If you overpaid every penny was lost. That markup is pure loss. If they can't see that they are ignorant.
YES, Absolutely Man, why don’t people get that. Mark-ups are good for the dealer but bad for re-sale value.
The mask came off of the demon when it was revealed that it was limited in its top speed due to mechanical/engineering issues
A neutered demon. 👿
I'm still waiting to hear about the upcoming lawsuits. Dodge messed up big time on this issue, and this killed the value of the 170. What a dumb mistake.
I spoke with a salesman at my local dealership who told me that dodge was trying to send more chargers and challengers that are not selling. As a lifelong mopar fan, I feel like Stellantis is killing off the dodge and Chrysler brands. There are very large storage lots around Bremerton that have many cars that the dealerships are refusing to take.
And as a result the 2018 Demon will hold its value due to the fact it has a top speed of 211mph with the vin matched crate option

I'm not paying ANYTHING over msrp. I dont need anything that bad ! In fact, I dont pay those ridiculous dealer markups ! When Im ready to buy I'll tell the salesperson what I will pay for a vehicle, write the paperwork how you want just as long as the bottom line is what I said I'll pay if they dont agree im gone, that wasnt the only vehicle built, like one sales manager told me this isn't a museum, its a delaership and we sell cars. With all that said, I got a great deal on my 23 Scat Pack.
Preach. I was in the market for a wb scat last year and they wanted a 10k markup I laughed and got up told the sales guy I’m good. He said hold on let me speak to the manager and said we can do 5k mark up on top of a 65k msrp. I still walked out. Now that same spec is 57k which to me is still not worth it.
What did you pay for the scat? I’m going to offer 55 for a wide body fully loaded
@Therealclayton just be willing to walk away and they will test to make sure that you are.
2 months ago I bought my 2023 Challenger Hellcat for under MSRP.
wait a year or so, prices are crashing because alot of hellcats (including Demons) with branded titles are flooding the market, either stolen or buy backs.
Those cars aren't worth over msrp. These people are coping so hard for over paying.
Evidently they are look what they sell for🤷♂️
Mustang guy & fan of the channel. Last summer the local Ford dealer had a $5,000 “Addendum” on all newly introduced S650 Mustangs * - Today $3,000 OFF every 2024 Mustang on the lot + other possible incentives. *$10,000 markup on the “Limited Availability” Dark Horse - Today still $2,500 mark up. DON’T EVER PAY ABOVE MSLP! THE WORM HAS TURNED - Happy motoring 🤠
I’m seeing even more off (NE Florida). 5.5k off 2024 Mustangs GT base model.
People aren’t stupid, they are researching and knowing these cars are overpriced lol.
@@ChrisFromFloriduh Check on that - Have seen more than $5,000 off at another Ford dealer + other incentives - Just might look into a 2025 S650, however, I would have to order the car exactly as I want it. Not sure how that would affect pricing. Happy Motoring 🤠
But MSRP is the problem… for CJDR dealers… way to high
It blows my mind the demon would sell over $100k to begin with, people forget it's still based on the cheap LA platform.
OC, I think the mistake people make is that they think that high dollar things should have equal measures of value. Regardless if it's a Viper, a D170, or a Challenger SXT... They're all Dodges. They make cars like my 2020 Hellcat that didn't have a completely covered engine bay paint job. You can't expect Dodge to magically manufacture a $150,000 car that's going to be any better than marginal overall quality. It's a Dodge. I think the D170 is also suffering from "2023" problems that infect a sizable portion of the Hellcat lineup. I have a 2023 Redeye that I daily drive. In 8,000 miles, it needed the following: Driveshaft, starter, hood liner, thermostat, 2 injectors and the passenger seat was replaced due to a defect in the skeleton of the seat (a coil broke and put a hole in the seat). They also replaced my front stripes on warranty due to a factory installation defect. All of these were done under warranty and the car's just fine now.
These issues are partly just "Dodge" and their parts suppliers that affects all 2023s.
