      HeroRR I know you own a couple of Honda’s, mine is a 2013 Honda CB1000R naked bike with lots of mods and personal ques. I love Honda’s build quality, but they lack some of the things that draw us toward other bikes. More power for one, but I can’t wait to see the new 2018 CB1000R up close and personal!

    As an owner of an 2018 R6 I can tell you some facts:
    (Edit: I'd also like to point out the fact that R6 separates itself from the class because of the engine. I know that sounds funny but thats how the R6 has always been, it's a bike that you wanna drive to the track and rip it out, it's not made for street riding. But street Rossi's like me are suckers for ripping it out anyways, so we go for the R6)
    Bad Facts:
    > As a 5'11 feet tall guy I still cant flat foot both my feet at the same time, I only have about half an inch clearence to the ground to flat foot, but dammn thats high...
    > The seat is drop dead ass, I sat wrong for like 30 minutes and my lower hip hurt like hell for 3 days straight up (I'm 18 btw.... I shouldnt be having that issue, there's something really wrong with that seat.. I will put on a cushiony seat cover soon.)
    > The riding position is definitely aggressive, you have to be tucked in at all the times, you sit normally for 5 minutes straight and ur arm and hips hurt. U also have to sit all the way back on the seat, cant take the tank as a brace. So naturally when you're braking you always slide down.
    > There is no space for a normal handle bar phone mount, so you're basically sacrificing a steering dampener for a stem fork mount.
    > Also has a huge cat system which nullifies the sound a lot, to my taste its good, when I' sitting at traffic doesn't blow my ears, riding through my campus or taking her out from my garage it doesn't make much sound and disturb neighbours. But once you get above 8k rpm, you have that inline 4 singing and get a massive HP and Torque boost that u can almost feel like you've gone to a lower gear and started accelerating. It's bonkers!
    > But will I leave that cat system on? NO!! next thing I'm buying an M4 y-pipe cat eliminator and taking the y-pipe off. Because loud pipes save lives, I experienced it on my 3rd day of riding when a guy almost cut me off to get in my lane and I pulled the clutch in and revved up my engine cause my horn sounds like a baby cry and no one can hear it. He got scared and moved back and said sorry,I said it was fine and were both good. That made me a believer of loud pipes save lives.
    > Even tho it has LED lights as stock, they don't illuminate much of your surroundings so you might want after market bulbs.
    > The mirros are fairly decent, doesn't compensate the visibility for how huge those mirrors are.... Oh my god those mirrors look terrible...
    > The fender eliminator kits cost a lot and as usual the fender looks bad...
    Good Facts:
    > It Revs Up To About A 100k RPM. Like, for real tho, it revs upto 16.5k rpm and it's just insane putting it at one of the worlds highest revving motorcycle engines. You know what else revs that high? An F1 car engine. Yeah even the F1 cars only rev about 15k. This monstrosity revs upto 16.5k LET THAT SINK IN BOIIS. This machine was never made for the street, you sit on it and you know for sure this is a (mini) demon on chains on the road. Also on highways you can short shift the bike and it would compensate for it by revving higher and gives the bike more acceleration to get out of potentially hazard situations.
    > Low and really manageable torque at lower rpms enable you to ride in rain or traffic with no problem even if you are fairly inexperienced rider.
    > Really smooth throttle response.
    > Power slowly builds up to > Wow this is soo lame it must be a 300cc > aah thats good > Thats it, thats the sweet spot > wait whats happening?? > Oh shit > HOLY MOTHER OF R6!!!!. Jokes aside its power is super linear and super handle-able.
    > The brakes... The damn brakes... Did I mention the brakes? Sweet mother of Rossi those brakes are good!!!
    > Suspension is stiff and you have to stand on pegs for every small bump, but it lets you corner sooo precise like its an R1. You look there, you go there. You don't look there? Don't worry you will still be there. That's how precise it is.
    > You put regular fuel in, it behaves like a well trained horse. You put 91 or above, it behaves like a Pegasus with steroids. Truly amazing how the whole feel of the bike changes. You've got horse power everywhere...
    > I mean have u looked at it? JUST UGGGHHH THEM CURVESSS!!! Best lookin 600 imo, I compared it side by side in the dealership with every other 600. Damn its hot. zx-6r just looks like a glorified 400 now, crb600rr - eww those headlights..., gsxr 600 is a really good bike but r6 looks better and is way slim compared to that.
    > It also has a sweet sound that's unique to the Yamaha (Not the crossplane crankshaft, we all know r6 doesn't have it lol), also happen to be one of my fav motogp teams. Don't get me wrong the 2009 cbr600rr is still the best looking bike imo. But for this market, R6 wins.
    > The seat and handle bars, once you get used to the sitting position, I cannot say how comfortable I feel now, it almost feels like I'm sleeping on the bike and it's a good position atleast for me, because I happen to be almost the exact height as their target audience?
    > Removing the fairings and seats are fairly and very easy, to get to most parts you only ever need to remove 2 or less fairings and it makes life pretty comfy.
    > They have some really sick mods for the bike, so it could be a ricer's haven, like I said, ricer's haven not a modder's haven. Because most mods are only cosmetic for this bike unlike the gsxr or the kawi.
    That's some of my experiences, hope they helped you. If you have any questions about the bike specific ones, riding gear, mods or riding experience, I'll be happy to answer them for you :D

