People can say what they want about Anette, but I think she did a wonderful job. The first song I ever heard from Nightwish was ‘Amaranth’, and when I found out people really disliked Anette, I was kind of shocked. She may have been the weakest vocalist for Nightwish, but she was still a very talented singer and her voice is very beautiful.
From that point, it makes total sense, but the shift in style with the shift in vocalist did shock a lot of nightwish fans from before. And in every measurable way, Anette is far inferior in vocal ability to Tarja. That does not show if you hear the songs that were written "for her", but if you hear Anette trying to sing older Nightwish material. Floor is able to bridge the gap and to enlighten the older material in a way I did not believe possible, before whitnessing it. And now even Tarja sonds boring, compared to the splendor of Floor.

I love Floor's style of singing so much but as a fan of Floor I would agree that this song is just made for Tarja and she could sing it better than anyone else .

They should two more songs Bye bye Beautiful the Elan fit for the battle. Anyway Tarja and Floor are from the same calibre musically. Both have some classical or opera style in their singing. Annette is more to rock vocalist. They all have their own style. Actually they are amazing singers and have done their best. Although I have my own preference , I also admire three of them.
As Floor is the latest vocalist, she can practically sing every one of the songs, but i would be very curious about Tarja singing some of Anette’s or Floor’s songs. For example Amaranth or Shoemaker (especially the operatic ending). And I think every NW era has something special like Tarja’s is more fantastic and decent then Anette’s more energic and “screaming” and the current one, so Floor’s is something in between and yet so extraordinary, maybe some kind of emmm i can’t find the right word like maybe magnificent and cosmic type of spectacular. However, I absolutely love all 3 of them and every song has a special meaning for me no matter with whom voice it is sang.
Others says Tarja's pronunciations to some words are not good at live but Anette and Floor do..... That's because they are not from the same country or Place....Tarja from Finland....Floor from netherland....Anette from Sweden....that's why they don't have the same pronunciations in live concerts......like Americans and Spanish they have different pronunciations/voice.....that's why in live concerts Tarja pronounce the other word according they do in Finland but in albums she pronounced the word like Floor and Anette do....
I would defined have pick a different video for Tarja’s version like Download 2005, Tavernal or End of an Era, Wacken for Floor and the acoustic version they did with Anette during the Imaginaerum Tour seriously emotional and beautiful, this is not a super hard song to sing, so any of the three girls can pull it off without any issue.
Or one where Tarja is actually playing with Nightwish. I don’t personally think that it’s right for her to continually use their songs seeing how she didn’t write them.

I think you're half right and that you have a good point that withtout Tarja, Nightwish wouldn't be what they became. But without Floor, I believe Nightwish could have failed to grow more and more like today. No hate on Annette, but I've never liked her while she was with Nightwish.

Anette is a great singer and it shows on the songs that were written with her in mind (look at Storytime, that perfectly accentuated her style, Toumas knows how to write for the capabilities of those he works with), but having seen Nightwish live with Anette right after Dark Passion Play came out she really was pretty bad at the old Tarja songs and I don't mean that in any disrespectful manner, they just were written for such a different type of singer that she really didn't have a chance to make them sound right with her style of singing and that really hurt their live shows until they had a couple albums out with her. Fortunately Floor has proven capable of both styles and thankfully she seems to be doing great with them.

I’ll get flak for this but I’d rank it Annette > Floor > Tarja. That doesn’t mean I’m ranking them as singers as a whole, but I think that despite being a Tarja-era song, the song (especially the chorus) is written with a vocal melody that better suits Annette’s more traditional rock style of singing than the styles Tarja and Floor use here. By Toumas’ own admission, he had been writing less and less for opera-style singing for Tarja’s last few albums and that’s a big reason why Annette was chosen unanimously as a replacement, because she fit the style they were going for at the time. As beautiful as Tarja and Floor’s voices are here, they feel out of place to me with this song, plus Tarja’s has to stay within the chorus melody’s relatively constrained range, which makes her operatic voice sound monotonous here (her voice, like many operatic voices, is at its best when the melodies have more rises and falls, listen to the difference in her singing in this song and an early track like Elvenpath). Of course this is all just my perspective.
Annette Olzon's extremely poppy vocals are the reason I stopped listening to Nightwish. However, they have now got Floor Jansen, one of the greatest singers in metal history, so my interest has been renewed since 2013.
the only poppy thing in Anette's vocals is the bright color of her voice and that's not a thing anyone can change she's belting instead of singing like in opera and belting is common in rock and metal they've choosen Anette and they were more than interested in her she sent a tape and got 3 instrumentals back so she recorded vocals and send them back and that decided of her being in a band so blame Tuomas for that Anette's amazing on her albums though

Nemo was the first song I've ever heard from Nightwish, back when it came out so I'm used to Tarja singing it. Still have the song on my USB in the car, But Live, Floor sounds like it's a perfect record where the sound guys have done their editing. Tarja sounds live, but has no chance to Floor. I imagine when they plan an new album, the guys plan to record the songs for a few weeks and Floor hands them her beer, gets into the recording booth, comes out 80 minutes later and books herself a nice cruise from Norway back to the Netherlands...

Nemo was the first song I've ever heard from Nightwish, back when it came out so I'm used to Tarja singing it. Still have the song on my USB in the car,
But Live, Floor sounds like it's a perfect record where the sound guys have done their editing. Tarja sounds live, but has no chance to Floor. I imagine when they plan an new album, the guys plan to record the songs for a few weeks and Floor hands them her beer, gets into the recording booth, comes out 80 minutes later and books herself a nice cruise from Norway back to the Netherlands...

The comparison is not correct, because Tarja does not perform with Nightwish and the sound level is quieter :(
It should be compared with a live recording from the concert of Nightwish - Nemo (LIVE) with Tarja.

All 3 did great but that song was just made for Tarja and nobody can sing it like her and this coming from an Annette fan. Floor did a better job between the other two but Tarja owned that song and made it a part of her.

Annette is a good singer but she can't hold a candle to Tarja or Floor.
unless you are totally deaf you realize that Annette is best for this type of song. Tarja is just ridiculous with her operatic howling and floor is trying to copy tarja which is absurd.

I think the 3 of them nailed it, obvious Tarja's voice is the most operatic of the 3. I think Anette and Floor interpret the song and do the song in their own styles. It's a difficult song to sing, Floor absolutely destroys this song giving us her signature rock vocals + operatic sounds. Not a hater of any of the 3 versions