And, lastly I should mention that even though they're special and expensive, the D170 is the most produced Hellcat type in 2023. So, they're actually going to have a larger number of issues. While all of we blown Hemi owners statistically will have 1.8 warranty trips to the dealership in the first year per avg 2022 Dodge dependability ratings, the largest group will in fact be D170 owners. So, the number of reported issues coming from the Demon camp SHOULD be more, which will make them appear to be more frequent. People click on "OMG MY D170 JUST BLEW UP!" They don't click on, "Maaan, my new SXT engine is dead!" Just because they spent $200,000 on a Dodge, doesn't mean they didn't get a Dodge for $200,000. Ya know?
They actually have to drive their D170 to encounter problems, lol. I'm sure most are sitting. They bought it for profit and not to pull wheelies. I get what your saying. People will pay to much, or I should say, more than it's worth just to own the car They want. One day I will have to pay more than I want to get my Roadrunner back, we will see, lol.
Just because you value something a lot does not mean the rest of the world does. I get why people like these cars, but exactly what you said, they're Dodges. I'm a car guy and love muscle cars but you have realize that most of the people that can afford to burn 150-200k on a car are likely at least middle age, have families, don't want to look like they're having a mid life crisis, and have other shit to do. A middle aged or older dude picking one of these up screams mid-life crisis. I mean look at them. They look like toy cars I played with as a kid. They're stupid fast and only two people sit comfortably in them. They are purely for fun and bragging rights. If you want something fun but more "versatile" European makes are going to be much more palatable, generally be better made, and not look as much of a mid-life crisis mobile. There's a lot of options out there for rich people looking to get a fancy car and Dodge just doesn't have that much cache. If these things are falling apart just like any other Dodge, that's a bitter pill to swallow for paying over MSRP.
@@ImprovisedExpletiveDevice Just because we're in our 40s, doesn't mean the cars we buy are midlife crisis cars. I've been driving your so-called midlife crisis cars my whole life. Here's my list:
1967 Mustang Covertible
1970 Torino 429 SCJ
1955 Bel Air (gasser modified with a vintage 392 Hemi swap done back in 1962)
1957 Chevy Bel Air
1964 Thunderbird
1987 Mustang GT
1999 Mustang GT
2012 Lotus Elise Cup R (track car)
2014 Mustang GT
2015 Mustang GT
3x 2017 GT350s (2 Rs, 1 plain... the R's were SCCA competition cars)
2018 Dodge T/A 392
2020 GT500
2020 Challenger Hellcat
2021 Chevy C8 2LT
2023 Challenger Redeye Widebody
(coming soon on order) 2024 Lotus Emira -- for track purposes.
I've never owned a 4-door vehicle, SUV or a pickup truck. Of that list above, I built the 67 Mustang when I was 14 in 1993-1996. I still own it, the Torino and the Redeye. All others have been traded/sold. I don't think "midlife crisis" has anything to do with it. I see it more like having two major groups of people for any car on the market. You have the serious enthusiasts (me) and then there's pretty much everyone else. People like me choose a car for a specific reason. In my case, I'm a RWD V8 American performance enthusiast. I'm not brand loyal. I've driven plenty of European cars, exotics, and hypercars in my day. If you want to see someone deeply depressed, you take them out of a blown Hemi and put them into an inline-6 powered BMW or an anemic 500-600hp biturbo AMG. I can't justify the choice with anything of substance, other than to say that doing a WOT scoot from 0-120 in a Redeye is eye-opening, and the same in an M4 is a bit like a sad trombone.
I would imagine if someone was just in a midlife crisis and wanted to be cool or whatever, sure, an M3/M4 or a Porsche 718 would fit the bill well enough. But, that's not why I own this car. Like the 67 Mustang and 70 Torino, this 2023 Redeye is going to be a keeper. In 40 years, I hope to be in my mid to upper 80s still doing car shows with those 3 rides. The difference between an enthusiast and a midlife crisis buyer is that I'm not in it for me. It's about the car. I don't do Instagram/FB and don't put much content out on RUclips. If I do, it's about my cars. I don't care how I look or what others think. I'm not out for clicks and glory. I'm the type of guy who will go out to the garage in the middle of a night, turn on a single light and admire the cars for a bit before bedtime. I've been doing that since I was a little kid with my dad's '69 GTO. Sadly, in a few years I'll likely be inheriting that car too.