      @silentshift444 4 года назад +1

      @@lemon5501 so long story short, r6 is better to start with cause of it's "meh" power on lower rpm? it's forgiving somehow and you won't be scared of it unless you reach 8k above rpm right? can you explain what it really feels when your on like 5k or 6k rpm? is it really run like a 300 as you say?

    • @lemon5501
      @lemon5501 4 года назад +2

      Silent Shift Nof really man, the reality is that it's still a 600. You need tremendous amount of control and patience to learn on a 600, especially if it's new and has unbroken tyres. You will fall trust me, I almost did 2 times cause I lost my rear grip. Unless you can like ride a 300 to it's limit, don't get a 600. But if you live in a country like USA then get a 600, if you live in UK get a 300 or a country like India? Get a 125 that's enough!
      It really depends on the kind of roads. Like I can't take a 1000cc into Indian roads and expect to cross 3k rpm in first gear even on highways lmao!

    Actually, I think your evaluations were fair and while not completely comprehensive, you covered all the necessary details that most of us a concerned about. I think it’s also fair to say that looks are subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! That being said, some will argue certain points out of bias for a particular brand. At the end of the day, what I boils down to is which would you buy? As you said, you like the Kawi, me I’d buy the Yamaha.....

  • @kristiangurholt59

    I have a 2008 600RR too, but in my opinion the new generation looks timeless and awesome, reminiscent of the old 900RR Fireblade. I love the '' camaro'' headlights, and the shape of the fairings, especially in red looking like an older Ducati Superbike. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to say that it looks ugly is a bit harsh I think.

    • @salskars6637
      @salskars6637 6 лет назад

      Kristian G, I initially didn't like it but it's grown on me. Now I feel the same way but I'd remove the decals from the red one and design new ones.
      Problem is that it lacks "bang for the buck" - it's as basic as it can be.

    • @HeroRR
      @HeroRR  6 лет назад +3

      That is an interesting way of looking at it. I guess saying it’s ugly is harsh. Its looks are better in different color graphics.

    • @salskars6637
      @salskars6637 6 лет назад

      If the 2007-2012 CBRs had a 636, 675 or 750 etc.. I would already have one. I think Honda nailed it on those body models. Best looking tank-shape to seat and the windscreen framed out to the top. *with the exception of the fairing plastic engine-covers which can be swapped. Even when dated the CBRs have a look that warrants "collector status" imo.

