Just started snowboarding again this season after a 10 year hiatus haha. Wow the amount of knowledge that I got from your videos really helps. Wish I knew all of this 10 years ago (I literally gave up snowboarding due to huge discomfort with my feet in my boots and wiping out a lot leading to pain). Thanks man.
This was the perfect refresher course for me. I haven't snowboarded in over 15 years and I'm going to get back into it this year. Thank you for the great advice. 👍
Hey Kevin, so glad you made this video! I've just has my first 3 days of the season this week and they have been the best 3 days of snowboarding in my life because of the all the advice you've given when it comes to snowboard boots in your past videos. Last season I had a brand new pair of 32 Lashed boots size 9.5 (my normal shoe size that I wear) and after about 15 days of riding them It was unbearable to even go up the chairlift one time. I rented for the rest of the season, but did my research, and purchased a pair of Vans Hi Standard Pro boots size 7.5 (my foot size on a Brannock Device). I had some discomfort when breaking these boots in, I think from overtightening them like how I used to with the old boots, but had a few days over the summer to get ready for the season at Big Snow in NJ, and now after a few full days on the mountain, they feel great. Anyone who is buying snowboard boots needs to watch this video and measure their foot the way I did!
Also I forgot to mention but without the distraction of all the foot pain from the old boots, I feel that my riding is just overall a lot better than I even thought it would be by now. This week I literally went from only riding regular to throwing 180s.
What type of pain was it you were having if you don’t mind me asking mate. I have really wide feet. Went for half a down from my shoes size (32 tk-2 wide) after about a weeks riding my ties were absolutely killing even just stood there. Only way to stop the pain was bend my toes they were just being crushed at the end
@@RobCottam I always seem to need a half size larger in snowboard boots than shoes. If you have a wide foot I would suggest the K2 Maysis. Tried those on today in a 10.5 which is what I always wear in boots and they felt super wide.
My homie is the manager of a shop here in Colorado. I stopped by and he measured my feet and had me try a few recommended boots. I ended up getting the Rome Bodega double Boa. With a 20% friend discount! I was using some old burtons my friend let me borrow this year, but I knew I needed to upgrade to good pair of boots to complete my setup.
Today I the got aura pros!Man I don’t know if it was placebo effect or more skill building, but i was really consistent with carving and less crashing. Felt really confident with my skill overall!! Look Good, Ride Good 🤙
I measured my feet and bought the boots that fit my feet true to size, for me that’s 26cm which was a size 8 from Ride. I got the double boa because I like the new technology and it solved my problem of having heel lift. In previous years I rode a size 10 boot and could never really feel comfortable. True to size is always the way to go for me.
I’m confused as I’m new to this. I measured my foot and it’s about 22.5cm. The Burton boot says the boot is 23cm mondo. Would this be a good fit? is 23 referring to the foot size or the size of the boot?
@@kathypear2540 Oh no problem, I’m happy to help. Mondo sizing is just the size of your foot in centimetres or millimetres so in this case your feet are 22.5 (cm) or 225 (mm) - According to the burton website you should be wearing a size 5.5 women’s boot. Hope this helps! See you on the mountain.

Snowboard boot sizing is nuts anymore. It took me 3 tries before I found the right size for my Burton Step-On's. I typically wear a 9, sometimes a 9.5 and landed on a size 10 snowboard boot that still seemed a bit snug but had enough toe room to be comfortable.
I agree with you on the last point because my old boots where 20$ and they hurt my feet and where softer than a normal boot and I got hand me down boots from my sister who use to snowboard 10 years ago and they are amazing
Seems you will find an array of different experiences and opinions when it comes to boots. But i guess foot size and shape will vary quite a bit between individuals... Personally ive now had two pairs of boots with Burtons Speed Lace system with hardly any problems. I like them and would get them again. Before that had traditional laces and for me found they took way longer to do up, more difficult to get consistently tight and the laces tore up my fingers after a while. But each to their own... i know loads of people who love them and loads more that would never have anything other than BOAs... Its all foot type and personal preference.
Definitely hate traditional lace. I find I can never get the top zone tight enough. I like boa the best, especially in the backcountry for being able to quickly loosen the top and if it does break, I always have some ski straps to get it through until I can get back to safety.
