Whether or not this guy is up his own ass is irrelevant. He is the ONLY person who followed the directive to run. He ran. If everyone else ran when the call to run was made, nobody would have died, and they would have been right on his tail. Instead, they said "run", and then 10s later they decided to fight. I've been leading one of the most successful FFA loot/full loot pvp mmorpg guilds around since the 1990s. Our success in UO, AC:DT, Darkfall and other games is pretty much entirely predicated on teamwork. I would have run as fast as I fucking could away from that group.
This has nothing to do with being bad, but this does not require a rank 1 mage. It requires a 50 IQ mentally slow mage the press rank 1 blizzard and rank 1 nova. PiRAT did not try one thing to help his group, narcissist.

1 or 2 spells would not have saved them not even before the druid pulled the last pack by not looking where he was going. If you watch the clip you will see that the druid gets a frost bolt on him from behind... This means he has aggro on the ogre pack, Is that also pirates fault? Is it pirates fault that the tank keeps tanking in the path of bosses? I agree he could have tired, But it would not have mattered in the end. Also the shot caller is the most at fault here. if the shot caller is second guessing himself he is to blame for bad plays.

Pirate wanted his group to die. The guy has a massive ego, he was already annoyed with them and wanted to "punish" them for the bad pull, you can see the smirk on his face, he loved the godlike feeling of having the chance to save them but deciding not to. Mistakes happen. He didnt do a mistake, he misplayed intentionally. I would NEVER group with someone that unreliable

I saw a clip of their first run, he ass pulled some mobs on the ramp and was the first to start running, the entire time he was shaking his head like the others messed up. Then in the main clip, Pikaboo was speculating that Pirate got triggered that Yamato called him out for "walking" away. I can kind of believe it because you see him stop and turn around and try to justify why he's roaching out. I don't know the details but apparently they weren't on good terms. Would be hilarious if his reason for completely roaching out was because Yamato said something.
He hovers over his mana ruby too btw, he then doesn't use it and uses the mana he has leftover to proc cloak with a smile on his face. He's not just being arrogant, he's actively sabotaging them. Guy is so petty
What a shit way to handle the situation and the critique. Ive saved countless groups with a rank 1 frost nova. You can be completely oom and just wait for one tick of mana to cast it. Literally!
Judging by the decision making and performance of this group, I think this has more to do with the guy just not being confident in the group to not get him killed. So when the call to run was made, he committed. Then the guy running the group decided to stand and fight, after he said run. You can't say "run", and then not run, and then blame the guy who listened to you, because you lost contact with him. If you do that, you're bad at video games.
@mercb3ast I've played mage enough to know when it's safe to cast a frost nova and I know pirate has too. That was very safe cause all mobs are in a line going towards tank. You run up a bit parallel to the mobs rooting 80-100 %of the mobs. No heal needed. Healing there can be risky cause mobs can switch targets. Pirate paniced and did not live up to his self-proclaimed skills. All that, as said, could be water under the bridge. But the zero accountability attitude man. Pirate talk a lot about life stuff and about striving to be a person of integrity etc. He does not live how he preach, that's for sure.

You don't use that much modulation to hide your real voice without having a seriously fragile ego. the "i have no mana" with the mana gem up, the robe, and then shielding himself to drop the mana again to zero on purpose is what just did my brain in..... also, while running back he used a max rank blizzard, one tick, canceled it, it didnt even do anything just drop his mana, he had about 30% when the pull went wrong. a 30% mana mage with a gem.... yeah I can honestly say, i would even consider kicking him from the giuld if i was soda, at this point he is more of a hazard.

The clip of the 1st run almost bothers me more, pirate asspulls the pack above them, and instantly jumps off the ramp and blinks toward the exit while quietly saying "everything is pulled" instead of going "shit guys i asspulled everyone run gogogo!!" i dont think he was capable of taking responsibility for that asspull, so he just acts like someone else did it, he could have atleast sheeped one of the ogres that he pulled

If I played mage I would be the last person to get out of the dungeon. Mages have so much utility it’s crazy and their rank 1 abilities hardly cost any mana too. I don’t even main mage or co main mage and I’d say hey guys run I’ll frost nova and blizzard the adds just heal the tank everyone else run and near the end once everyone’s out I’d pop mana potion or gem if needed and blink out. Simple as 🤷♂️ and if I didn’t execute it right I’d say sorry guys I couldnt effectively get you guys out that’s my bad.