However, you were incorrect in saying that it does not have power modes. It does at least have Full or Low, which limits you to about 75-80%.

    I love my 2019 R6. I have always been a Yamaha guy and the 2017 up models just look amazing! No other looks compare to it. This is my 7th Yamaha bike. I have loved each and every one of them. It’s easy to ride at lower rpms even for a beginner but once you hit the 8-10k rpm range you better have some experience. If you are just starting out my advice would be to shift before the 8-10k range and take it easy, you’ll be just fine but man this thing really really comes alive in that range. It feels kinda like you switch engines as each k of rpm rises and the handling of this bike is second to none. Short curvy roads without long straights and even the R1 won’t keep up if you are truly riding this bike right. The handling and precision is truly on a different level than even the R1. When you do decide to wind it out then really wind it. You will think you need to shift that you are going to hurt the engine but I promise you that you won’t. Run it to 16k+, engine will be just fine. Like I said, if starting out take it easy at first you’ll be fine...get in the 8-10k+ range on rpm’s and your ass better hang on!

    750 MASTER RACE. I just bought a 2017 GSX-R 750 and I honestly don't think there is a bike I'd rather have. The value is incredible, it has way more than enough power for street riding, it's low to the ground (I'm 5' 6"), and the stock exhaust note is only bested by liter bikes. The entire bike looks absolutely flawless except for that god awful cyclops headlight but, to be completely honest, it's grown on me a lot. I'm absolutely in love with this bike and to anyone debating whether to buy a liter bike or a supersport, do yourself a huge favor and choose the 750 supersport. You'll be so glad you did. It's a light and nimble 600 chassis with a much faster 750cc engine. Unless you're a highly skilled rider who takes their bike to the track often, you have absolutely no need for a liter bike because your rider skill has to be exceptional to ever come close to using a liter bike's potential and it's the furthest thing from suitable for the street. Not to mention the boat loads of money you'll save on insurance each month. Just some friendly advice to anyone deciding on which supersport bike to buy. The 750 is the king.

    without giving up too much personal information I will let you know that basically, my job consists of riding all types of motorcycles. this video is great for the features. but actually looking into what makes each bike so unique is most important.
    1. the Yamaha R6 has the best power band and the best pedigree. every other 600 was a street bike that brought to the track. the R6 is the only race bike that brought a bike to the street. so it is going to be the most aggressive but its because of its great lineage. Also yamaha was voted the most reliable bike of the year for last 6 years.
    2. the Honda CBR600RR is lacking in power, but it is the best-balanced bike, with its weight being north of 400lbs, but it doesn't feel like it. handles great in the corners, and is the best 600 for dailying.
    3. the ninja has a great lineage as well but as good as the Yamaha, Kawi doesnt update their bikes and only follows the same thing the other companies do, like a little brother following its big brother around.
    4. GSXR Bros. ugliest bike, least amount of power throughout the rev range, and Suzuki's depreciate the most which is why you can buy a 1-year-old GSXR for like $4k to $5k under the MSRP.
    this is my opinion and i love that you covered alot of what i said but i think there are other "street factors" that need to be takin into consideration.

That is the third motorcycle we have bought from them, and each time they have been awesome.

    KAWASAKI ALL DAY EVERYDAY

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 6 лет назад +4

      And the irony is that Kawasaki has better streetbikes in that range. In the 636's price range you have both the Ninja 1000 (which is both faster and more comfortable than the 636) and the Versys 1000 (which is a LOT more comfortable and still nearly as fast). Then you have the Z900 which is just as fast as the 636, more comfortable and a LOT cheaper. And all 3 of these bikes have a lot more low/mid range power than the 636.

    • @JG-gh4xj

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 6 лет назад +2

      On public roads, honestly, the 650 is nicer to ride. 600 super sports aren't the greatest of road bikes. Great on a track though. I have a Versys 650 myself and honestly I prefer the torquier powerband of the twin for street riding. Can still get some nice big lean angles in the corners.

