You're a legend Steve, the only disappointing okay about a simple fix is there wasn't more to watch! Also, You inspired me to go out and get a soldering iron and a few other bits, and repair two faulty xbox controllers both with bad left joysticks , into one working one! It was good fun
I had a DJ Hero turntable w/ no power, and it was just a bad capacitor like the one on your drums sitting between the batteries and the wires to the board. Replaced it and viola! Like new!
Nice video, had it recommended to me because I recently got back into guitar hero and my guitar wasn't working, was searching videos on it and fixed it and felt proud of myself (first time I've ever fixed an electronic). My drums are working but the kick pedal's cord completely disintegrated lmao, they clearly made these as cheaply as possible.
Mine had the same issue, fixed it while my friends were over real quick after checkin ur vid and it worked!! Huge thanks, no wonder im already subscribed
I just pulled mine out of storage a few weeks ago and the drums worked fine, but the plastic on the wire to the kick petal flaked apart into dust. Also the short wire that connect the cymbals did the same. Still worked.
I’m a drummer since more than 20 years and I find soo much difficult playing drums in those music games 😂 I find myself more confident with the bass guitar instead. Btw nice fix
Same, especially since the pads are made of the cheapest plastic which makes anything more than a straight beat a nightmare. Doing fills on these things without that little bit of bounce the real drums have will absolutely kill your wrists after about an hour. I can see why do many real drummers who got into Rock Band splurged and bought the nicer, $200 kit that had the mesh heads. Plus, as a drummer, I have a habit of playing phantom notes and such on the snare, which the game penalizes you for. lol
There's a MIDI pro adapter you can get to use any electronic drum kit with Rock Band 3 on 360, Wii and PS3, and 4 (on PS4, for Xbox One/Series you need a 800 dollar adapter so it's not worth it) You can even map the drums so you can fix the placement so it actually makes sense for an experienced drummer!
I once took the brain out of one of these and wired it up so I could attached it to a midi drum kit. It was so professional, I had to use an ice cream tub and parcel tape for the case. Complete overkill but it worked quite nicely 😁
@@samuraidriver4x4 Possibly, though (guesswork on my part for these drums) any current spike would be very short duration (you would get away with small wires only under those circumstances) and the cap (which looks like an afterthought bodge) would partially reduce the consequent voltage dip.
This video had match fixing vibes for me. It felt like a manufactured fault to great a video. I hope I'm just wrong as I do enjoy the content and the rap.
And to think many people throw this away thinking is unrepairable... and is just a cable disconnected. Also is a shame they stop making games like this. I remember having a blast on the arcade with Guitar Freaks and DrumMania.
And then use tiny wire gauge between the batteries/cap and the board? Putting the cap on the pcb would be a better solution and a spending a bit more on decent wires.
I have a pryramid stereo that has a tape deck and cd player with a radio. The whole thing rotates. It stopped working a while back. Is this something you would want to do a video on?
How funny is it that I just broke out my old PS3 Guitar Hero World Tour set 2 days ago to see if it works and it does. We're both in for good drum times with a stupid game!
There is nothing spookier for spooktober than an Activision product. "I see dead franchises" - kid who isn't Bruce Willis, but is in the movie with Brucie and da dead folk. And I also love how Muppet man is inside your multimeter. Don't forget to feed it every once in awhile and he will Fornit some Fornus like a flexible bullet.
Mine the capacitor is bad, and I can't see the numbers on it to actually get another one. I tried to zoom in on yours and it blurred like the blur cam 😆
Nice quick fix but I was waiting for you to say stupid game and with the drum sticks been thrown over your shoulder I was laughing 😂 love it see you soon 👍😊
I had the problem with all of the guitar hero stuff, being funny with certain batteries. They were always extremely picky with rechargeable ones. I just found that the cheap poundland ones mostly worked. I realise I'm typing this only minutes into the video, even before a fix....
Wireless drums don't even make sense. It's not like you're gonna run around the room while drumming. Back in the day, I put a micro USB port in mine, so I could stop wasting batteries. And I also wired a switch so I could make the orange cymbal act as the green pad, so it would work on the older Rock Band games. RB3 made it redundant, since it already registered orange as green. These crappy wires also like to come out of the piezo sensors under the pads. And these cymbals like to crack. So does the pedal. Or maybe i get a little too excited when I play.
Stupid Drums
I wish at the end of your videos instead of saying "Get in." you said "Get out."
@@stephen33 Why? The saying is "Get In there" or "Get In" for short. I'm guessing you from the U.S.A? Language barrier.

