splicing the strip but happy to cut the cabinets to go around the corner. So he has his reasoning.
Anyway… to someone else wanting to do a similar job I would not cover with black tape as this will probably shorten the lifespan of the strip due to heat buildup. Not saying it will burn your house down or anything like that. But there are other ways. And Why pay the the extra cents to energize the LED just to hide them with tape.
Just a thought.
You can also get easy to use splicers and avoid soldering.
@@c.davidmiles6145 That is true - personally, I am not a huge fan of them as they dont seem to always make the best contact in my experience.
But yes - they are great alternative if you want to avoid soldering.
@A I want to do this as well but have a question about splicing. Can I splice the wire I use to carry on the LED strip to make a splitter to go to 2 different sections for example to run it to the top of cabinets and bottom as well? Hopefully my question is understood lol
@@gilrodriguez1981 Hello - yes you can absolutely do that!
If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to add LED strip to the top and the bottom of your cabinets using the same wire that is soldered directly to the wire and splicing that wire to carry it to another LED strip.
I do this for running LEDs under my Stairs. I use a single wire from the bottom to the top of the stairs and then insert a splice at each step to solder onto an LED strip.
If you need 150 feet of LED strips, can you connect them to one power controller?
I have cats who roam the house all night.....will this be picking up their motion or does it have a certain range level
What if you don't to use the motion sensor part of it, can you turn that off all together??
Yes, but you would have to either plug and unplug the lights each time or add a switch.
✌✌👍
I think covering lights with black electricians tape is a bad idea... the LED's build up heat and could melt the tape or worse start a fire...
Not cutting the strip is ridiculous
