I feel like what really happened was that we ran into a team that peaking, while we're still rebuilding. And maybe we needed the wake-up call to that point.
Well, Green Bay had a game plan. Run to set up the pass, build a lead and make Seattle predictable. They were ready for the pass rush and it seems played harder.
Geno is genuinely that dude, this showed Seattle has to draft a QB. If 7 had a line he would light this game up. If they don’t have Geno, they don’t have a chance.
Idk what the hell Grubb was thinking when Geno had only thrown 19 passes by the time he went down and then Howell immediately comes in and throws 14! They abandoned the run outside of the td after the turnover.
Any "fan" that actually hopes their team tanks, ever, is not really a fan. There's no situation where you should ever want your team to lose. Quarterback savior draft picks hardly ever work out. There's so much more involved in the equation. It didn't work out for the Browns fans that celebrated Baker Mayfield, or the Bears fans that celebrated Mitch Trubisky (passing on Mahomes), or even the Jags fans that got once-in-a-decade talent Trevor Lawrence. Also remember "tank for Tua"? Lol. Would you ever want your college team to lose a game for any reason? This whole "we should tank for a draft pick" argument is so stupid. I watched the Houston Texans fire a coach for not tanking, which meant they had to settle on CJ Stroud instead of Bryce Young.

I don't buy the whole: "He was thrown into the starting position mid game so it's not fair to judge him." You're being PAID as a backup, that's your job to expect and be prepared for that. What are you just on the sidelines watching YP and YT and munching on potato chips and then you're like, "ME, COACH!? BUT BUT!" Give me a break. I remember sometimes Seattle would be playing against a terrible starting QB (maybe just having an off day anyway, or dealing with a lingering injury that resurfaced), they'd get injured and I was like, "OH NO...." And sure enough the 2nd string came in and beat us. I think it was Schaub where that happened. There's other instances as well. Let's not also forget the Packers have one of the worst pressure/hurry rates in the NFL. Howell made them look like the 2007 Giants DL.

Geno's knee injury last night coupled with Howell's awful performance just cemented that John and Mike will re-sign Geno this coming offseason, and I'll bet that they are regretting not extending Geno this past offseason ( it would have been cheaper compared to extending Geno this coming offseason ) because they probably thought that Howell would at least be decent after learning the Seahawks' new system in training camp, pre-season, and 14 regular season Seahawks' games under his belt, and Howell's bad pathetic performance last night just proved how valuable Geno is to this Seahawks team.
No one's signing Geno for north of $35 million. His leverage is that they won't have to teach a new QB the system. That's it.
8 часов назад
@@fantahsyking I don't know how much John and Mike are willing to pay Geno to re-sign him, but what other alternatives do they have? They already found out last night that Howell is not the answer, and no elite QB is coming to Seattle unless Seattle is lucky enough to draft one, and those that are decent FA QBs, like Kirk Cousins, how much did ATL have to fork over to sign Cousins? And I would take Geno over Cousins any day. Unless Seattle completely tanks and is the worst team in 2025, Seattle doesn't have a shot at Arch Manning in the 2026 NFL Draft. Seattle will most likely still draft QBs in the '25 and '26 drafts, but until a young QB emerges and becomes another young Seahawks franchise QB, like RW3, Geno will be the Seahawks' starter in the foreseeable future. Also, Geno's leverage is not just learning the Seahawks' system, but he knows that a lot of QBs can't survive with Seattle's bad O-line, let alone thrive in Seattle with that O-line.
I think Daniel Jones is better than Sam Howell. He made the Seahawks look like chumps a few weeks ago and he's sitting on the Vikings practice squad. I think Geno is good enough to win a title on a stacked roster, like Joe Flacco or Nick Foles, or maybe like the 49ers or Steelers currently. However I don't think he deserves some massive commitment if its inhibiying building out the roster.
if you need an all-star team to win, that actually means you need to be carried and are actually bad.... Geno is subpar in reality. Hawks fans just love the Aaron Rodgers feeling of 1 good play and ignore the bad plays that remove points.
Hey bro! Nah, he has no accountability. He's worked everywhere else he's been and in Seattle. We need to keep blaming the O-line and Grubb. Geno made no bad decisions last year when Grubb wasn't the offensive coordinator.
While I don’t think sam was necessarily given a chance considering it’s about to ask anyone, especially a dude with only a single year as a starter, to come in midway through a game in December behind the o-line we have and play calling grub is doing to be able to succeed. I can’t fault Howell for struggling. But I can fault him for struggling as bad as he did lol. He played BAD. It felt like each drive he was in felt more chaotic than the last. I feel bad for the situation he was put in. But even considering that, Howell did not play even close to good.
Let's not sugar coat this. It was an all around terrible game. This team no longer has home field advantage. And they aren't very good yes they have good plays here and there. But they're consistently not very good..
Back in the preseason, the first game Howell played, he looked really bad. But then, the next couple games, he came out and played well. I think there is a pretty good chance that he will play better next week if he has to start. I'm not too worried about it really, I just want to watch the games and see how the Seahawks do. If they are able to pick up the pieces and win the next 3 games and get into the playoffs, then great. If they are not, I'm okay with that too. Not really much point to get into the playoffs and just get beat in the first round; I'd rather they stay out and improve their draft position to be in a better position to make a run next year.