But, the deal with the 2023 Redeye is that it's a special car for me. It always will be. I paid MSRP for it, and it took 15 months to get once it was ordered in late 2021. I'll skip the details on why it took so long. It was an expensive car, way too much for a Dodge, but I own what I think is the best, streetable, big power Dodge car ever made. I could have gotten a 2018 Demon or a D170, but those cars are strictly 1/4 mile race cars... especially true for the D170. It doesn't have the best brakes, a wobbly drag suspension, and no sound dampening. It would be hell on road trips. I don't feel bad paying for it, because I ordered it exactly how I wanted it... the most perfect car for me. I might have been able to find something close on a dealership lot, but this one has my name on the window sticker. It was built for me, and with me it'll stay. Money well spent IMO.
@@GG-Redeye I'll be honest with you, I did not read your whole ridiculous response. Relax pal, I was just pointing out the obvious about these cars. I was not picking on you specifically. You can't deny that if someone sees a salt and pepper dude step out of a ride that looks like it might be a transformer that one of their first thoughts are going to be midlife crisis.
@@ImprovisedExpletiveDevice Not really. Just sounds like envy to me. It's the old adage, "When I do not have what I want, I hate those who do." It's a concept as old as ancient Greece and you're just repeating a thousands year old behavior. YOU see a salt and pepper man with something nice and YOU think it's a midlife crisis because YOU think it's stupid for an older person to have something nice. Envy and selfishness.
Sorry, not interested in the 170. The shark was jumped with the original Demon. That’s the car to buy. One built with a level of quality not attainable for a 2023+
100% The OG was built and designed with pride by a top secret team of engineers……the 170 was slapped together with catalog parts
So many flippers & profiteers have come into the car market since 2020 that it has completely screwed up the market for true enthusiasts that want to drive and enjoy their cars.
The Truth some just can't handle the truth, that it is a one trick pony
As designed
It's a drag car. Specific tires and all for the track. What else should it do?
“Stupid people with lots of money “ nailed it!
The fact that the demons were listing at like 3 to 4 hundred thousand after Mark up is ridiculus
I was so angry from the start when dealers were putting these obscene mark ups but the blame lies mostly on those buyers who paid for those obscene mark ups and now its turned its ugly head and biting them in their backsides and rightly so. So when OCM is calling them out of course these 170 buyers are upset but you brought it on yourselves.
At least we can agree that a lot of the owners of these cars aren't very bright! LOL
Al Bundy cars
I bought my last car used a couple months ago from a dealer who was desperate for business. Be patient. There are many who are very hungry right now. They screwed you over for years. Now’s your time.
Always remember, Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
This is a statement my Parents always told me my whole life. 👌🏾😂👌🏾
Too many but hurt due to the fact of overpaying. Money is. Poof gone
I bought a first edition SRT8 Challenger last summer with only 200 miles on it for $35000. I have already put about 3400 miles on since that time. Every time I drive it I think of the original buyer purchasing it with a markup and never driving it thinking it was an investment. He saved it for me to drive, thanks!
Hey oc i want to take this time and really thank you for all your videos on car buy because of you I was able a buy a 23 rt black top package fully specked out for a steal on the price I managed to get the price form 46K to 38.7K back in mid-March my payments are 550 a month. also, I didn't have to put a huge down payment only 3k down lastly Shes the same color as your swinger scat pack just the smaller 5.7 litter instead of the 6.4 litter
Sheesh 🔥 Congrats bro. If i can ask what’s your apr on the deal ? I’m looking to grab an RT as well
@@wendellrivers853 I got the 0 percent apr promotion when I did
My local Chevy dealers can’t figure out why I won’t pay over MSRP yet. They now advertise below MSRP, but when you go to see the car it’s 5k to 15 over MSRP!
