The dead shrubs look like box being attacked by the box tree caterpillar. The caterpillars (moths) are devastating box plants in the U.K. at the moment. My neighbour has cut his box plants down to just above ground level and they have started shooting again but I have no idea if they will grow back successfully. Off camera you will have to practice your lawn edge strimming. Tyler from ‘Mowing for Mental Health’ has made this an art form but he does run his own gardening business so has had a lot of lawns to train on. Edging lawns is good to watch and also good for the reveal at the end as it just finishes off the transformation when it is done correctly. You have a good eye on trimming the shrubs and keep them in shape.
Interesting - thank you for the knowledge. My mother commented suggesting it could be box blight but you're definitely right. I will do a series of revisiting past project in the near future and tackle these bushes accordingly!
You did a really good job! Your work on the shrub’s looks amazing. I’m sure the lady appreciated your work tremendously. That’s why I never pay until the work is done, no ✅ for completion, no 💰.
If you tie a loose square knot in the ends of your power cords, before you plug them together, they don't come apart as easily. This trick saves me a lot of stops and starts.
An electric strimmer can be turned vertically to cut straight clean lawn edges. Tie a reef knot where your hedge trimmer plug meets the power cord, that will stop it from falling or pulling out.
New subscriber here and loving your work. England has some of the most beautiful gardens. One request if I may……..like to see more clean edges. Might be a lil difficult with your edger. But makes a huge difference. Thanks for helping those that are struggling.
Thank you for watching and commenting - I do my best to tackle gardens with a bit of variety (cutting, trimming, mowing etc), ultimately it comes down to who needs help! Thanks again.
Restoring faith in humanity one garden at a time, another satisfying watch!
Appreciate you!

A strong tip, thank you!
@@GardensofEdan I learned it from a friend that was a contractor. Experience is the best teacher!
My husband used to do that.

Thank you for watching!
I think I would have dug out those three dead bushes and edged. Good effort.
Totally agree, I thought they might have a chance at the time but see now... they were indeed past it!
Great work!
Thank you!
Something very satisfying about working with electric trimmers! Nice job 😊
I've been contemplating upgrading to petrol but now you've said this...