Are you comparing preseason games to regular-season games? That would be stupid because in preseason starters at most play a quarter and the coaches don't show their real game plans. The perfect example would be the 0-16 Detroit Lions who went 4-0 in the preseason.
What I'm saying is, Howell played poorly in the first preseason game and then played noticeably better in the next two. It isn't about comparing preseason to the regular season, it's that I think Howell's play will improve if he were to get a week of practice and go into the game knowing he is going to play.
You have one job as a backup QB and it's not to be good, it's to be ready. Howell was not ready to play, yes he's fully capable of playing ok football and being a backup, but last night he wasn't ready to play. I think what we learned last night is just a confirmation that John Schneider has neglected this offensive line and the QB position for far too long. We don't have the QB of the future (meaning after Geno) on this roster and I am not sure exactly how we are going to find it. We are going to have another 8-9 or 9-8, maybe 10 wins max season most likely and maybe miss the playoffs or be one and done. QB Purgatory, Geno will not last forever even if you think he's a really good QB.
Look, for Geno to throw an interception per game is F#$King amazing considering the O-line and how many times the WRs are tightly covered. Also, what seems to be the elephant in the room no one is talking about is why is Tyler Locker in the game. Screw the, well he pulls DBs away from other receivers. Thats not good enough, plus ad in his yac which is sub par, Yes? He is not able to contribute. The Hawks are playing with 2 receivers. Love Tyler, but this whole year he has not been what he once was.
as much as geno is better than howell, let’s not act like geno is in the upper echelon of qbs, he’s got 14 td passes, and 12 interceptions, these are daniel jones numbers, at the end of day you gotta score points and prevent turnovers, i get there’s a story behind all them but cmon we gotta get real, we need to get real about our team and how good we actually are
It's really hard to understand isn't it? Who watches his OL struggle repeatedly to protect the QB for more than 1.5 seconds, and then still insists on calling pass plays that require a clean pocket for 2.5+ seconds? And who calls Play Action passes out of formations that we never run out of, expecting that to fool anybody?
@@Fhreze Well yeah, that's what I was talking about. Being down 2 scores in the 1st quarter is no excuse to abandon short passing for the rest of the game. And it has nothing to do with not tipping our hand pre-snap with PA-exclusive formations where anyone who watches a minute of film knows what's coming.