As I have stated before. I am a 5th generation UAW Chrysler employee retiree and nobody has anyone to blame for paying uber amounts of money up and beyond the actual value of anything and wishes to blame someone for their own stupidity by paying uber amounts of money for such things can kick themselves and deal with their own stupid choices. You did nothing wrong simply bringing awareness to the reality that people who are willing to spend a hundred thousand dollars over cost only shows how they shouldn't made such ignorant decisions.
Keep doing your thing my guy. Everybody loves a deal unless they buy before it drops.
Put one in a bubble for 10 years, need some sort of insurance on it, lose all that interest, pay for the garage it sits in. Quite the long-term gamble for a Dodge that's not been sorted out a decade earlier.
People are just mad cause they bought the car thinking they could flip it and they’re getting screwed
Win some, lose some....
Thanks for the info Unc Oc!
When people panic buy, that's what causes the price to go up. Now there's no panic buying now. They are finding out they overpaid is their own fault. They have to do their own homework and be a little more patient
BRIAN, you are doing a great job at informing the public on vehicle prices.. Thanks for your efforts!!
I think, my opinion the folks at the factory knew they were losing their jobs and the quality was accordingly. It’s not just the 170’s, all trim levels in 2023 seem to have issues, guy at work had same washer issue and his door panels are coming apart, it’s a 5.7 car.
They aren't hurting Stellantis, they are hurting their own reputations as well as the customer.
Yeah the 23s are crap
It's a shame. I really like my 2020. Then again I've hardly used it at all.
Hate to say it, but if you fell for the last call hype on the 2023 HC's and Demons you just set yourself up for quality issues. Anyone that's ever worked in a plant that's closing knows that anything that can be cobbled together is going to be green lighted and pushed down the line. Parts that once might be rejected are bolted on, employee morale is low, and the only important numbers are total cost and how many units they can push out. Much rather have a prior year with low miles in nice condition than to have overpaid for a pig in a poke.
I am a Mopar guy and have been since my very first car a Plymouth 'Cuda. What most are not getting with the modern cars are they are over mass produced, even the 3000 (3300) numbered editions, last call editions (package) versus the older high price bringing cars. The older higher priced cars may have been mass produced as well but lower numbers, then they were just your ordinary car to buy at a lower price than new, then they were wrecked, age took over, modified, etc. and many became a lower number to still exist and close to original which has brought prices up considerable compared to original MSRP. Example I have owned five “Cuda E bodies and never paid over $12000 and that was in the middle 2000s with a 440 in it, and the car being a descent driver with a few things that could have been done to improve. I paid as little as a $125 in the mid 80’s for a small block driver that needed a little body work but was still a driver non the less. The point is these cars will never bring what the older cars bring in markup percentage unless they go through a realization of existence and the it becomes the new I got to have car, but it will be many years and I am not sold that they will ever bring the percentage higher prices of the cars of the old days. Just to many produced and to many want to set on them, and it takes one person to sell low to start the trend. Its like baseball cards, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay which is what sets the market. Look at the 2018 demon, it had many still not selling at 115000 to 120000 before the 2023 170 came out, then overnight the prices went to 180000 to 225000 for the same car and guess what they are still for sale but prices are coming back down. These are not Hemi ‘Cudas with super low production regardless of year (70 or 71) and I can’t see them (18 or 23) ever bringing those prices (70 or 71) and most of them were driven unlike the garage queens of today. I see a potential gain but you will never be able to retire or have millions form a modern car unless it set for many years and then will it actually function as intended, (electronics)?
Excellent point about a car going up in value in a matter of years.
Another great video. Keep them coming.
The Demon 170 never made sense to me even at MSRP, let alone with a dealer mark-up. It's a dragster that you can't drive in the rain unless you change out the stock tires, and it has so much low-end torque that even with those drag radials, and even when the track is prepped perfectly, you still spin like crazy!
Great video and thanks for the info
At the end of the day a Demon is still a Dodge product, and it is still going to have the same poor build quality as a regular dodge challenger. Anyone that pays even sticker price for one now is still gonna regret buying it 5-10 years from now when they aren’t going to be worth even half of the new sticker price.
how are the 2018 demons holding up in value?