6:40 I have similar design boots (32 tm2 xlt laced) and seems no matter what I do I can’t get the boot to wrap around my upper shin at the top of the boot completely. Always end up with air gap between liner and front of shin, especially if I point my feet down. Was an issue on last pair of boots too. Liner goes on my shin nice and solid at first, but by time boots are done up, an air gap is presented (quite a bit, 1/4” plus). The power strap doesn’t cinch that down. Super annoying, have no idea how to avoid this
actually I just tried again and if I do them up while standing I get better results. When I’m sitting and tighten them, as soon as I stand I look down and the liner is all warped weird and not hugging my shin
Nice guide. I'd add that anyone worried about their knees should go for softer boots but anyone worried about their ankles should go stiffer. Having just come off a nasty ankle injury and with a history of ankle injuries from other sports I've just gone for a much stiffer boot than I've used previously.
I've been riding the Adidas Samba the past couple of years, and love them. Now that Adidas is out of this game, what would you recommend that is a close fit and feel to the Samba? Thanks!
I never tried the Adidas boots but you may want to look at the Solomon SJ team, they are pretty comfortable and supportive and have a boa to lock in your heels but are lace for the rest of the boot to adjust overall fit/feel
Is it normal to feel your big toe to hit the liner when you're standing straight up with no bend in the knee? It goes away if I add a slight bend in the knee
So I’m looking at getting a couple of different styles of the vans snow board boots. What would be a good flex for someone getting back into snowboarding park and street and all mountain and what’s your opinion on liner less boots?
Not necessarily. Bindings typically come in three different sizes Small, Medium or Large. The company that makes the binding will usually have a sizing guide that recommends a range of boot sizes for each binding size.
Go to a Good snowboard shop and get boots fitted properly, Never choose a boot on how it looks, a Good boot fitter will know all the different niche fits and how each boot fits (some are narrow and some are wider) and they will measure you up good, i can't stress enough, don't buy boots that "look cool" no one cares. buy what fits the best/fits your riding style

I’m looking for a board that’ll suit me well as a beginner, but also as i’m progressing. I’m kinda just looking at burton, because there’s so many to choose from in other brands. Could you help me on giving me advice what the best suitable board would be for me?
Any thoughts on the Burton Photon BOA boots? Also curious to know why you switched from BOA to traditional laces. I’ve been riding traditional lace Burton Sabbaths for many years but am planning to upgrade.
Do i need to go half size down on the infuse ? seems like vans already go half size down but called it the same size as your normal vans shoe ? I pulled out the insole to measure along my normal shoe and its half size smaller. But i wonder if i should also go from 11.5 to 11 on my infuse boots .Thank you
Boots get softer over time as the materials start to break down and conform to the constant movement. It's normal and unavoidable. Anything will break with enough use.

Hi Kevin, Hope all is well. I am in the market for these boots because they look unreal and fit the bill for everything that I need. I have seen in so many videos that Vans boots run true to size of that of the sneaker you wear. In this case I would be a US10/UK9 and then from this video and going with Mondo fitting I would be a US9/UK8 - Any light on this? My Mondo is 272mm but this is caught right in the middle of 27 and 27.5 on the sizing chart which would be US9/US9.5 - Any light on this would be good. Or if anyone else sees this comment and has these boots and wants to comment on the fit of them that would be great! :D Thanks for the videos! Andy
I just picked up snowboarding and I’m looking for some guidance on my first board. I’m 6’1” 180lbs and wear a size 12 boot in the Burton Imperial. Would you suggest a wide or normal board?
Your boot length will be 32 cm, that being said a board with at least 26.5 up to 27 cm waist would be perfect to not run into limitations later on.. with my us13/33cm boot length (ION) I find my sweet spot at around 27.5-28cm waist width to not get booted out when carving deep...as a beginner you might be able to start a little lower than 26.5 but why would you? Just to buy wider boards later on?
@@MustyRusty5 much appreciated. Since we’re a similar build, what length board do you ride? I have a friend my size that prefers a 158cm but based on the charts I see it seems like a 161cm would be best for me.