We kicked some ass , and we got to live.” I’ve made it all the way to 60 now without dying because of that-because we didn’t give up!!!

It's bad leadership. Be decisive and stick to your guns, even if there is a better decision. Singular purpose is better than faffing about "do we run or do we not run". The group leader made the right call. He got people killed when he decided to stop running briefly and try and re-engage. Could this guy have done more? Sure, but it's not his responsibility to save bads from their own mistakes. Especially in a high stakes situation like this, where they have been shitting it up all day.

Being a noob myself if i was in this situation i wouldve probably done something similar. At the point that someone calls run im fuggin gone because im assuming "run" means everyone else is running behind me with a big trail of death behind them. That being said the reaction afterwards is all on Pirate. Like not even breaking down what happened from his point of view and hiding behind "im the enchanter" just makes things look worse for him.
"Whenever someone dies you need to look inward and ask "what could I have done better" Sure this sounds nice. But that's as far as it goes. It's unrealistic and unhelpful to try and distribute accountability this way. Realistically you need to look at what took place to create the situation in the first place, not try and share it evenly. The entire raid party wasn't accountable for Leeroy Jenkins. This is an absurd approach that's centered entirely around protecting egos and not around distributing accountability. Nothing Pirate did created the situation, and everyone has offered "what ifs" for things he might have done that were more likely to fail than succeed. It was not salvageable. There was a formal call to run with no formal call to stay and fight until after he had blinked away. The call to come back GOT THE HEALER KILLED. There's no real reason to sit there and keep trying to save the run because of some stupid sunken cost fallacy. He did exactly what everyone else should have done, and them changing their minds after a call to get the hell out of there is on them. "will press none of his buttons to save your character" is disingenuous too. He threw down a blizzard and instead of using that as an opportunity to get out they stood their ground. Bad call. Bad coms. Bad Leadership. Bad Pull. Bad positioning. All of those are ingredients for failing a run but a mage rightfully saving his ass from a wipe is not one of those ingredients.

Even in regular WoW, this would be a bit rude. Sure, it'd only be some repair costs and some time lost in an M+, but just ditching everyone when you have so many tools to help is plain rude. In fucking hardcore? At the very least he should be kicked to the bottom of the priority for gear and raid spots.

So not playing the full clip, tank was already missing HP the Mage was at 75% mana tank pulls anyways, mage can't CC the boss, the one calling the shots says run so everyone runs, guy in charge changes his mind and says fight and ask why he isn't (Mage has no mana) healer stops to heal the tank on the way out (dies) Druid jumps on ramp on the way out and pulls another group (dies) and how is that the mage player fault or am I missing something?
The situation wasn't his fault. He's strictly blamed for roaching. The pull happened when he had >90% mana but he wasted a bunch of it on a 1 tick max rank blizzard. He didn't consume his free mana items, didn't use pot, didn't use a rank 1 nova/cone before blinking, didn't help with rank 1 blizzard after blink etc. All of this would be very low risk but high impact on survival. Everyone else in the group tried to help with dummies, cc, heal, taunt and so on but the one person who had access to the best tool kit did nothing to help his guild mates and this is why people blame him.