@@BinaryDigit09 As opposed to those who glaze him and make excuse after excuse for him? Those people are even more annoying, claiming that Geno is a top 10 QB in this league makes Seattle's fanbase look absolutely delusional. Geno had that one good season his first year starting for Seattle, and that's it, last year was mid, and this year he's on pace for 17 TD's and 16 INT's that's no better than our current backups first year as a starter at age 23.... Geno only has 2 seasons in his entire career that were better than our current backups first year as a starter. Geno is also one of the worst redzone QB's I've ever seen, everyone wants to blame the O-line (which sucks) yet with that same O-line Geno has one of the best completion percentages in the NFL in-between the 20's, and he's top 5 in yards in-between the 20's, in the redzone his accuracy drops a whopping 23%, last year it dropped 21% to a league worst 43%, he also leads the league in redzone INT's over the last 2 years. He's 2nd in passing attempts yet he's bottom 10 in passing TD's, he has way too many weapons for type of BS. He's 0-7 on Thursday night games and only has 2 primetime wins in his entire career, he's also 3-12 against the Rams/49ers in his career. Geno was a 1 year wonder, he won comeback player of the year that year, then won comeback to Earth player of the year since.
nailed it. I loved the part about how some fans piss themselves after 3 bad plays
I can't like this comment enough. This fanbase is embarrassing when it comes to how they handle adversity.
@@davidmoore2699 I totally agree. Some fans act as if their lives depend on whether the Seahawks win or not. A thousand years from now, no one's gonna even care. It's just a game, for goodness sake.
TBH I don’t want us to make the playoffs because I know it will be embarrassing just like last night. It pains me to say I’d rather see the rams put on a show then to see us get rag dolled like we do against good teams. 😅
Nah rams are first round exits if they win division. If not they definitely won’t get past Philly or Detroit in the playoffs
There should be a rule that you cannot tackle a Quarterback below the waist. No leg shots.
Praying for You Geno!
When Geno came in for Russ, that pass Offense took a different look for the better
Arguably that's the main reason Russ came back still injured. Imo
Russ is making history somewhere now.
This hopefully should be an eye opener to Schneider to invest more into the oline
Idk. You’d think the past 10 years would be enough but so far not yet 😂
@ I’m sayin😂
Howell played like he was hung over… he probably was. Lol
He was surprisingly bad. I thought we had a decent backup QB, but apparently not.
What about geno? What did we learn besides his stat padding?
“I think Geno is a top 10 qb in this league” In what world is that???
Lol, I thought I was going nuts. These lame geno fans will say anything, that man will continue to hurt this offense. We need to pack him up and get him outta here.
I've never seen anything like it before. I've never witnessed a fanbase glaze a QB so much, a 34 year old QB with ONE good season in his entire career and only 2 seasons better than our current backups first year as a starter, a QB who is one of if not the the worst redzone QB in the NFL, a QB with plenty of weapons, a QB who is 0-7 on Thursday nights, with only 2 primetime wins in his entire career. It's absolutely amazing.
@@jedi_gaming7656you’re unable to argue against it.
@@Jason-lk9yimaybe because we actually watch the game and understand that it’s not geno’s fault that we have multiple 3rd stringers on the o-line. Because we understand that the play calling has been TERRRIBLE and our run game hasn’t been good for over a year.
And because we actually watch the full game, we can also tell that half of Geno’s interceptions weren’t his fault.
Last game’s one was and he has had a few others that were on him. But many are due to him being hit so quickly because of the o-line. Another was from a player bobbling an easy catch
But what do we know, we just actually watch geno play.
@trentwise. Fr though, most of these fools are box score merchants

Great analysis and take. These casual fans who have never played football or QB will never understand how difficult it is to play with poor pass blocking and no run game . Mentally and physically it is such a difficult thing to do
I don't buy the whole: "He was thrown into the starting position mid game so it's not fair to judge him." You're being PAID as a backup, that's your job to expect and be prepared for that.
Hawks fan celebrate wins vs other teams backup QBs all the time..... aka the Miami game... in fact multiple games this season. 'Genos 3rd comeback win of the year vs a backup qb yaaay'
Howells first snaps of the year, I bet you were crying about JSN too like Brendon the first half of the season 'JSN no separation, JSN too slow' etc etc... young players take time to develop.
I agree. In 2001 Drew Bledsoe was injured in a game against NY when the Jets' Mo Lewis knocked him out of bounce. Belichick put in TB12, and the rest as they say is history.
We can’t keep accepting other quarterbacks and just draft one draft a qb that can finish a drive in the redzone
Oh shut up you probably the same person who said Sam Howell should start
@@Clark-shoots-bricksas much as I been with Geno those red zone picks kill us we can’t keep doing that

@@Fhreze Getting rid of Geno after this year would save 25m in cap space, that 25m could go a long way in signing 2 solid guards in free agency. Draft a QB on a cheap rookie contract and who knows what could happen. Keeping Geno next year at a 38m cap hit or extending him will put us in the same situation we are right now.
I am nostalgic for the bluegrass intro
Please no, I absolutely hated that!