Thanks for the education. Appreciated.
Huge seller fees at Mecum, 6% without reserve and a whopping 10% with reserve - PLUS consignment entry fees. The big winner is the auction house as their getting huge fees from both buyer and seller. OCM just speaking the unpopular truth as always. Keep up the good work Brad.
Great job Brad, I once bought a car for 60 dollars off the local trading mart, radio station in my town. Sure it wasn't a muscle car but it was transportation. I can but NEVER WILL pay MSRP.
Anyone that pays so much over MSRP is speculating at a very high risk. Modern cars, no matter how well they may perform on the street, simply don't have the cache and intrinsic value of a classic Mopar muscle car. The only way to know for sure if the Demon, or any Hellcat, will be worth a ton in the future is to have a crystal ball, and none of us have that. Hellcats were produced in high numbers so the odds are that their value increase would be minimal. Demons are low production but you'd better squirrel it away in a temperature controlled garage and be willing to wait 20 years. Even then, there is no guarantee it will increase. Buy a nice 440 or Hemi that is 1971 or earlier and sit on it. If that is too rich, buy a lesser, but original, Mopar muscle car. You won't be disappointed in the years to come.
You have a good pragmatic knowledge of the auto industry. I'm 71 and a Mopar gearhead, you would do well in the 'market' because you can see through the bullshit. 👍
When the MANUFACTURER of your car is telling you its worth $130K at the most, anything you pay over the price they tell you it's worth is YOUR problem as the buyer.
Why do people not understand this?
@thadlm2698 they're buying these cars with the hopes of them appreciating in the future but don't realize it took decades for old muscle cars to get where they are, and on top of that alot of them are actually rare because there's so few of them.
My '23 Scat, which I ordered, showed up with a few issues. It had the Brampton "Not so clean" option as well.
I agree - the challenge with the new 170 is that the vast majority will keep them as no-mile storage units. Out of 3300 units, I’m guessing 3000 will be kept as super low mileage examples, which means low mileage ones will never be rare or difficult to find.
total was 3301 , only 50 one seat true ,trac race cars built , 99 base cloth int .rest are loaded luxury cars , lot where ordered loaded for the collectors
My 02 Silverado I bought new and still own has zero rust on it including the undercarriage , I do live in Arizona but it has sit most of its life outside cause I keep my new Chevy trucks and my C6 ZO6 Vette in my 3 car garage! Ive seen several brand new Raptor Rangers and full size Fords with rusty drive shafts and other undercarriage parts 🤯
Hey there, Brad I do believe you are correct. Maybe in the beginning within the first three months, the artificial inflation of these demon 170 were fetching 100,000 plus MSRP. But now that they’ve been up for a year, the market has gone soft. The 2018 original demon went through the same cycle. Now you can find them at either MSRP or near MSRP pricing. It’s just like anything that commands a high price in the beginning then tapers off as people finally start getting their hands on that vehicle. Just look at what’s going on with Tesla cyber trucks, founders edition, cyber beast. They were going for over 120,000 above MSRP. Now those Tesla cyber trucks is starting to level off at $150,000. Same thing as happening with the new C8 Corvette Z06. Even though Production starting to slowly catch up with the demand, nobody’s willing to pay above MSRP anymore. Now it’s going to be the C8 Corvette, E Ray that’s going to come in above MSRP then taper off. The only vehicle in history that has gone from $1 million price tag to $20 million is the legendary 2005 McLaren F1. That’s just because of Jay Leno receiving an offer of $20 million. Even though Jay Leno’s McLaren F1 is the highest mileage in the world. But at the same time it’s Jay Leno‘s legendary one owner vehicles that was custom ordered by Jay Leno in 1995.
I remember seeing a video when a lot of those Cars sat out in the winter on the plant lot with no protection. That’s why they are rusting on the underside.
In my experience the Demon 170 owners are delusional about the values on their cars. Most believe these will be $500k cars. I dont doubt these will always be selling for over msrp, much like the OG Demons, but $300-$500k probably isnt on the horizon for a very long time.