Great video! I've run into a slight problem. I live in the midwest with 1 ski shop in my area with minimal selection so I'll likely have to order multiple pairs online and return a few. My bigger issue is I have small feet for an adult man. I wear a 6.5-7.5 normal shoe depending on who makes it, and almost every boot starts at 7. I feel like I need a 6 or 6.5 to have a good fit. I've found a few different models but all are BOA and mostly base models. Will companies typically have more stock in all sizes when the new line comes out? Or will my options be limited? I'd love some suggestions since I ride a decent amount and my boots are a pain point.
Last year i paid $450 for boots all signs you said were true i have used these boots 6x i hate them they cramp my feet give me blisters always too tight but still slip my feet are numb i am done after 3 hours in them
Great content Kev! Got new boots, same mondo size (27,5cm) as my other footwear. This season I was on mountain 10days give or take. My great toe was hitting since the day 1. While I am riding I have no problems at all, but when I have to walk its painful experience :S At the end of the day my toe is killing me :D So basically when I am in stance I am perfectly fine, but when I am standing or walking its getting unpleasant. I was told that boots will break after a while, but not sure if I should start to worry and watch for new pair or be patient and just wait them to break? :D Thanks in advance, and keep up with great content!

I just got the K2 cosmo snowboarding boot.. I typically wear 7.5 shoe but I asked for a 6.5..I wore them for 40 minutes in the house and my toes went numb..do you think this is the wrong size for me? my toes just graze the front and my heel feels nice and snug..any suggestions.?
it's weird, everything i read they say soft for park?, i mean jibbing sure..... but i find it way easier to spin/jump/ollie with the stiffest possible, max energy transfer to the board.... also landing jumps more solid, soft seems to wash out way more..... weird.
I was skeptical of the Burton Speed Zone lace system, but in my experience they almost guarantee optimal tightening. It's practically impossible to over-tighten, which is often the problem with Boa or traditional.
Having the same problem choosing a size too, I’m a 9 in normal vans, measured my foot 26cm, recommend size is an 8 from the mondo sizing chart, im stuck in between just going with an 8 or 8.5 to be in the safe side..
@@JUNEBUGZ_04 I just got my 8.5 in today, right off the jump after putting them on they fit perfect, I’ve been wearing them all day around my home and haven’t had any pain or pressure points, again I’m a 9 in normal vans, if I would’ve sized down to an 8 I feel like I would’ve had some discomfort, these are going to pack out to a 9 forsure, I’d definitely say just go with the size 9 for you 👍🏼

Sick boot other than that though.
@@jcoxdj this years model?
@@fasdglkads I had last years he had this years. The only difference was colour this year
so to get that snugness we need to order boots that are 1cm smaller in size than normal? Thats a lot :))
I got a pretty wide foot and wear a 9.5 in vans. should I get a 9.5
do you have a good to between the vans high standard pro and the vans invados pro?
Hi Kevin,
Hope all is well. :D
Thanks for the videos!
Andy
I have very comfortable boots but they are almost 15 years old. Should I buy new ones or not?
15 years God Daamn !!
I just picked up snowboarding and I’m looking for some guidance on my first board. I’m 6’1” 180lbs and wear a size 12 boot in the Burton Imperial. Would you suggest a wide or normal board?
Definitely a wide board would be best for u bud
Your boot length will be 32 cm, that being said a board with at least 26.5 up to 27 cm waist would be perfect to not run into limitations later on.. with my us13/33cm boot length (ION) I find my sweet spot at around 27.5-28cm waist width to not get booted out when carving deep...as a beginner you might be able to start a little lower than 26.5 but why would you? Just to buy wider boards later on?
Buy wide. I run 10.5s with a wide burton custom and large burton cartels and there's no chance I would fit on a non-wide. I'm also 6'1 180lb
@@MustyRusty5 much appreciated. Since we’re a similar build, what length board do you ride? I have a friend my size that prefers a 158cm but based on the charts I see it seems like a 161cm would be best for me.
@@adamrutledge839 I ride a 158 but depends on the board. Wide also has a different size chart so double check that. What are you getting?
Same boat for me, need a 6-6.5. I have the vans standard og in 7 and I have heel lift in them. What did you end up doing?
@@snicks9840try women’s sizes. No dh shit
@@Fast-twitch03 do they fit narrower?