When you call run there is no turning around. Get out. Tank stopped to turn around, etc. If youre tank with most of the aggro just trail them to door THEN turn around to wait for others to make it. if youre about to die just jump through portal.
So then why would any tank or healer ever play the game? If everyone is just gonna roach and leave people who have no ability to self-peel to die, there is no fucking point. Your take is horrible. When you're in a guild run on hardcore, you help your team get out. It's not "roach roach roach" when a run is called. You kite and cc and help your teammates with no escapes to get out.
Pirate had the ability to save at LEAST one person he had enough mana to walk frost nova and shout RUN resulting in only the boss following them but the damage of the boss is way smaller compared to the other adds he has that hit like trucks. It is clear that the communication aspect was bad but that shouldn't have stopped him a player with a lot of mage experience to take control of the situation and use the most powerful CC class in classic WoW to it's full abilities, let us not forget about the mana potion you can clearly see in his bags that should 100% have been used to save people. It doesn't matter if you know them or not or if it's the first time playing it's about being a real guild a group of players that stand by each other not leave them to die for what? content? unexpected and very saddening.
If you watch the fight from Pirate's UI he's' got like 1 health and about 300 mana left. Dunno why the discrepancy, but if true of course he's gonna run. But as a main tank, this was a shit pull for hardcore, lol. Did tank even bother to check his teammates' health and mana first? Fail tank tbh.
He wasted mana, had mana gem and robe up to get back mana and could have used rank 1 spells for the slowing/rooting effects. The 1hp is an overlay, he was at max health.
calling it now: He's gonna say he did it all on purpose to drive engagement, including hovering over the gem, not using it and smiling, the dogshit play (or complete lack thereof), the clips days earlier yapping about how getting out of a tough spot by navigating it well as a team are the best moments - all of it. I've been leading one of the most successful FFA loot/full loot pvp mmorpg guilds around since the 1990s. Our success in UO, AC:DT, Darkfall and other games is pretty much entirely predicated on teamwork.

I saw a clip of their first run, he ass pulled some mobs on the ramp and was the first to start running, the entire time he was shaking his head like the others messed up. Then in the main clip, Pikaboo was speculating that Pirate got triggered that Yamato called him out for "walking" away. I can kind of believe it because you see him stop and turn around and try to justify why he's roaching out. I don't know the details but apparently they weren't on good terms. Would be hilarious if his reason for completely roaching out was because Yamato said something.

Judging by the decision making and performance of this group, I think this has more to do with the guy just not being confident in the group to not get him killed. So when the call to run was made, he committed. Then the guy running the group decided to stand and fight, after he said run.

@mercb3ast I've played mage enough to know when it's safe to cast a frost nova and I know pirate has too. That was very safe cause all mobs are in a line going towards tank. You run up a bit parallel to the mobs rooting 80-100 %of the mobs. No heal needed. Healing there can be risky cause mobs can switch targets. Pirate paniced and did not live up to his self-proclaimed skills. All that, as said, could be water under the bridge. But the zero accountability attitude man. Pirate talk a lot about life stuff and about striving to be a person of integrity etc. He does not live how he preach, that's for sure.

If I played mage I would be the last person to get out of the dungeon. Mages have so much utility it’s crazy and their rank 1 abilities hardly cost any mana too. I don’t even main mage or co main mage and I’d say hey guys run I’ll frost nova and blizzard the adds just heal the tank everyone else run and near the end once everyone’s out I’d pop mana potion or gem if needed and blink out. Simple as 🤷♂️ and if I didn’t execute it right I’d say sorry guys I couldnt effectively get you guys out that’s my bad.
Some of the best moments that I’ve had inside dungeons are because of “Oh shit ! We’re all going to die if we don’t execute this perfectly, and we toughen up at that moment. It is the group leader who fucked up. It's bad leadership. Be decisive and stick to your guns, even if there is a better decision. Singular purpose is better than faffing about "do we run or do we not run". The group leader made the right call. He got people killed when he decided to stop running briefly and try and re-engage.
Could this guy have done more? Sure, but it's not his responsibility to save bads from their own mistakes. Especially in a high stakes situation like this, where they have been shitting it up all day.

Being a noob myself if i was in this situation i wouldve probably done something similar. At the point that someone calls run im fuggin gone because im assuming "run" means everyone else is running behind me with a big trail of death behind them. That being said the reaction afterwards is all on Pirate. Like not even breaking down what happened from his point of view and hiding behind "im the enchanter" just makes things look worse for him.
He could perfectly mana gem (or mana pot, or both) + rank 1 frost nova + blink + cold snap and repeat...