Brad, I subscribed to your channel because you always appear to tell the full story on a given topic, and I am a huge Dodge fan now, in part, because of your channel. I also bought a Demon 170 just like you. However, when you used the the soldier Demon to say the market was falling I was suprised that you left out any mention of the other 4 Demons - one of which sold for 240k with fees. Not sure why you are "doublng down" on that, and I dont think you are instilling faith in your loyal followers by doing so either. Just a friendly observation my friend. Keep up the hard work, I still very much appreciate what you do certainly. One of my favorites was your Christmas time car and coffee shot with your budy who owns the GHOST. Thought your Demon looked amazing next to the Ghost and was sad to see you let her go at any price.
The black ghost was a fraud, it was never a stealth machine sneaking out and beating all comers..kuniskis and his fraudsters pulled the wool on y'all again....
GREAT VIDEO !!
Great points.
What the hell...?! You got me on that Scat Pack. A Pentastar 3.6L ? Really?! LOL! That would have been a great April Fools' joke right there. I hate to admit it, but the Demon 170 was really overhyped. Now, the hype train is going off the rails. I am happy that You, Paul, Butter and Demonology have managed to get a Demon 170 without having to pay insane prices. Great video OCM!
Lol that v6 was really clean though!
@@rodneyunderwood6236 Indeed!
One of the few cars that has went up with an exponent was not within 5 years of release but was in the Fast and Furious movies...and it's a 90's Toyota Supra. Dodge could take some pointers from them on quality upon delivery!
What should you I pay for a hellcat challenger with all the icing
Cheers brother
I guess I'm not getting my demon 170 MSRP is unheard of and I'm afraid the mechanics building the car took a lot of shortcuts on quality control
I don't even think the markups was the problem. Simply not enough car for the prices they are charging. I don't see the confusion, especially if the conversation is about quality and performance.
So......does the acronym "ADM" still stand for "Additional Dealer Markup"....???
lol I WISH OC had the ability to move the market like those Demon owners think he can🤣
Hi great videos, could you do a update video on Ram TRX prices. On how to deal on over priced used ones which there are many out there. How the 2024 Msrp is way higher then the 2023. And most importantly how the used prices will go up or down when the new 2025 TRX comes out with the Hurricane HO. Will people sell there older TRX for the new one, because it’s the newest shiniest toy. So maybe a used price drop.
Bought a Dodge and found problems, you cannot be surprised.
I believe Mecum is 10% on the buyers side and 10% on the sellers side plus a slotting / listing fee so they still get something if a car doesn't sell. Also, typically on Charity cars no commission on either side.
I'm realizing that long term value is different from the 1970's muscle car where not only can you rebuild and engine swap and update and keep it running, todays cars are computer driven in most every way. A 30 year old Demon170 may not even run in 30 years without new computer equipment even if it is kept under a bubble. Even the original muscle cars which were made to be ran on high octane leaded fuel had to have hardened valve seat replacements to run on our now unleaded fuel. But by comparison the cost to keep a classic from 1970 running was minimal compared to what is coming down the road for these computerized Demon 170's. Computer parts reliability and availability to keep them stock and running in 30 years may be unobtainable for such a limited car run. Just a thought and JMHO
It wasn't that long ago that Accountants, Lawyers and Dentists were buying Harleys for "investments". It didn't work then, it won't work now.
I started looking at the New Broncos a couple years back and the local dealers wanted $3000-5000 above MSRP, I wanted until a month ago and bought a used 23 with 4,300miles on it with aftermarket lift, wheels, leather interior, and 37x12.5R22 tires 1:42 for $10,000 less than the original MSRP so saved $15K and got a better looking Bronco
think of the buyers on ebay motors back in June -sept who bought a pre sale not delivered , not built yet D170s wonder if any of them backed out ? paying some one they dont know on ebay $100k ? for their position in line to custom order theirs ?