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 6 лет назад +1

      The other nice part of a 650 vs a super sport is you can actually use the power on road without getting into too much trouble. You get on it hard on a super sport and you're going to be doing triple digit speeds very quickly. On a 650 you can get on it pretty hard and not be going too crazy fast and a 300 or 400 you can absolutely wail on.

      I was surprised a few months ago after my curiosity lead me to cycle-ergo dot com. Not sure of their accuracy but the rider triangle of the zx6r (2013- ) is close to the Honda CBR600rr (2009 - 2012) which we know is ergo-friendly.
      The 636 has a slight 2 degree more bend in the knee and 1 degree LESS crouch with hip and both the same degree of forward lean. Your measurements may be different. The ConvertiBars offer a dial-in for trips and even adjustable rear sets if needed. These bikes are mod-able if inclined.

    I would put the Suzuki on 2nd place for the simple reason of usability. The R6 may seam better on paper, but if you're not taking it to the track, it's not really at home. The GSXR600 is actually most suited for street riding, and though i agree the Kawasaki is Nr 1 her, the Suzuki deserves 2nd (in my opinion)

      Oh, reliability is easy
      Excellent, but not idiot proof, all four of them. If you want to get pedantic, Kawasaki is the worst (by so little it hardly matters), Suzuki 3rd, and the CBR and YZF will last forever since they say honda and Yamaha on them respectively so long as you don't do anything real stupid like take it into an ORV park or remove the rev limiter

    • @startmeup5156
      @startmeup5156 5 лет назад +3

      In the reliability department, it is Yamaha in # one spot, with Suzuki and Honda tied in number 2 spot. And even then, there is only a marginal difference between number 1 spot and number 2. Kawasaki is in 3rd spot. All 4 bikes are the most reliable bikes out there.

    Know it's late to respond but as a 2014 GSXR600 owner, just wanted to say the power mode options mentioned in video are the 1000's, the 600 has a A mode and B mode, so full power and then B is less responsive so let's call this rain or school zones. The comfort is great, and nothing disappointing about it. I was on way to buy a 2016 (the current year of purchase) gsxr750, when at the door they had a brand new 2 year old 600 never owned or ridden just didnt sell sitting there, the 4000.00 price drop was enough to switch my mind, coming off of a zx7r, the weight lose was awesome, user friendly, and power of a 600 is not boring rarely given the room to go over 260kph anyways. Suzuki is pretty nice to work with, so as all these bikes are close it's much like buying a car, if the dealership isnt good where you are, a second choice pick maybe better in long run.

    Great breakdown! I believe every bike has its own unique group of riders and I'm R6 or die guy being a racer but I will say to any rider looking at buying a 600cc bike today the 636 is the way to go. Unless you're hitting the track or canyons daily the R6 won't do much for you besides look good. The GSXR is a good bike for shorter riders, and the CBR to be honest has fallen completely off a cliff and serves no real need or want that the other bikes can't fill. It's sad after the amazing bike they produced 03-08.

      Chicago R6 on the other hand,the r6 is nice because you dont have alot of power under 8k rpm,which makes it more preferable for daily riding and traffic as opposed to the 636 which has alot more low mid torque and leaves you dealing with the throttle

    • @JPerez-cw1tb

      Nick Belanger For the same reason some prefer a small cramped sports car and not a big comfy, roomy suv.
      Supersports and not the most comfortable bikes, but they do provide a adrenaline filled rush when you crack that throttle open. Of course speed isn't everything, since they also have the best suspension for handling and cornering from any other class bikes.
      Looks. Just like sports cars, sport bikes look badass. Alot of sport bike riders don't even take the time to really "know" their bikes and what they can actually do. Vanity. Some people just like to look "cool".
      Personally, i love sports bikes. My last bike was a zx6r (shameless plug- i have a few videos on my channel). I used it for both commuting and long trips (many trips to mexico - again, videos on my channel =D). Once you get used to the ergonomics, its actually not that bad comfort wise.
      Now, all that being said, for the moment ive moved away from the super sport class and currently ride a ninja 650r. For my current uses, it fits my needs. It has a much better and comfortable riding position, way better low end torque, better fuel efficiency, and simply a lower cost to maintain.
      Hope i helped answer your question, and keep in mind, anything on two wheels is a blast to ride 🏍