@@snicks9840 no clue I got some wide ass feet and where men’s stuff. But if I were u I’d go to your local ski shop and just see what u can find
Last year i paid $450 for boots all signs you said were true i have used these boots 6x i hate them they cramp my feet give me blisters always too tight but still slip my feet are numb i am done after 3 hours in them
I had this problem and a custom foot bed liner fixed it. I have high arch’s
:D Thanks in advance, and keep up with great content!
have you tried thermomoulding? rei offers it for free i think
@@toastynap you mean heat molding? I have no rei anywhere near, I am based in EU :) but I am not sure if I have to do heat molding yet or wait more for them to break? :D
@@XstekkahX depends how many days you spend on the mt per year, if it’s around 20 then heat molding would be nice but if it’s upwards of 100+ then you should wait it out
@@XstekkahX REI have a great video on how to heat mould at home also.
What’s your opinion on linerless boots for a beginner? Like the vans hi standard linerless
Haven’t tried them out, but cool idea!
26cm measured foot, recommended size is 8 for vans snowboarding boots, should I order an 8.5 to be on the safe side? Or just go with the 8?
What did u end up going with? I just ordered a 9.5 in the standard vans boots, normally a size 9 in regular shoes so I want to make sure I’ll be good.
@ you should’ve went with your standard shoe size, 9, you don’t really want any extra room for your toes, the hi standards to packed out to half a size up after a full season forsure
@ I also went with a 8.5, this season i sized down to an 8
@ Alr dope I’ll reorder rn and get the 9s then preciate it
I just got the K2 cosmo snowboarding boot.. I typically wear 7.5 shoe but I asked for a 6.5..I wore them for 40 minutes in the house and my toes went numb..do you think this is the wrong size for me? my toes just graze the front and my heel feels nice and snug..any suggestions.?
if toes go numb its not a good sign imo, a whole size down from typical wear could be too much, try 7?
Hi Kevin what size are your boots? And they fit like your shoes number or I have to choose a different number?
Thank you
Hi mate do vans boots work well for wide feet ?
it's weird, everything i read they say soft for park?, i mean jibbing sure..... but i find it way easier to spin/jump/ollie with the stiffest possible, max energy transfer to the board.... also landing jumps more solid, soft seems to wash out way more..... weird.
Who makes a stiff boot in wide widths?
Honest brother
I was skeptical of the Burton Speed Zone lace system, but in my experience they almost guarantee optimal tightening. It's practically impossible to over-tighten, which is often the problem with Boa or traditional.
For me I’ve broken to many speed zone laces to go back. Always a pain to warranty or replace.
I've just bought the Vans Histandard OG, but my foot hurts, any tip?
Anywhere specific?
@@SnowboardProCamp on the outside before the little finger, on both feet
Boas aren't hard to change it's just your mentality that makes things easier or harder
Any boot becomes water proof with some household wax 🖖🏻
i want to get the high standard pros but there sold out everywhere so im not sure what size to get im a 9.5 so i would get a 8.5?
Having the same problem choosing a size too, I’m a 9 in normal vans, measured my foot 26cm, recommend size is an 8 from the mondo sizing chart, im stuck in between just going with an 8 or 8.5 to be in the safe side..
@@97till_ yea im stuck too because im 9.5 but idk if i want to get a 9 to be safe but they do grow out over time
@@JUNEBUGZ_04 I just got my 8.5 in today, right off the jump after putting them on they fit perfect, I’ve been wearing them all day around my home and haven’t had any pain or pressure points, again I’m a 9 in normal vans, if I would’ve sized down to an 8 I feel like I would’ve had some discomfort, these are going to pack out to a 9 forsure, I’d definitely say just go with the size 9 for you 👍🏼
@@97till_ sounds good bro i think that’s what i’m about to do and walk around thanks man good luck and have fun on the mountains bro🤙🏽
Anyone have the vans aura pro boots? I have terrible pain with them. It feels like something is digging into the front top part of my ankle.
why do people flex boots towards the toe to check how soft/stiff they are? the lateral flex is what matters.
my boots were too big and got looser as i ride and i sprained my ankle this weekend....
Love your videos mate. Hope you are still enjoying the 'Strapins'. If you need some more hit me up :-)
