@@HeadfirstAmps Yeah - I know the EVH sound has been done a lot, although have not seen the slave concept done much and long time ago read where EVH possibly did this and helped with adding harmonics and getting the overall sound. Could it be done with two plexi's, line out box? Or would it be just with power amp in between? Could be interesting! \m/
I'm going to be adding this Fet boost to a current 2204 build. Is there any reason why we couldn't wire a front panel potentiometer to the trim pot pads? Use good shielded cable? Thanks.
Hi Jason, I found a steal for a '95 1959 SLP, could you give me some advice on master volume mods? Don't need at the moment more gain because I have to play it along with a VH4. Thanks a lot 🙂
@@HeadfirstAmps thanks a lot Jason. Is it true that the SLP were based on 70s plexis whereas the HW on a 60s? I've read mid 90s Plexi reissues were fantastic.
I'm a marshall grind guy but I kind of use them in a different way. I play death metal. I'd love to pick your brain. I'm using a Splawn Compitition. It's great but not perfect. I'm looking for a more saturated jcm 900 mk3 that's super tight. Do you know of a kit for the 900 2100 mk3 model. In the US there are a few but mostly ragged out need caps ect. I'd like to have one but brand new parts with like I said a tighter less flabby bottom with more saturation (not 5150) but just a tad bit more with that JCM grind 😉. Your amps sound great.
A clean FET boost pedal won’t be exactly the same due to the supply voltage. The reason the amp FET is so dynamic is because it’s running off a ~300vdc supply
Does this boost volume or just gain? Is it possible to get something similar on an SV20H? Always a struggle with plexi style amps and getting a volume boost for leads!
I’m new to the tube amp world and am wondering if someone in the comments here might be able to help me out. I’m looking to scoop spare tubes for my 2012 Marshall SLP MKII 100 watt head. What would I need tube wise and how many of each to be totally backed up? From what I gathered online I would want to get a set of 4 power tubes (EL334s) and then I think 3 preamp tubes (12AX7’s). Would that suffice if it came to replacing all the tubes in my amp? I’m a firm believer that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, and these would totally just wait in the wings until the day comes where I need them. If anyone with more knowledge can help steer me in the right direction though, I’d appreciate it ! Thanks
@@HeadfirstAmps thanks dude. When the time comes I will def be consulting an experienced amp tech for the job. I got electrocuted as a kid, so electricity freaks me out a bit haha.
Sounds awesome.
On 4:55 the Amp sounds a bit like a 2555 Reissue ... 👍
Great work brother 🍻
As always, AMAZING!!!
sounds brilliant! great to hear the FET boost in action. and is that a quad cortex? 👀
Yep, it's a QC. I took a capture of the amp boosted last night, came out great!
@@HeadfirstAmps Any Kemper action? Sounds excellent !
Nice!!!
Would it be possible to do a vid showing how to slave a plexi into another amp/power amp? Love your vids - keep up the good work!
Sure, like using a load box for the plexi?

Great tones!! What IR are you using mate?
Thanks Chris, it's a ML Soundlab Friedman cab. Greenback 57 & 121 blend.

Hi, yes you can. See the clip on the 1959SLP that I added the is to, I did a boost volume on the front.
@@HeadfirstAmps Thank you very much!

For a 1959, a PPIMV is the only way to go

Love removal machine instant like and share.
Just suscribed, You are a legend my friend. Thank you so much for sharing! Question: did you mod any dsl40c?
Thank you! I'll be working on a DSL100 soon, but have not yet worked on a 40

Yeah that's the stuff
Did a QC capture of this man
I've read that the LND150 can act as 2 gain stages. Would one of these boost stages push a JCM800 style circuit into SLO territory?
They certainly make a 2203/2204 into a 4 stage gain monster.
Maybe a silly question - but could you essentially have the FET boost into a pedal and would that get the same results? Cheers

wich PPIMV does it have. Lar-Mar or Orange type?

It's really a gain boost mate.

4 x EL34’s and 3 x 12AX7’s is what you need for a 1959SLP. Just remember you can’t really just swap in new power tubes without a re-bias.
