True story. Sold my SNES and games to an EB in Manhattan, in mid-90’s.
About 5 years later, I acquired a used SNES, so I went back to the same store and asked the sales guy “Any SNES games?”. By that point, they had nothing on the sales floor. The guy said “I think we have a few in the back”. He brought out a cardboard box COVERED w/ dust. I rummaged through, and found my copy of Kirby’s Dream Course, identifiable by my sharpied-on initials. Rebought my own game, against all odds. It’s one of the best games for the system, in any genre.
Love stories like this
Why doesn't this have more likes
What a great story! Glad you got your own game back after all those years.
Take my God damn like you beautiful bastard!
If only you had the same save file on the cart 🤣
Pokémon was my "too cool for school" game. Only just recently started getting into them and boy did I miss out on some very good times.
I LOVED the games as a kid, particularly Emerald. But I never followed up with Diamond and Pearl on the DS and as such, I lost interest in Pokemon big time. The only thing that kept me a fan were the Mystery Dungeon games on the DS that were FANTASTIC!
This year I’m discovering golf, pinball, and puzzle games are things that I actually like a lot. I was getting super burned out with action games, platformers, top down adventure games and the like, and They absolutely make fabulous things to pick up and play that you can play for 5 minutes or 2 hours. Never thought I’d be into these
I keep an eye out on Twitch for 2-P Dream Course plays. It can bring out the most petty behavior in players. It's wonderful.
Never expected to see someone who isn't a fan of the main Kirby platformers but really digs one of the side games. Guess it's a good thing Kirby lends itself well to so many genres.
Also, talking about old golf games triggered a deep memory of a game called Mean 18. All I really remember is the PC speaker sound effects scared me as a kid.
This just got added to the Switch. First time I’ve played it since the mid nineties and yes, this game still holds up. Despite the usual cutesiness you’d expect from a Kirby game, Dream Course is legitimately challenging. The best kind too-hard, but never unfair.
I bet with upgraded hardware lots of these games are even better than they originally were.
I love the box art for this.
This is easily one of the best 2 player games on snes
Great video and another game I have never played or seen added to my want list. I really like the types of games that you chose to review. Keep up the great work!
I had this, never beat course 8 in all my years but I love it. Have it on my snes classic now
Awesome review man! This is the best snes multiplayer game imho :) I still play it with my friends. Too bad there aren't any new versions though.
Hi! It’s been a while, but now you can play this on switch :-)
Excellent. I hated this game a kid but grew to love it for the exact reasons you hilight
This game was and is one of my favorites!
My man, I really appreciate all your reviews. From what you mentioned, I have a topic suggestion; consider making a short video on the 'SNES Golf Titles' ? There appears to be a sea of mediocre ones for SNES/Super Famicom. Your previous SNES sports coverage has been spot on, and I love how you include games released outside of the states. Watching your videos has helped me realize that it's just as important to know which games to avoid, as it is to know which ones you want. Anyways, just throwing that out there. Thanks for doin' what you do!
+Prophis Just saw this now, thanks Prophis. I have a SNES baseball video ready to go in a few weeks and I'll be getting to SNES golf soon enough
Looking forward to it
I love this game. It's more of a puzzle game than golf.
Yeah, no. You're wrong. It's fucking mini golf.
@@HomestarRunner20X6 It is a also a puzzle because you have to puzzle out the best way to complete a level most of the time a Hole in One!
My Mom and I loved this game. We used to rent and play this all the time.

"The goal is to get the ball in the hole"
"The goal is to get the ball in the hole"
"The goal is to get the ball in the hole"
"The goal is to get the ball in the hole"
Ooo it's just so fun to say
Honestly I've always found Kirby games to be somewhat more mature than many other cutesy platforming games. There is quite a load of fantasy violence as well as some violent dialog in Super Star that imo would appeal to the 9-12 year old crowd. Kinda like Mega Man X for example. Today, most Kirby games have the E10+ rating due to the cartoon violence. Lol ironically when you were in middle school you were the right age for Kirby.
Finding this 9y later feels like a gem ❤
My first Kirby game and a lot of good memories
I've never played "Kirby's Dream Course," however, to your comment, I find "Kirby's Adventure" to be one of the finest video games for the N.E.S. - as well as in general.
Although it’s not one of my favorites on the SNES, I do still enjoy playing it. I’m not very good at it though. Got to about the third level, or maybe just past a few holes. Been a couple of years since I played it last, but hey, thank you for the motivation and the great review. You got me wanting to play it again.
I've played Kirby since I was a kid in the 90s and absolutely love the franchise. I also played this particular game a lot back then too and I really wish they'd make another one. Make a new Kirby's dream course on switch with online play that would be awesome!
I mean Kirby canvas curse for the DS got what I think is basically a secret with Kirby and the rainbow curse on the Wii u. It's very rare for any of the Kirby spin-off games to get a sequel but if there's one that really deserves it it's Kirby's dream course
This is one of my favorite kirby games I still play on my Wii U
This game's VS feature is A BLAST
Something felt off by the end of this video. Then I realized: there's no "I hope you have a great rest of your day".
My all time favorite 2 player game on snes
Dream course was my fav game but onlyyyy when playing versus mode against a friend. The single player is very fun but I had so much more fun playing against friends because there was no stupid par which was essentially an annoying time limit to beat each level.
