    Awesome review! I’m really torn between these and the Altai’s. I mainly do narrow-ish tree runs/off piste, and I’m a speed demon on groomers. (I board in powdery Nagano, Japan) I was attracted to the stiffness of the Altai’s but also pretty rough on my gear so hesitant about the EVA soles. Do you think the Rift will suit my needs? (Also looking at the K2 Maysis boots)

      Yeah tough call. I think the Rift might be a little too soft for you as I found both the Rift and Rift Lace a little softer/less responsive than the Maysis. Maysis is a great boot. If going Nidecker and you like speed/stiffness take a look at the Kita. Also consider the K2 Orton, Holgate and possibly the thraxis as well. Hit me up here if you want to get into more detail. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Just got a pair, holy crap these are comfy right out of the box and so light. I'm not sure what the lower red pull tab is for though?

      Great to hear. For other readers what is your boot size and width? If you know your arch and instep even better. The red tab at the bottom inside the boot? If memory serves me correct, that is to pull up the lace around the liner to get your foot out.

      @@thegoodridesnow ahhh that makes sense it’s kinda awkward to get at but I understand the function now. Thanks! I’m a size 8.5 I used the print out sheet on their website and it worked out.

    How would you compare these to the Ride fuse for response? Ride Fuse was very responsive for me but my ankles hate the cutouts in the liner.

      more response for sure and more support at the top of the boot with the Fuse. Less shock absorption though. I think the Rift BOA and Lace are more park/freestyle oriented.

    I am thinking to change my Northwave Edge for something more stiff and was looking at Rift or Altai - how do they compare?

      Altai review coming soon. Just soo behind. Rift is not as stiff but it will retain it's flex longer and it has rubber throughout the sole where the Altai doesn't. So if you ride a lot and want a good medium flexing boot that will keep it's flex a long time I'd go Rift. I can't stop thinking about this boot and I'm considering making it my daily driver.

    Would this shoe work with Union Atlas + Jones Frontier for some all-mountain freeriding or is it too soft for that?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад +1

      If you like and own a med/stiff to stiff boot now then I would pass. If you like a more medium flex that will stay that way a long time this could work. It really comes down to personal preference.

    Thoughts on the altai boot? Stiffer flex, lower price point than the rift.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад +1

      We have a review coming soon! Definetly stiffer but i like the longevity of the flex retention and mid flexing ride but if you like a stiffer flexing boot that could work. The rift also has better traction too

    I have Adidas
    The next boot is considering this
    What do you think?
    Is it possible to maintain footprint reduction?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад

      Its not as reduced as the earlier Adidas models but close to the later models before they pulled the plug. This isn't as supportive at the top though compared to the Tactical ADV or Response. If you had the Samba or Superstar this will be close.

    I tried the Kita, and it felt like my medial malleolus was rammed up against a hard flat surface of the boot.

      @@thegoodridesnow Oh yeah, I forgot an important part about my experience with the Kita, the website recommend me a 11.5, I ordered an 11, I think I would have been able to fit into a 10.5. Unfortunately, don't know if the lasting is the same between their boots. The line up is a bit frustrating, you can only get the extra heel hold features and what they imply are their best liners on the most expensive and stiffest boots.