Geno went as a backup and drove 98 yards down the field.
I learned that John Schneider needs to find two QB's this off-season.
+ O Line
Ahh yes… Geno leads the league in Redzone turnovers the past two years (this season isn’t even finished yet) The REDZONE… the most crucial part of the field, instead of 6…instead of 3…we get 0. He’s keeping us from scoring at least 3pts every time he does it and he LEADS THE LEAGUE! But Howell gets thrown in mid 3rd quarter down 17pts with the 3rd string Center and one interception completely removes him from the QB conversation? Hahaha no wonder we suck at home this year, we have the dumbest fans smh yall are so full of shit.
truth
right and everyone saying we would’ve won with geno in is funny like he was doing anything in the first place. 20-3 when he left and threw ANOTHER redzone pick. he would’ve kept holding the ball staring down the field hitting check downs or taking sacks like he was the first half lol
I won't pass judgment on Howell until I see him play four quarters of football, but watching his play last night was painful.
My learning is, Geno smith is way better than I really thought from the previous games😂
That's it.
Also, Geno's leverage is not just learning the Seahawks' system, but he knows that a lot of QBs can't survive with Seattle's bad O-line, let alone thrive in Seattle with that O-line.
macdonald say we are optimistic that geno plays on sunday
If Geno keeps it up, maybe he can achieve Sam Howell's numbers from last year. YAY! Thank god he's a top 10 QB!
Hey bro! Nah, he has no accountability. He's worked everywhere else he's been and in Seattle. We need to keep blaming the O-line and Grubb. Geno made no bad decisions last year when Grubb wasn't the offensive coordinator.
Ok i get it,this was national pick on Sam Howell day.
we learned geno is the way but i wouldnt read that much into howell rn
While I don’t think sam was necessarily given a chance considering it’s about to ask anyone, especially a dude with only a single year as a starter, to come in midway through a game in December behind the o-line we have and play calling grub is doing to be able to succeed.
I can’t fault Howell for struggling. But I can fault him for struggling as bad as he did lol.
He played BAD. It felt like each drive he was in felt more chaotic than the last.
I feel bad for the situation he was put in. But even considering that, Howell did not play even close to good.
If his knee structurally okay? Just have him pop a couple of greenies and he'll be fine.
Let's not sugar coat this. It was an all around terrible game. This team no longer has home field advantage. And they aren't very good yes they have good plays here and there. But they're consistently not very good..
Maybe we should give jaren hall a shot
It looked like Yo simity Sam wasn't prepared to play.
Packers could've packed it up after the first quarter and still won it, 14-13.
Crazy because last year Sam Howell gave us issues and almost beat us😂
I learned that sometimes your dreams weren’t meant for you.
Preaching the truth this morning!
We learned that no matter what we can't trust the refs to call a fair game ever
Everytime this team shows good play they never fail to piss us off
You have one job as a backup QB and it's not to be good, it's to be ready.
The fact there is still hate towards Geno is hilarious. Brown fans don’t treat Watson like this….
Any possibility JAREN HALL starts at QB if Geno does not go, after all he knows the Vikings Defense ?
O line sucksss so bad and sam howell looked scared out there. Not ready at all or motivated. Even lock showed more energy. Last night we looked so bad
Man everything is so depressing. Guess that's the standard over here.
Love Tyler, but this whole year he has not been what he once was.
as much as geno is better than howell, let’s not act like geno is in the upper echelon of qbs, he’s got 14 td passes, and 12 interceptions, these are daniel jones numbers, at the end of day you gotta score points and prevent turnovers, i get there’s a story behind all them but cmon we gotta get real, we need to get real about our team and how good we actually are
If Geno and Sam are top 10 QB. They wouldn't be in the hands of the Seahawks without costly price. You get what you paid/traded.
Ryan Grubb should go back to coaching high school boys. One run play in the last 20 minutes of the game. One
@@BinaryDigit09buddy we were down 2 scores😭😭if you said earlier in the game id agree
@@Fhreze Well yeah, that's what I was talking about. Being down 2 scores in the 1st quarter is no excuse to abandon short passing for the rest of the game. Hate to say this, but neither of these QBs are doing the job well enough. Obviously the rest of the team also failed miserably aside from DK and Smith Njigba (and Lockett). But I think we need to look to the future at this point. Saying Geno played fairly well misses all of the choices he made that got us where we ended up before Howell came in, and compared to Jordan Love he stunk. Hawks could very well be out before week 18 if next week the Rams win and the Hawks lose.... so no point playing an injured Geno.
Seahawks could have signed Lamar Jackson for a few 1sts, and had an elite QB.... where was JS then??