      Sport bike around town only can be hard on the wrists. Get above 60mph and the wind in your chest lightens the pressure on your wrists. Because of this I find at faster speeds this is the better riding position for me. Besides all the other reasons for a sport bike, I really want the performance for the fun of it and it is safer in the right hands to have the handling brakes and ability to accelerate out of trouble quickly on the road. Problem is the acceleration can get you into trouble too. You really have to think to stay safe.

      My daily was an 03 ZX6R for a long time(over 30,000 miles in 2 years) and while it wasn't the most optimal its just so much dam fun. I can always count on it to give me a rush after a dull day at work. Way more than enough power but not as insane as a 1k so you get the fun of revving it out, and absolutely eats up the twisties. There is something really great about getting off work and being able to head straight for the mountains for a fun time.

      Samuel K. Don’t get a bike until you’re over 20. Thank me after you see the estimated insurance rates. This is coming from experience. I’m extremely glad I started on a ninja 650 instead of a 250/300/400 and waited until I was 22. My insurance is literally $48 a month for full coverage. It woulda been way higher when I was 18.

    The 2017 R6 also has the front suspension and brakes from the R1. The brake rotors are 10mm larger.
    It also has a quick shifter. They said they would be limited to the first 500 sold or whatever, but I'm yet to see one that didn't have it. And believe me, it makes a huge difference.

    HeroRR I do agree with you about the looks of GSX-R, I really do loved the looks and headlights of 08 GSX-R than the 2011 and up models, but 2011 also looks good in side view except the headlights,
    Yamaha R6 3rd Generation is the best looking R6 for me, 2009 Black Raven or Blue ones.
    CBR I liked the 2007 Repsol Edition, new models looks really bad.
    Well we exactly have the same taste when it comes to look.

    • @diamondheat9
      @diamondheat9 4 года назад

      It is subjective but at the beginning if this decade all the superbikes had a similar hawk like profile. The zx6r retained that up to 2018 and the R6 sort of kept it yet lost it and gained a forehead or predator look. People who loved the looks for a long time might be put off a little by the new looks of the cbr and r6

      Just a few more years, depends on where you live ,if in America some place allows you ride at age 16, but in CA 18. Basically senior year ,and better if you start off kindergarten 1 year late so by senior year you can ride one for sure or junior. I recommend ninja 300, r3, suzuki sv 650, yamaha fz7, suzuki gsx500f and my personal favorite is 2005-2008 suzuki gsx650f, it's a lower power of a gsxr 600 engine, but still 70hp is still a handful. The pros are, 1 cheaper insurance 2, same great in line 4 screaming sound, 3 planty power, 4 a full body fairings. Cons are insurance is still above a 300 for sure, 2 420 lbs is not light. If I have to start over again I would either keep my 05 ninja 250r or suzuki gsx650f. Now I'm able to max out the performance of a 250-300 bikes, now I'm able to carry out a tap above 100 mph exit speed out of a nice corner. Trust me is way more fun to ride a less powerful bike fast than bigger bike slow, even a ninja 300 has the same 0-60 as mid 2000s mustang gt or wrx sti, or any mid range sport car, but you can corner harder on a bike, On a bigger bike like 1000 it takes time and courage to learn corner hard, I learn knee drag on my 2nd bike 07 ninja zx10r, I took it very slow to learn it, so I don't crash and feel bad.
      I buses you like sport bike, but if not any 250cc to 800cc other categories bike are good for beginners. 800 advantrures bike is heavy and tall though, 800cc cruiser is a good option.

