Even the sharpest and strongest sword can't feat the sharpest and strongest mind of the weilder. You can't always rely on your sole strengths in life sometimes you gotta adapt and improvise even when all else seems lost.
They say breaking a mirror is seven years of bad luck, right? So I did some counting with that in mind, and found that, onscreen, Conan broke 18 mirrors, while Bombaata broke 1. That’s 19 mirrors out of all the ones we visually see get broken onscreen. So put that all together, 7 times 19, that’s 133 years of bad luck right there. Damn, no wonder the third movie has been in development hell for 39 years. So that got me thinking, what have we gotten since, in terms of Conan or overall Robert E. Howard content? We got Red Sonja in 1985, Kull the Conqueror in 1997, the 2011 Conan the Barbarian reboot with Jason Momoa, the 2007 Conan game on Xbox 360, and Conan Exiles in 2018. I wouldn’t say this is entirely bad, though I still would’ve liked to see an official third Conan film. Sadly, with Arnold’s age and the heart surgery he got around 2019 (I think), I think that ship has long since sailed.
2:37 seeing Conan throw his sword and the wizard come out of the broken mirror, I ask myself, how did Conan know the wizard is behind that mirror he threw his sword at?
He did not. I think the wizard can transfer between mirrors. Conan tricked him, pretending to break one mirror and wizard was late transferring to another one.
I saw Conan the Barbarian & Conan the Destroyer 3x in the Theater when they were originally released & also purchased both films later on VHS. However ...on VHS I noticed the Conan & Togra fight scene in Destroyer had been edited to remove Togra's vastly superior Sword display after they both fell off their horses & continued fighting. I've never read anything regarding this "Edit" nor have watched any Arnold or Sven-Ole Thorsen interview that mentions it either. Regardless, as said ...Sven-Ole Thorsen's Sword skills really made Arnold look bad which I'm sure is the reason the "Edit" was done for Home media release.
I love the Conan films but let's be serious, this scene is terrible. I can almost see in Schwarzenegger's eyes the moment he thought 'I need to branch out into some other roles'.
In order to beat wizard you need to understand that his will is based on own development and higher level of entity than most of others have. - So God of wizzards can be only perfect warrior, as such perfection comes through will harmonic to will of life. All life is magic. Like ordinary fight. - Your love to life will give the answer who is winner.