This game had some awesome demo modes to show off each power up and stuff too which I loved back then
This is one of my favorites i love this game.
Kirbys dream course is many times more incredible an experience when you play with a friend. Just dropping those abilities on buddies or stealing games with crazy effects is a blast.
kirby's dream course is my favorite golf game
"the kirby games are OK and it's no my thing, but I really love golf games they are the best"
I never knew a single kid who likes golf, or prefer golf instead of kirby.
I loved Microsoft Golf back in the late 90's
I'm not a fan of Super Star either, but The latest Kirby game on 3DS is really fantastic.
Love this game
I'm more of a fan of the Kirby spin off games. This and Kirby's Pinball come to mind. While the platformers are a bit too breezy for my taste, these games can be hard as hell.
Oh man, this will satisfy my marble madness craving.
Very underrated game. For me it is a masterpiece! I had so much fun to archieve all gold medals. Not that easy!
Literally purchasing this right now
I'm working on a rom hack for Kirby's Dream Course called KDC: The Lost Levels!
Could you cover it when it released? I will give send you it via e-mail if you want. Reply with your answer!
That sounds great, email is in the About section of the channel
...well?
Any update?
"The mazes look more like Marble Madness for NES" lol
Man I loved this game so much and I didn't even know why
This game is my happy place.
Fuji Golf, i remember that game lol
Hot take: This is the best Kirby game. (Yes, I've played almost evry other game in the series, and STILL think that)
While it may be a "golf" game, it is sort of more like billiards in the way you have to approach it.
You should cover the Grumps Dream Course level pack.
Hell yes it is!
This game was my archnemesis as a child. I love Kirby - always have - but man do I fucking hate golf. And this is just golf.
Multiplayer- Fun.
Single Player- F that. Why play a golf game alone, while the challenge is sometimes unfair. Like getting the timing for the boost is obnoxious.
oh man that was addicting, that one. to get all the courses right. and i dont like golf at all :)
Tried to get my friend to play this with me.
He Responded by saying he hates Kirby games.
The only bad thing about this game is that each course is designed with an easily identifiable path to a hole-in-one and if you mess it up or can't figure it out, you just feel dumb.
Ok cool yeah good job
Mario Golf on the 3DS is great?! Sir have you even played Pangya on PSP?
so you do play 3ds games?
kirby golf :)
This one is really fun with friends, otherwise I find it boring on my own.
A good golf game? Yes. A good Kirby game? Not so much. It's not really Kirbyistic enough to be a good Kirby game.
I played this for the first time this year and got about two minutes into the first stage and stopped playing. Zero idea what I was supposed to be doing or how to do it. Spritework holds up, as do the backgrounds but the courses look horrific. Not for me, I guess
... Even growing up loving Kirby and knowing exactly what this game was, I didn't care to even try it because... ew, golf? Of course, I ended up playing and loving it eventually, and even way-late getting into more golf games like even the somewhat realistic NES Nintendo first-party golf titles.
Dream course is the shit son
Is this an english friendly Super Famicom game? I see plenty of Japanese versions of this game for a lot less money than the English counterpart.
One of the only things on the SNES Classic that I consider total shovelware. Played about 10 minutes and was finished. If only they replaced this with NBA Jam.
It is the fav game for my GF.
I love this game but i suk at it lol
I’m not fond of this game. I find it very janky and frustrating to play. The graphics and music are great though.
I’m gonna be honest. I fucking hate this game. Not because it’s a bad game per say. But because I’m fucking HORRIBLE at golf games. And this one especially.
Sorry, but this is definitely pool. I think it's pretty funny that you keep calling it golf when it's so obviously inspired by pool.
+Syastsk I can see why you would think that but you're wrong. It's a golf/puzzle game according to the developers themselves (it actually began as a mini golf game in development).
So no, it's not so funny that he would refer to it as a golf game.
I dunno man, look at the video. It's pool. It's like if someone made a football game, but replaced the football with a basketball and used the basic rules of basketball. Can't quite call it football after that!
Again, I can see why you or any other person would say that but the game is MEANT to be a re-imagined golf game according to the developers themselves (and again, the game started off as a mini-golf game in development). If you personally think it's too far removed from traditional golf to actually be considered a golf game, fair enough. But it's meant to be a spin on the golf genre.
I can see how it could be mini-golf as opposed to traditional golf. It's definately not pool though, pool doesn't have the reverse score thing, holes in one being the best score or a single ball and the rules of pool are that you have to get one series of balls but not your opponent's series of balls (stripes or solids) then the 8-ball. how is it even remotely similar?
Exactly what mattwo7 said. Honestly, the only similarity between this and pool are the ricochets... which is part of mini-golf. That's it.
This game is the fucking shiiiiiiiiiet
i love Kirby, but HATE this game, just hate it, bluuuuhhhh, good review though!
Gonna DISAGREE on this one. Everything said here is true and factual with ONE(1) *glaring* exception:
Kirby's Dream Course is *NOT* a golf game.
Kirby's Dream Course is a PUZZLE game that has golf-like elements to its puzzle mechanics.
This is evidenced by the simple fact that it is possible to *Hole-in-One* EVERY SINGLE COURSE in the game.
