Thanks for watching! I'll be making a "camping fears" video about solo camping sometime in the next month or so. Reply to this comment if you have any questions or concerns about camping alone that I can address.
My greatest fear on the road and in remote areas or small towns in the west is the two-legged one. Take that out of the equation, and there are no fears. Another, for older nomads is medical emergencies.
I dont have concerns wwhen camping in a campground, its the urban camping that I do because in the back of your mond you know youre breaking the law so the ubiquitous "knock at the door" is always in the back of my mind. So the more noise I hear outside-the lighter the sleep I get,. And sometimes I end up falling asleep and having a dream that I got THE KNOCK...smh. Ill use ear plugs when appropriate.
SUV RVing , glad to hear about the upcoming fears video. I can see how sleeping over in the remote areas of southern Utah would feel safe. I live in Indiana. I’m wanting to do some test runs in our here in our National Forest. It isn’t remote by desert standards and I worry about meth users and such. As I consider an alone trip back to Utah, I worry about having an accident in the middle of no where. You do some scary climbs my friend! But I truly am working toward doing this trip back to Utah and living in my Jeep. The build is almost done. You have worked out so many of the problems. Thank you!
Im not alone right now, but I know sooner or later I prob will be. My question would be if boondocking would be safer than a cracker barrel, Walmart or pilot? 😊
Oh! I met her at WRTR! If you see that message, hi Three! So generous woman that gave me two bottles of butane! Thank you again! Hope I see you again on the road!
You are the first person I’ve seen with a fire extinguisher. Smart lady! I lost everything in the world including my dog in a house fire. Make sure to get it checked once a year. Happy travels!
It never ceases to amaze me as to the creativity of humans. I applaud every person who thinks outside of the box. Humans are amazing in what they are capable of accomplishing. 👾👏👏👏
@John Smith I agree with you. I have never been on any trip by myself where I was not ogled or harassed by men, it is a sad but true fact. I've awakened to men pounding on my vehicle trying to get in and at rest stops staring at me constantly. I can't even get out to stretch my legs, it's disgusting. This is something never shared in these videos.
I'm converting my '16 RAV into my retirement microRV and "3" has given me some very good ideas! I like the ceiling storage and her organization! Thanks, 3!!
I look so hard for survival, SHTF, busch crafting, and grayman techniques... where Three has done everything I've been trying to construct in my head. Absolutely amazing lady! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for sharing this experience and interview!
I miss my first Rav4. Sadly it was taken out by a reckless driver. But I did spend a solid 2 weeks up in the mountains of Montana while I still had it. My set up was very close to how you have yours. So for nostalgic sake. I bought another Rav4. Let the adventures continue!!
There are a few minimalistic things I did find that would ease the mind when being off grid. (Especially in extreme remote areas with little to no cell service) I will be picking up a small jump pack. I did purchase a high speed dual usb charger that goes into the blanks beside the cigarette lighter. It also has a digital voltage meter so i can see where the batteries are at so i don't accidentally kill the battery. (Don't wanna be stranded) And lastly, i am looking for a small flexible solar panel to keep the battery charged along with providing additional power for auxiliary fans and such. I did find a rather amazing portable power pack that has 25000 mah and is also solar rechargeable. It's about the same size as my galaxy s7. Very happy with that investment. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
Bravo. Not something I would care to do solo at 65. However thank you so much for sharing. Glad I retired at 23 and just let it rip back in the 70’s so I never have to wonder. I do miss being young. Do Not Wait!
Yeah a Toyota from the 90s with 80k is an absolute brand new gem, my rav4 of this exact same generation but year 2000 lasted 175k miles with ZERO ISSUES until a free range cow decided to walk into my life in rural Utah. Still love this gen of Rav4s to death, I plan to get another one day as a second/toy adventure car
yeh 2005 rav4 me also. I'm in U.K...71.000miles ..on clock which is nothing it was the top of range when new £20.000 (uk pounds) I paid £3.000 for it LUVVLY JUBBLY!!!.......I just do weeks away when weather is nice.... take rear seats out put 5 plastic containers with food etc. down the one side and a 2.5" foam mattress on top for bed ..there's still room for my electric Haibike sduro down the other side or even on a bike carrier over the spare wheel.....I also take a "utility tent" which is 6foot square and 6foot high which I can set up a table and cooker etc. if needed..The beauty of car camping is if its raining or you're just staying overnight the car turns into your apartment..Well done on what you are doind...Thanks for the vid
She is doing it right. Just what normal people need to see. A break from those rigs that all cost $60,000 to $200,000 to sleep in. Those discourage people a lot. This is very practical. Gives normal people joy to watch. People should support this woman. Even send her money for a tank of gas. She drives a Honda. That gas tank is $25 to $30 to fill it up. If you like what she is doing, send her atleast a tank of gas! She is doog something great that normal people can relate to.
Just shows you don't need to throw a load of money at it with fancy SUV and kit. A sense of adventure and get up and go is what you need like the lady in the vid. great stuff.
Props to her organizational skills, her minimalist mindset and her enthusiasm. I could never in a million years live like that though. I've got two large dogs who wouldn't go for it.
Great use of space! Love this. Your 2 levels allows for so much more storage space and uses otherwise wasted space. I guess it's really 3 levels, with the upper storage net. Nice job!
She is very committed to the Rav4/"Home on Wheels" concept and has applied clever, well thought out ideas to make it happen. Toyota should hire her as an "ideas" person or design engineer (but they probably wouldn't be able to get her to leave the beach life.)
Great, economical set-up! If I could dedicate my cr-v to camping I'd remove all but the driver's seat. I'd love to have space to chill out inside that's not behind the steering wheel. That would also free up space to use the camp toilet indoors! Those middle-of-the-night nature calls are one of my "camping fears".
Very neat, smart and super good. The bed converts to a table, so it has multiple uses. Humans are designed that way also. For instance the mouth is used to eat. The mouth is used to breath. The mouth is used to speak. Those are quite different functions by one device.
I'm from the Chicagoland area. The winters there can get bitter cold. Being on the lake, it can get bone chilling. Without heat, one could freeze to death in a vehicle.
I love the set up the bed converting to be the counter top very cleaver. Also she took the maximum space removing the front. passager seat. She can sit comfortably behind the front seat nice.
I like how this chic has really thought out her space - she has a solution for everything. Not necessarily the solutions I'd have chosen but some really great and PRACTICAL ideas
Just bought a beautiful, elderly-driven 2000 model with just over 100k miles; like yours brand new used, successfully test driven from Los Angeles to Bishop. Will use this as reference and inspiration for my own Vagabond Vehicle.
Okay, this is cool. But I am most impressed that she does her own oil changes. I have a minivan micocamper conversion and I need to learn how. Those oil changes rack up.
Succinct, info-packed, well-produced overview video. I wish all #vanlife overview videos were this lean. Adding meat to the bones is for follow-up videos. Speaking of which, any more with 3? I’d love to hear how she organizes space and a bit more background on specific aspects.
Yes please do solo women camping video. I have always camped in camping grounds with others. I just want to get over that fear of what is out in the woods that is watching. I know if I just do it couple of times it will be good thanks for your videos.
Wow she makes it look easy! I’m saddened that I missed the RTR this year I had all the plans in the world to go but life got in the way, I’m 2 1/2 months out from retirement and I’m taking June and July off looking to drive from Salt Lake City to Idaho to Montana to Banff and Jasper with my little pull behind trailer and my two dogs and anybody that wants to join me. Again, so many great people out on the road, I may have a difficult time going back to work part time. Thanks for a another great video!