Unironically enjoying the 80s glam style music choice.
That little chuckle of satisfaction, I know that one but with writing software, it's lovely when your efforts pay off!
I wish all youtube ads were as good as the raps, i’d watch em all
I hope next time you have a more difficult fix, because i like watching you fix stuff ❤
I've been taking mine apart, fixing it and modding it for 16 years now and they still work great!
Nothing better than watching a Big Kid Enjoy themselves 😂
It's these so honest yet simple fixes that are the best fixes of all :D

😅 thanks Vince!
Hi Steve, I would recommend some sort of pitch correction for the singing. Melodyne for instance.
Literally had the exact issue with the drums I pulled out of my shed last week. This video helped so much! Thank you!
Mine had the same issue, fixed it while my friends were over real quick after checkin ur vid and it worked!! Huge thanks, no wonder im already subscribed
great video. My fave was the drums in Rock band I would play for hours. I might have to go dig mine out of the garage. 😊❤️
That song selection is great...

I hope big clive finds your pub, and buys you a pint
He will sodomise him. Clive likes fat chubs.
Finally a fix right up my alley! Been fixing these things since rock band 1s drum kit. Unlike the guitars the drums broke so easily. Great video!
I once took the brain out of one of these and wired it up so I could attached it to a midi drum kit. It was so professional, I had to use an ice cream tub and parcel tape for the case. Complete overkill but it worked quite nicely 😁
There was an official MIDI adapter for Rock Band 3 haha
Yeah but where’s the fun? 😂
To be fair, the kit was broke from GH Metallica so before the midi pro came out. Godsend when they eventually released it.
Crazy fun fix 😅😅😅😅
NIIIICE
Love the song.
Interesting to see how many different high quality cams you are using...
Music in this video was top notch Stez! Haha Loved it
Loved the rock music.
Best game ever. I have the guitars and always want to try the drums. Nice fix .👍
Love the Jersey
Oh the irony of having drums for a game called Guitar Hero. Great fix as usual.
Nicely done Steve!
I am from brazil. I like your videos
👍👍 loved the patreon music today
Love your style, mate - I keep coming back to your channel and am never disappointed!
Love it, keep on drumming!
I was never partial to the rap, and the song today was a breath of fresh air.
YAY !!
Yeah 🤟🏼
Nice fix. Real electric kits were the way to go back in the day.
Nice fix friend😅😅😅
song was much better today stez, more of this please
Well done. Big reservoir capacitor for big splurges (technical term) when Van Halen kicks in.
A little bit useless in that location considering the tiny wires going to the board.
Bit of a design oversight.
@@samuraidriver4x4 Possibly, though (guesswork on my part for these drums) any current spike would be very short duration (you would get away with small wires only under those circumstances) and the cap (which looks like an afterthought bodge) would partially reduce the consequent voltage dip.
Quite a variety of different cameras you have.
Love the non-rap 😀😀😀
Beauty Steve! 👍
Nice job!
*GET IN!*
Is the capacitor to store and supply power whilst avoiding interrupts from the drumming causing the kit to bounce around a lot?
Yep. That's exactly what it's for. They're in the guitars too.
*SOLID ROCKIN VIDEO*
Love your work and that face!
you hit it again!
Rock & Roll!

Another great video my friend, have you ever worked on a smartwatch? As I've got on that doesn't work.
I hope we can get an album with all the "opening devices" songs one day 🤩

Rockin’ the music choice this time (and I do like the raps as well)
Lets go back Marty😄
Would love your feedback on a video about how long these electronic devices live for. They seem to have short life spans.

That was "Some white hair in the closeup cam" ... glad I'm not alone 😂
That's one way to drum up views! Nicely done!
very nice really like your vids keep it up Greetings from the netherlands :)
My best guess is the capacitor has something to do with the fact that the switches on the drums only activate in the range of milliseconds.
You are my inspiration :)
Love it!
You do some really interesting stuff, Between you, Vince & 12voltvids I have fixed a few bits and pieces, keep it & you are the most entertaining Haha
The capacitor bridges short interruptions of the batteries when hitting the drums. Otherwise, the risk of the "controller" going out would be high.
And then use tiny wire gauge between the batteries/cap and the board?
Putting the cap on the pcb would be a better solution and a spending a bit more on decent wires.