I was amazed people were willing to even pay so much for that 10+ year old body style with a base model interior
I’ve seen this kind of damage done to aircraft made by a major aircraft manufacturer. It started happening right after they announced a major layoff. Sound familiar.
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 great video.
All I can say is the truth will always hurt. And you did say the truth. 🤛
I’ve been looking for a 170 but the unwarranted markups I’m on hold.
Well, everybody overpay for a rushed to production Dodge. What do you think was going to happen?
It's like they just didn't give a shit cause they knew production was over and Stellantis is probably pulling the plug on Dodge in the near future...
I will only pay over MRSP if the dealers take one third off the price for depreciation on other cars also.
Now I’m at the point of doing what a friend of mine had many years ago.
He bought a stock LX Mustang, under the hood was a well massaged 5.0 and 5 spd. Fast as Hell, a lot cheaper than a rare model GT in both cost and insurance.
Now I would get a RT and build up the drivetrain for a lot less than a new 170.
Don’t collect, what was meant to be collected because in twenty years they will all be in mint condition. As opposed to an old Cadillac, or old Challenger which were meant to be driven and not collected.
GT3RS 4.0, 600 made, I think it about the closest car to quadrupling its value based on MSRP.
I must say the people who are willing to pay for the mark up are to blame for the dealership mark up. Now who’s does it hurt the most?
My question is "who is classifying cars as an asset. It goes on the liability side of a balance sheet. There are very few cars that go up in value right away... this isn't one of them
Yes.. the market is in regression pattern. However, adding current linear regression model, a 3quarter inflation reduction will make the economy increase beyond covid.
So, if you have these cars, hold on to them. These cars will increase value in proportion to the market deman.
20k over at the very moment that instantly depreciated the moment the pen hits the paper by at least 50k and he added another 20k to make it at least 70k loss of value within a few lines of a signature. These models will be no different than any other platform vehicle. You don't buy these vehicles for a retirement plan. You buy them to drive and enjoy.
I seen many folks say don’t pay over list or you will be regretful.
How moddable are these Demon 170s? I'm not a Mopar guy, but these days it's almost a must to work against the manufacturers.
Hey OC, Just wanted to say that if these guys who are not driving these cars and planning on holding on to them for years, what happens when defects start to happen later on when the Factory Warranty expires and they are stuck with hefty repairs ???😂
I'm looking at buying a Hellcat and paying cash, prices are starting in the $45k range and going to $60k used. Not bad compared to newer cats and the depreciation they will have over just a few years. If you want one just wait a couple years and you'll be able to afford it. 😊
My redeye jailbreak was MSRP at $102k and I paid an $8k mark up 2 years ago. I believe I paid the right price.
You keep doing you! Your videos are great.
Now I am receiving discounts below m Sr p from GMC dealerships. So the prices are coming down. Like I said, be patient they were able to make a lot of money during the pandemic by the way of market adjustments... Now they have to give some of that back... The dealerships always have a way to make extra money even though they sell it to you at m s r p or below.. Is happy motoring!
I think the redeyes will be more desirable !!! Also it was a short run for the 23 last calls!!!
The cars capable of over 151mph if the limiter is removed . It’s not a top end car anyways . It was built for the drag strip. I’m sure in time you’ll see one without the limiter hitting 200+. I’ve been in one and can tell you it’s pretty awesome !
But we have yet to see ANY top speed runs from the 170 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's capable of a little more with a tire swap. There's a problem with the driveshaft and potential catastrophic failure at speeds higher than the limiter allows. Bottom line is they cut corners on the driveshaft. It should have come with the 149 limiter and the ability to bump it up with a tire swap and PCM change. But it's not capable of doing it safely.

meanwhile, there goes a Civic R at 179 mph...
It's isn't close to being mass produced, but the one car I know that went way way up in value before it was even done being built was the Aston 177, only one I can think of.
Sad part is the people buying these special Dodges don’t even like them. They just buy them to flip for a profit. Same way someone buys concert tickets they don’t even like to resell for profit.
