I took a board of my truck and found that indeed the bushings are the problem. I was able to get mine replaced under warranty. Guaranteed these boards will fall in 4-8 years depending on usage and environment. I'm glad to see you're adding lubrication.
It's the only rational thing to do. To be able to push the gunk out of the bushings on a regular basis. I am using a molybdenum and graphite grease. Time will tell if it is effective.
Good video! My ram 2500 running board got this problem recently and I lubbed all the point but still no good. It's a 2021 2500 so I don't think the problem of bushings. Today I unplug the connector and reconnect it, vola, it works and no problem! But I will keep watching the bushing and pins!
I am glad that you found this useful. Having pulled apart a bunch of these brackets and seen the condition of the original bushings, I am surprised that any older Ford product boards move at all.
Thanks for making this , surprised amp doesn't sell the kits I guess they want you to buy new one. what did you use to get the C clips off ? and the link for isostatic, 10mm is the right size I take it?
I don't know if Amp uses c clips. The board here is a Ford stock one. In the Ford design, the pins are a shrink fit into the link portions of the hinge. Did you look at my videos on removing and installing these? There is a playlist that covers the whole process, located here: ruclips.net/p/PLoz-2IH4A2KsZiDXB0f-hhKZtAzO_wuO_
His is a timely video… I just purchased new EOM motor and brackets. Then realize, my old brackets are not bad just need new bushings. Boy, I hope I can get them out with out too much heat. Hurry up posting the SS rod removal video
I suspect that most people buy new motors and the front swing set when all that is needed is a $40 set of bushings. In my case, I am replacing the front set because I snapped my old one in half. I was able to get more than enough heat with just a normal propane torch. The heat required was around 150 degrees or so. It's more important to insure that the whole length of the pin in the center piece is hot. Also, do watch out for those rubber bumpers. If you toast them you will be having a bad day. About the ss rod, I don't have one on my Navigator. I have the short wheel base. The extended wheel base is where those are used on the Navigator.