Do you carry equipment to let the authorities know your location, if need be? If so, what do you recommend? Also, are you equipped with solar?

WOW! She is so organized and positive...thanks for sharing.
Beach3Girl I agree
She has great energy. She lives minimally, disciplined and its efficient. Puts 90% of the population to shame. Im 57 and I want to give it a shot.
I agree with you. She seems to be doing this right. Not the over $100,000 rigs we see with some fancy people.
Go Tanya! I'm 56. We can do it, post covid.
I m 56swm and I also plan on this I have slide in popup for my pickup, want to do some over landing around az,Utah, your never to old go for it.

What a smart way to have a place to work/cook/eat and then have as a sleeping platform. Very nice!
I love the sleep platform that make also the counter top
I love her spirit, frugality, and efficient use of space.
Whoa I have the same Rav4 and I live in it full time !!! So cool to see this. 🌻❤️
Please read the comment I just made about my empty house on this video.
I just love people like her. She is my inspiration.
I love the overhead storage area. Great idea.
Best micro camper video i,ve seen so far, good going girl!
I particularly like her quick description of what is where. Good job.
I like her ideas, and how she systematically went down the list of showing things and explaining purpose.
It is like when you ask you kids to show you their fort. :) So proud and happy to share. Your rock young lady.

Wow one of the most impressive conversions! Thanks for finding her.
When do you ever hear someone call a vehicle with 80,000 miles a “brand new car”? She’s a special person. 💚
When it's a toyota. It basically is barely broken in.
Yeah a Toyota from the 90s with 80k is an absolute brand new gem, my rav4 of this exact same generation but year 2000 lasted 175k miles with ZERO ISSUES until a free range cow decided to walk into my life in rural Utah. What a great use of space. I thought we were doing good just being able to sleep in our Rav. 3 takes it to a whole new level!
...side note, the RTR was such an awesome experience for us. We've enjoyed an amazing family of folks that came from attending that event.

great interview, efficient, to the point, thank you for sharing.
Fantastic to see the 1st generation of RAV4, which I also just owned two months ago.