It’s just amazing thinking a car is an investment. People still don’t listen man all these prices are just dealers pick pocketing people that are willing to pay the ridiculous prices. People don’t want to pay cheaper prices they are just following trends to make them look good. I just hope one day everything goes back down like before the pandemic happened. Right now with prices going up I feel like returning my dodge charger and getting something that is not overpriced. Oh one more thing I saw all those cars with rust imagine having saved that car for years and it gets worse and you never drove it man I’ll will be pissed
Just a comment here … 1963 Split Window Corvette my brother bought Brand Spank n New in 63 … Sticker on that car $2,400 with his name on the door panels !
Last time I looked there was only 4 registered with the matching numbers. But I’m talk n 61 years ago!??? Just , commenting
Fair
Not only markup, but sales taxes and registration fees et cetra are gone as well. Insurance, storage, periodic maintenance only add to the long term costs. As the prices may rise, there are fewer suckers willing to pay even more for these cars, limiting their potential sales to a decreasing market. Seems there are better investments with greater liquidity. And if you drive the car, mileage will affect its value as well. So now your tying up six figures, betting on the come with recurring expenses and limited small market of buyers. This doesn't seem right.
None of those issues are normal, the oil being over full get him to smell the oil, used to be common with low tension rings and fuel bypassing which rises the oil level
It must be a Mopar thing. To make a great product initially, then by the end it's either negative equity, corrosion, or failed parts from Mexicana. I waited 2 years to pick up my Rubi 392. They came out in '21, with 6400 total years' production. Watching the MSRP go up 15% YOY from '21 to '22 we were being told supply shortages. Same thing happened in '23. For final year '24 were told last chance. What was $77k skyrockets to $103-106k in 4 short years. Nah. Not me. I bought a low miles late '21 for 65k OTD with an extended 7 year Mopar warranty. Even if I turn & burn I'm only out 5k tops, which for me was worth the experience of having the best off-road package that could be factory purchased. Everything else is hype & greed.
Love Mopar as much as anyone here. However, they aren’t known for top quality or being problem free. It’s not why we buy them. For those going above msrp, just crazy
Sadly some have bought a new car as a quick return investment.
Break-in before you drag a Demon 170 is 1,500 folks, not just 500. See page 7 of Demon Supplement. RacerX, unfortunately, leaned this the hard way just recently. Fortunately, Dodge is covering his under warranty
WOW! That B5 Charger looks just like mine! Thanks for posting that! Those things are going for insane prices.
OC
Don’t worry about it.
There is always going to be haters.
The facts speak for themselves. The Demon was another smoke and mirror attempt to create a feeding frenzy and a rush to buy something that was represented incorrectly.
If bought at MSRP or below this may have been a car that could eventually be valuable at resale in the distant future. This so long as it’s not driven, correctly maintained and stored.
I’ll never ever ever enter another dealership to purchase a car.
There are always good used cars out there that can be had.
Do you still have your Demon 170? Do you take it out much?
I cant believe the 170s are having issues. I'm just not suprised. And it comes from what ive seen from Dodge. Ive had 3 cars from them i know about the quality of a Dodge/Chrysler product. And they are shooty products. If ya just gotta have a Charger/ Challenger. I would advise you to go scatpack or Hellcat or Red Eye. At least they go over 149MPH and are probably more well made then the last call models and Demons. Because they are a greedy company and they do not care about that part of the company. So they cut costs on a lot of stuff. And you think they would want to go out with Honor. But this isnt that type of company. Theres a reason Japanese cars are made so well. They have a honor based culture. And they would rather swallow a rubber band ball full of tacs. Then to sell you a half working product or a product that isnt going to be working in 5 years. The Lexus LFA was a amazing vehicle that opened the doors for some much better ones. Toyota is making waves with Turbos and things like that. The F series is going to look real impressive soon. But i would rather pay 60k for a lexus GSF thats about 460 hp vs a Scat pack or a Hellcat. If you super charge it they beat Hellcats and in 10 years it will still be running. The quality of the overall car is much better. Yeah the Dodges have more horsepower out the box. But a lot comes with that. And it's not all good. If I'm spending 60k and up i expect some quality.