      Kawaii Ninja thanks for taking the time to write all this I appreciate it and i live in Australia in the city i live in you need to be 18 years old to ride a motorcycle, the motorcycle i have in mind are the ninja 600 and the R6 Yamha white and red cause these bikes are the most that i liked they are more powerful for a beginning ride but i would learn to handle it I don’t want to start on a 300 or low cc bike because i will get board of it real fast and thanks for the bikes that you wrote i will look on them thanks a lot man

    The gsxr has an electronic steering damper, power modes, most comfortable adjustable rear sets that you didn’t mention , brembo breaks and you actually have to know how to ride it. It misses out on abs and traction control but that’s what makes you a better rider down the road not to mention the colors. I think you were a tiny bit too critical

    It's honestly sad, that whenever a comparison like this comes out, it's always the predicable Japanese squad that lines up. Gixxer, cbr, R6, Ninja.. Like, in the entire world, that's the complete list of bikes in this class, which is crazy when you think about it. Can't count in the Daytona or the MV F675 because of their increase in price, they are kinda in their own little bubble.. What I really wanna know is, where is KTM in this? Where is BMW? Where is literally every other manufacturer? Yes the whole naked bike craze is over us and "600 dont sell anymore".. well then make them 750 instead I don't care. I'd much rather have a light and nimble small supersport, than a 1000 with too much power for city and country roads anyways + that hefty price tag and insurance. Hell, I'd even settle with a sub 600cc supersport, as long as they are engaging and fun to whip around. So sad that the only real faired bikes in this category, are all the 650cc sports tourers.
    Just imagine a reinterpreted KTM RC8, but in the 600 league, how mad would that be? Or a BMW S600RR ? Maybe an Aprilia RSV600? What about a Ducati 700 supersport, renew the old brand name (and not stick it on a sports tourer, but an actual supersport). So much potential, and no one have the balls to go for that market :'c

      The issue is that R&D of 600cc & 1000cc is more less same but profit on the bike is huge difference, From business view 600 Super Sport is not working but i am agreed with you i would love to see BMW, Ducati in this segment too.

    • @Real_MisterSir
      @Real_MisterSir 6 лет назад

      Laki29 that's true, but mainly due to 600 bikes having reached their pinnacle of performance with the restrictions that are in place by emissions standards etc. 1000 bikes are still going forward in terms of power and engine characteristics, so there is more to gain with the same R&D, and as you say the earnings are higher on those bikes. However, 600 bikes appeal to a broader market so in theory it should be possible to sell more of them than 1000 bikes, it's just that development is so limited now that people just stick with existing bikes because new ones don't offer enough development to justify the price of a new bike.

    I started out being a rabid Kawasaki fan (H2, Z1, original GPz, Ninja) they've always kicked butt and took names in the performance catagory. Yamaha stole my heart with the ground breaking tech and great looks of the FZ750 and later YZF R1. I was hoping the R6 would win as I have owned 2 of them which were both amazing bikes.... but I do have a place in my heart for Kawasaki. Kawasaki has always been the bad boy on the block, a bit rough around the edges who stole your lunch money and then threw your books and homework in the mud.

    I'm not a brand loyal sort of guy, but I can't help but feel like Suzuki is going to die out soon. Where Yamaha and Kawasaki have both been innovating heavily in the sport and naked bike scenes and Honda has been killing it with the older crowds with the Africa twin and goldwing, Suzuki just sort of tags along. They're entire line up from the busa all the way down to their dual sports are all decades old tech. I feel like they've fallen so far behind that the only reason they're at all relevant is because they're relatively inexpensive.

      They sell a lot of Vstroms and cruisers. The 600 class it’s what is really dying, thanks to Euro 4, think this is bad because 600s are my favorite motorcycles. I currently ride on a Yamaha FZ6, has very good power (94 hp) and is confortable for the street.