Sure this sounds nice. But that's as far as it goes. It's unrealistic and unhelpful to try and distribute accountability this way. Realistically you need to look at what took place to create the situation in the first place, not try and share it evenly. The entire raid party wasn't accountable for Leeroy Jenkins. This is an absurd approach that's centered entirely around protecting egos and not around distributing accountability. Nothing Pirate did created the situation, and everyone has offered "what ifs" for things he might have done that were more likely to fail than succeed. It was not salvageable. There was a formal call to run with no formal call to stay and fight until after he had blinked away. The call to come back GOT THE HEALER KILLED. There's no real reason to sit there and keep trying to save the run because of some stupid sunken cost fallacy. He did exactly what everyone else should have done, and them changing their minds after a call to get the hell out of there is on them.
"will press none of his buttons to save your character" is disingenuous too. He threw down a blizzard and instead of using that as an opportunity to get out they stood their ground. Bad call. Bad coms. Bad Leadership. Bad Pull. Bad positioning. All of those are ingredients for failing a run but a mage rightfully saving his ass from a wipe is not one of those ingredients.

Even in regular WoW, this would be a bit rude. Sure, it'd only be some repair costs and some time lost in an M+, but just ditching everyone when you have so many tools to help is plain rude.

So not playing the full clip, tank was already missing HP the Mage was at 75% mana tank pulls anyways, mage can't CC the boss, the one calling the shots says run so everyone runs, guy in charge changes his mind and says fight and ask why he isn't (Mage has no mana) healer stops to heal the tank on the way out (dies) Druid jumps on ramp on the way out and pulls another group (dies) and how is that the mage player fault or am I missing something?
The situation wasn't his fault. He's strictly blamed for roaching. The pull happened when he had >90% mana but he wasted a bunch of it on a 1 tick max rank blizzard. He didn't consume his free mana items, didn't use pot, didn't use a rank 1 nova/cone before blinking, didn't help with rank 1 blizzard after blink etc. All of this would be very low risk but high impact on survival. Everyone else in the group tried to help with dummies, cc, heal, taunt and so on but the one person who had access to the best tool kit did nothing to help his guild mates and this is why people blame him.

Pirate used 3 blinks one tick of Blizzard instantly breaking it and refreshed his ice barrier, he didn't help because he didn't care and he damn knows it but his ego is too big so they are in the wrong
When you call run there is no turning around. Get out. Tank stopped to turn around, etc. If youre tank with most of the aggro just trail them to door THEN turn around to wait for others to make it. if youre about to die just jump through portal.
So then why would any tank or healer ever play the game? If everyone is just gonna roach and leave people who have no ability to self-peel to die, there is no fucking point. Your take is horrible. When you're in a guild run on hardcore, you help your team get out. It's not "roach roach roach" when a run is called. You kite and cc and help your teammates with no escapes to get out.
Pirate had the ability to save at LEAST one person he had enough mana to walk frost nova and shout RUN resulting in only the boss following them but the damage of the boss is way smaller compared to the other adds he has that hit like trucks. It is clear that the communication aspect was bad but that shouldn't have stopped him a player with a lot of mage experience to take control of the situation and use the most powerful CC class in classic WoW to it's full abilities, let us not forget about the mana potion you can clearly see in his bags that should 100% have been used to save people. It doesn't matter if you know them or not or if it's the first time playing it's about being a real guild a group of players that stand by each other not leave them to die for what? content? unexpected and very saddening.

If you watch the fight from Pirate's UI he's' got like 1 health and about 300 mana left. Dunno why the discrepancy, but if true of course he's gonna run. But as a main tank, this was a shit pull for hardcore, lol. Did tank even bother to check his teammates' health and mana first? Fail tank tbh.
It's his stream ui overlay, he isnt actually that low hp and mana
He wasted mana, had mana gem and robe up to get back mana and could have used rank 1 spells for the slowing/rooting effects. The 1hp is an overlay, he was at max health.
calling it now: He's gonna say he did it all on purpose to drive engagement, including hovering over the gem, not using it and smiling, the dogshit play (or complete lack thereof), the clips days earlier yapping about how getting out of a tough spot by navigating it well as a team are the best moments - all of it. He's gonna triple down on having done nothing wrong and if anything, the guild should thank him for all the content. He'll say this unironically and pat himself on the back for being the mastermind. This clown has a proven trackrecord of being completely incapable of admitting any fault.
